Soloing Certain Sites

I just wanted to know the minimum requirement needed to solo certain sites. Just because most can be soloed by the battleship doesn’t mean you need the tank of a battleship. Assume a clean clone and that we are trying to get a ship with the lowest align time as possible. Caldari ships are not preffered but if it’s like “A Tengu is the best” then Tengu it is. A 6.2 s align is slightly preferred to a 6.9s since that means if the ship is moving slightly off axis from a planet, the 6.2s one might take 1 less second to finish aligning, but a 5.9 s align is much preferred to a 6.1 since that means it will align a full second faster under most circumstances. This also means marauders are not preferred since they need to switch modes, but if a site can only be soloed by a marauder, please give your best fit. AB fits are preffered over MWD ones if both work, but if the extra speed of the MWD is needed, then it will do. If two fits have a similar align times, neither are Caldari, and are both AB, a fit that uses Tech II or Faction modules instead of deadspace or officer is preferred, but if Deadspace modules are needed, then do mention it.

So the first isn’t really a site but Mordus Legion Commander Cruiser. I tried with a Hurricane and meta 720s and got my butt kicked, but I don’t know if that’s because I needed a different hull or that I needed to not cheap out on the guns.

Next is the Serpentis Port. I can do it in a battleship fine, but I wonder if I can go one hull lower.

Likewise, I can do the Blood Vigil, Serpentis Vigil, and Sansha Vigil just fine in a slow aligning BC, but I was wondering if I can get away with an Omen.

Last is the Forgotten Frontier Conversion Module. I’m 90% sure a BC can’t do this and a T3C can do this.

If you mean the Mordu npc that sometimes spawns at ore belts in lowsec and that drops garmur/orthrus/bargest bpc, then I managed to kill:
frigate with an Astero
cruiser with Gila
bs with Gila (not 100% sure about this one, but likely)

Gila can also handle Serpentis Port, but it felt to me kinda too slow, but IDK. Drone boats like VNI or Myrm can also do it, but not sure about VNI now, that is old info which I didn’t try again yet. Gila can also do that Besieged Covert something Mordu site, but it is very slow and since they scram also very risky.

The Oracle works very well for the Blood Raiders 4/10.

This is equipped with Tachyon beams and faction crystals
Stable capacitor, no damage from enemies
Mobile tractor unit recommended

Room 1:
1: max speed away from gate (90 degrees right)
2: snipe closest sentries first then closest cruisers
3: Once gone, snipe all the sentry towers.
4: Proceed to gate

Room 2
1: Go at max speed in the opposite direction
2: Take down heavy missile batteries closest to you
3: Snipe out all cruisers, start with ones closest to you
4: Once gone, snipe all the missile batteries (each group has 4, divide beam groups into 2 per group)

  • Can be done in any order

5: Snipe all the stasis towers
6: Take out the small structures plus the bunker. (optional)
7: Take down the Inner Sanctum

P.S: The Oracle is suitable up to… (Blood Raiders)
Blood Hideaway (hidden, forsaken, forlorn)
Blood Burrow
Blood Refuge (escalation to 4/10)
Blood Den (escalation to 5/10) - Not suitable for hidden, forsaken, forlorn
Blood Yard (escalation to 6/10)
Blood Rally Point (escalation to 6/10) - Not suitable for its variants

I’d say minimum requirements are highly subjective. You can spend an hour kiting 8/10 with a Vexor, Raven, Domi or Ishtar making 10-15m ticks or you can crush 9/10 or 10/10 with a higher skill fit in 5-10 mins making 30-50m ticks. Depending on what amount of isk you’re willing to put on the line and what kind of isk you want to make, minimum skills or fits vary.

I would link a ratting Nidhoggur fit but can’t find it on Seat. Carriers don’t match the dps of Marauders but you can more comfortably solo harder sites because you can stay aligned, at range, and warp out of the site to the nearest structure at the smallest hint of danger.

How did you do the formatting

Use this fitting if you are an Oracle lover. This works for a Blood Raiders 4/10 Mul-Zatah Monastery

Fit: Oracle, AES-429 by Jubayr Armstrong | EVE Workbench

Copy/paste from fittings in seat.

Thank you

First off, is there a fit that uses ion blasters for the VNI? I like blasters or heavy missiles when using drone boats, but if it’s like “you got to use ACs since I don’t have a good blaster fit” I’ll be like “awww, Okayyyy.”

Next, does the VNI and Raven fits work in the Forgotten Frontier Conversion Module? Or, is there too much DPS from the rats? I don’t know how this compared to DED sites.

Third, can a kiting Raven use an Afterburner to stay away? An AB by itself is obviously inadaquate, but with a Micro jump Drive, you don’t need to actually outrun the rats, just not let them get too close before the cooldown is up.

Not really. I mean sure you can put them on but the ratting VNI isn’t made for blasters; the beauty of the VNI is it’s ability to speed tank with a 100mn ab and once you have that fit there isn’t much fitting room for blasters, or much use for them as you’re keeping 50km range, therefore your dps is entirely drones.

