If you are out cross-country skiing with a group of friends, and you realize you are being followed by a pack of wolves, you don’t need to be the fastest skier, it’s just very, very important not to be the slowest.
Or the worst tasting one.
You are far more likely to be killed by a cow than a wolf. Cows kill about 20 people per year. Most of those are considered deliberate, by kicking or trampling.
There has not been a person killed by wolves in North America during the 20th century.
Now deer cause about 1 million car accidents per year in the US, and 200 deaths.
Yes, the problem is that people don’t usually run from cows.

- never turn your back on a cow
- mandatory driver training for deer
