Daily Downloads

If you can do that, then hoboleaks does not include the undocumented patches as that would mean 2 version numbers per patch day (one for each patch). As far as I can see, there are only one changed version per patch day in Hoboleaks, which means it only tracks the documented patch or it tracks both and makes no differentiation between the two, which in turn means it does not say what’s in which.

In contrast to you, I can comprehend what I read.

HL checks the client version at downtime and then generates a comparison to the previous version if there was a change in the version number as this is the time actual patches happen

And where are you seeing the game version increment twice a day? because i can login at downtime and not get forced out of the game due to there being an update until the following downtime, barring emergency restarts ofc

So no i can comprehend what i’m reading and what i’m witnessing in that there aren’t 2 patches per day

Did you read and comprehend this topic at all?

As many do not have these supposed daily downloads of ~200 MB I can only assume that OP is either lying, has some edge case, or is deleting files that gets redownloaded when the launcher checks the game version.

Today’s double patch was again a 201 MB undocumented download followed by a 8.9 MB patch from the patch notes.

Non-stop updates are all good by me as long as it doesn’t wear away the SATA 3 SSD drives lifespan.

For those in the 3rd world countries, the internet usage quota depletion could still be an issue for them.

I’m not against the updates either. I’m just against CCP doing undocumented updates all the time.

This topic has come up numerous times in the past and from my own experience I can say the OP is not lying…

These little downloads happen almost every day and to be quite honest, I find it most disturbing… Mainly because it actually re-enforces my suspicion that CCP just Can’t Code Properly…

Yes… It’s an online game. Online games need to download things from the server like files and… stuff. Sometimes it’s big files and sometimes it’s small files, sometimes it’s everyday and other times it isn’t, only devs know.
If you don’t like downloads you can play offline. You just can’t play EVE offline, it wouldn’t work so it looks like you’re stuck with the downloads… unless you biomass and never play again.

Years ago in the past there wasn’t daily downloads happening…

I think most of it is incompetent programmers attempting to fix stuff they broke with previous downloads…

That’s an American thing. The rest of us only have data caps on phone internet, and then only on the cheaper subscriptions you get your kids.

That actually makes sense.
Anyone can make mistakes, unless they’re a robot, A.I, android…

You guys have to decide… Do you want longstanding bugs that seem to never be fixed, despite continual complaining in the forums? Or do you want frequent updates that fix problems? Correction: You don’t get to decide.

If it was actually fixing long standing bugs, they would post about it in patch notes…

Ok, so you expect me to believe that CCP just wastes your time and bandwidth with meaningless updates that actually don’t do anything, for what reason exactly? Honestly, if I have to choose between you as the programming’ ‘expert’, or a team of professional developers, I’m gonna assume they are being productive and don’t need to waste their time and bandwidth explaining themselves to a pleb like you.

Obviously you lack reading comprehension since I never said anything like that…

You’re just assuming that everything the launcher downloads constitutes a new build of the client and that is extremely unlikely.

Hoboleaks is most likely just comparing file hashes between builds, so the idea of an “undocumented” build change not making it to Hoboleaks is basically nonsense.

Yeah, fixing stuff they broke with previous downloads…

To be fair for all, CCP should point out in their minimum systems requirements page that an unlimited internet connection is required and if you are bound by a quota, you are not meeting the requirement to play EVE. As sad as it is.

But for some there are workarounds, like getting a different tarif or other options like Starlink or Leo or something else.