Edit: The VNI fit I posted earlier was for lower level missions for newbros, a better ratting fit would be the following:

Note: Cap stability is a must so take off a field purger rig and throw on another cap control circuit if you need to.

Highs:
2x Drone Link Augmentor

Mids:
100mn Monopropellant Enduring Afterburner
Large Shield Extender
EM Shield Hardener
Drone Navigation Computer

Lows:
4x Drone Damage Amplifier
2x Omnidirectional Tracking Enhancer

Rigs:
2x Medium Core Defense Field Purger I
1x Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

Drones:
5x Hammerhead II
5x Ogre II

Sleepers hate drones. You might be able to tank the site but your drones will probably die quickly. I don’t really do sleeper content so I’m honestly not sure on that one.

After you’ve reached your 100km-ish orbit with the Raven, you don’t really even need a prop mod running. MWD and MJD are more important in missions when you need to travel between warp gates or pull range quickly when entering a new pocket but in nullsec anomalies an AB should be adequate as long as you warp in at 100.

Well ■■■■.

Does anyone know a descent fit for that site? A BC fit would be very welcome, but I suspect that the site is a bit too hard for them, so a battleship or T3C would be needed

It would need to be a blinged out T3C, or a very well tanked battleship – that C4 relic site has 4 sleeper battleships on the final wave that will send over 2k dps into your face, and with 4 webs that will ensure 90%+ will be applied to you.

A marauder would be the go-to recommendation, as even with marauder IV and a T2 module set up, you will have the tank needed and still be able to dish out damage to clear it in under 10 mins. Also, C4 sites tend to have spawn points at fairly large distances, so a MJD to jump at targets to get them into optimal range will help speed things up.

A blinged up rattlesnake or tengu could solo the site, but it would take a lot longer and the ship with fitting/pod needed to tank the site would put a fair bit more isk at risk. You’d also need to pay attention to the WH effect, as that may impact your ability to tank the site (a marauder can be easily over-tanked to the point where you can ignore the WH effects and still clear it easily and faster)

As most of the frigs and battle ships in C4 sites scram, being able to clear them faster helps make the farming safer on top of it all.

I see. Well thanks for the advice.

If the Mordu NPC Crusier can be killed by a Gila, does that mean a Harbinger, Prophecy, Hurricane, or Butrix can do it? Usually a Hurricane with 720s can do what pirate crusiers can do. I failed in my case, but I don’t know if that’s becuase it was unworkable or that I cheaped out by going with metas and need to suck it up for the Tech II modules

This is what to use for each of the DED sites
DED 1 of 10: Assault Frigate
DED 2 - 4: Tactical Destroyer
DED 5 - 10: Marauder or Strategic Cruiser

a Hurricane with artillery cannons has a lot of trouble fitting tank. I would recommend an auto cannon fit.

Also, cruisers with afterburners can mitigate a lot of the Mordu missile damage, battlecruisers are slower and fatter, and tend to have less damage reduction via speed/signature compared to cruisers.

So, sort of a double whammy against the hurricane, but still not too hard to tank it up enough with most standard T2 fits.

So with the Hurricane, it’s not ideal, but it’s possible (just not with me cheaping out on modules).

What do you think with the Harbinger with Pulse Lasers with Standard S? Is that going to kill the Mordu Cruiser before I die? This sadly won’t do inetic damage, but I am getting a 50% bonus to damage by the hill. What if I get reaaaaly close and use Multifrequency? Do I have to spring the ISK for the breakable Conflagration crystals?

You mentioned it was hard to tank with 720 mm Artillery. A Harbinger fit with meta pulse lasers should be able to fit a lot of tanking modules, a repper, and a battery right?

Perhaps we mis-stated the argument. When it comes to tanking the damage of mordu cruisers, you have two options (usually will be a mix of both): 1 - small sig, fast speed (sig tanking) to reduce damage, 2 - self-repping or having enough tank to survive until the ship dies.

frigates and destroyers generally do a lot of option 1 with a little bit of option 2 to kill those cruisers, and tech 3 destroyers are fantastic for it with an AFB and orbiting at 2500.

a small ship that can repair 100 effective hp per second or possibly less can kill the mordue with ease while a cruiser with 350 effective hp per second may not be sufficient.

For the battlecruisers, you are very solidly in the option #2 camp. The hurricane is beefy enough that you should be able to use a general purpose plate-rep auto-cannon fit. Also, don’t be afraid of using cap booster fits for PvE. I recommend playing around in a fitting tool such as Pyfa or the in-game simulation tool to mess around with fits.

Think of what your time is worth. the faction ammo gives a solid 10%-20% damage increase over standard ammo, which lets you kill stuff 10%-20% faster, which in 99% of situations will cover the cost of the ammo AND give you more isk/hr.

Faction ammo is almost always worth it – the T2 ammo can be situational, but it is generally worth your time to put yourself in the situations where it works best. the short range, high damage T2 ammo should be the go-to general purpose for lowsec ratting.

Also, ALWAYS use tech 2 guns. Yes, they are expensive, but the extra damage output makes up for it. Especially for a battle cruiser, with a 50mil+ investment in the hull itself, the extra cost provides a lot of benefit without making the fit too much more of a loss when you lose it.
