Keep an eye who takes them back again
So I have a couple of questions, the first one is totally on topic:
What is the process involves in taking and owning a customs office?
The second is a bit off topic, but related:
What happens if you take one of the Jovian observatories? And has anyone ever done so?
I pointed an intosis link at one and was promptly blown up by sleepers, and as I understand it you use them on customs offices as well, but I don’t know the whole story on either of them.
EDIT: Drifters, not Sleepers.
You destroy it and replace it.
That’s it? No wardec?
You have to war Dec the owner then attack their office, to put it in reinforced state , wait out timer which is days and then attack and destroy it
Not sure how timer’s work, like who controls the timers and combat time’s.
By whatever means available. If you can’t, then you don’t deserver to own them.
The owner sets the timer.
The reinforcement will end 24-48 hours after reinforcement, depending on the time chosen by the POCO’s owner, ±1 hour.

I saw that Jita Holdings were concentrating in the Domain area, interesting…
Yes seem to be switching around , which makes sense
Thank you all for that, I need to build something so I can wardec someone else as usual, how irritating.
So even in a wormhole I can’t just blow them up and replace them?
War decs are needed for hisec only. Lowsec, WH space, NPC nullsec and sov nullsec can be shot as you desire. You can most certainly shoot them and replace them in WH space. Though you could offer to buy them from the owners. Another trick is to ask for access and low tax rates.
Oh, well that’s fantastic! Thank you!
What I (and some friends mainly) have been seeing is (a few) 100% tax rates and it’s really irritating. I want to do something about it, and maybe pick a fight in the process. My friends are trying to do planetary stuff, but I’m not, I’m just hoping to help them if I can and now I know that maybe I can!
This is splendid! Thanks!
You will also need a structure that will become your war hq when you declare war.
You only need a structure to declare war, however any structure anywhere in space will enable people to declare war against you, so you might want to think that through. Generally unless you want to fight wars, avoid owning structures of any type. We liked to use POS’s, the old structures to enable wars against us.
The advantage of the old POS is that you can pull it down easily. So if we got a war that we did not want, we just pulled it down, and 24 hours later the war was gone then put it up again. I have not noticed any changes to that, but I was not really paying attention. You could ally with a POS too, again I am not sure if that is still the case, but if it is, use it.
You could do the same with gantries. Put one up somewhere and pull it anytime you want. less effort than a pos tower.
Hey, DC. I see today people are railing against the announcement, saying that CCP is “printing money” and that it will “crash the economy”.
Immediately I thought of this conversation we had last week, and wondered what your reaction will be.
Though American by birth, I live in Argentina, a country bedeviled by massive economic problems. We have had five years of nearly 50% annual inflation.
When I arrived in early 2014, the exchange rate was 7 pesos to the dollar official, and 11 on the black market. Today those rates are 98 and 181
I support the current government as much as I detested the one we had from December 2015 to December 2019, the NeoLib wankstains who hosed the economy while borrowing 34 billion from the IMF and embezzling most of it. But I don’t think the current gov’t really has a plan. They seem to be flailing about trying whatever they think might help.
Anyhow, this is about EVE, not Argentina. My point is just that I have some real-life experience of how badly wrong these things can go. What do you think will happen in EVE? Will this infusion of “Free ISK” help or hurt?
I would estimate that CCP maybe has 150,000 active subs, which means this event has the possibility of injecting up to about 35 trillion ISK into the game. That’s not a super-huge amount, but not little either - it’s roughly equal to a month’s worth of commodity-based NPC bounties.
As an extension of prior discussions, I don’t think this will have any practical effect aside from raising prices.
If you give everyone 1 dollar, no one is going to become 1 dollar richer. Giving everyone a dollar doesn’t also increase the amount of products available to purchase. Let’s say 1,000 apples are produced in the economy, and they cost 1 dollar each. If you give everyone another dollar, they won’t be able to buy 2 apples, because there aren’t enough apples available. But because everyone now has 2 dollars to spend, everyone will try to buy 2 apples instead of 1, so the price of apples will increase accordingly.
It’s just a very basic example to help visualize the economy. In EVE, with this event, the overall market impact might end up being something trivial, like a 4% (just a random number) increase in the across-the-board price index.
Some complexity is added into the equation when you consider how the wealth distribution looks like among the player population. A few months ago I created a thread where I proposed a “universal income” of sorts, which would have the effect of slightly helping new players bridge the wealth gap. CCP shut it down very quickly. Now, they’re essentially doing the same thing. Newer/poorer players would obviously benefit in this situation, because this ISK would increase their wealth considerably more than a 4% price index increase would negatively impact it. On the other hand, veteran/rich players wouldn’t even perceive the 235M hitting their wallets, but a 4% price index increase could increase their expenditures by billions.
What is absolutely atrocious about this event, however, is that they locked the ISK behind Omega status, which has the effect of CCP selling ISK for cash. I don’t think I need to talk about why this is bad in particular.
I’m going to shoot miners in protest.
You already make a regular practice of shooting miners, don’t you?
Right, but now it’s a protest.
I thought it was already done in protest.
…because miner do exist or something.
