They had a misconfiguration in their shitty DDOS prevention snake oil and blocked customers? In that case it would actually be CCPs fault, wouldn’t it?

Oh, okay. Got that impression because mainly US players told about problems, and (from their posts) VPN helped to connect. Had only minor problems in Russia (one disconnect, servers available otherwise).
This is just truly ridiculous.
In what way is this appropriate compensation for 2+ weeks of wasted Omega time? We kept gaining SP during the DDoS attacks and when your awful mitigation service blocked a bunch of your users. I’m pretty sure our Omega time just kept running down.

I was disconnected at one point and the counter on the launcher went down to 24 or something. So fkn what? I got a glass of water then logged back in. I was on when there were also over 26k other people on as well. It went up and down.
Yes, some people had problems. I know. However, I was not one of them. I had a couple of disconnects and… erm… oh yeah, local was messed up a bit sometimes.
When does local ever work 100%? That’s right, it doesn’t.

It would make sense to give US players Omega time then, no. You pay for a subscription and you can’t play it; skill points for everyone who played the game or not doesn’t seem appropriate, no?
Wow. There are A LOT of cool aid drinking players here. That would play the game on the worst conditions. These people can’t even look at the situation logically and apparently enjoyed the appalling state the game was in.
Well good luck with that then. You’ll be playing the game alone then when the next one comes out and can play a stable environment.
Seeing as characters kept on training regardless of connection issues, but you couldn’t play the game it would seem as if Omega time is the correct compensation here. You buy something and can’t use it; you get a refund. Simple business concepts over here in the US.

I definitely did not enjoy the state of affairs. I was unable to play for weeks, and so were some of my friends.
On the occasions where CCP messes up, such as situations with local chat not working, or occasions where system glitches cause lost training time, I am wont to hold them accountable for that. This time, however, the service was available, but I was unable to reach it. They still must reserve the capacity in bandwidth and server resources to accommodate me should I be able to connect, which perhaps I could do using a VPN that bypasses the abused or damaged internet route.
It is the internet provider’s job to provide internet. The purview of handling an active DDoS attack is solidly in their hands, as stewards of the internet, and there’s a certain onus on us to avoid infecting our PCs with malware that enables the use of our own equipment in the perpetration of these attacks without our knowledge. The public bears some responsibility that it conveniently overlooks, in my opinion. Even then, people can only be responsible for doing what is reasonably possible. DDoS attacks are notoriously difficult to deal with, and internet security is no trivial matter or there wouldn’t be a horde of zombie computers to launch DDoS attacks in the first place.
I will not put up with intentional maltreatment or incompetence from CCP when I see it, but I am willing to shoulder a small portion of the burden imposed by an act of cyber-terrorism as a display of solidarity.
For those unable to log in to defend their space assets, they have my sympathy and I don’t think a few skill points should be the end of it. Submitting a ticket for each individual case so that they can be considered is probably the best that can be done. Heck, even people who just lost playtime have my sympathy. I just don’t think CCP is responsible for our loss or obligated to compensate us for it. I think the public is in the best position to responsibly prevent DDoS attacks, but would rather shunt the blame to institutions and claim victimhood instead of exercise due diligence to secure their own online experience as a group and as individuals.

Guys you know when you resort to name calling and harassment it only highlights that you have lost the discussion. That is very offensive and if you read the terms of us on these threads you’d know it isn’t in line with them.
Keep sticking up for these good old boys. Omega time is the correct response to this. You don’t get any because you don’t want any, but us who were unable to log into the game we pay for should get it. Anyone who thinks SP is correct played the two weeks.

No. Not all Americans had the issues as bad as others. As far as I can tell, it was the east coast that was hit the hardest. So no. Also, what about the people not in the states who were having problems just as bad? What about them? It seems to me you just want free stuff for yourself and are using a wider group to justify that personal gain.

The correct response is actually nothing. You agreed to it when you made an account. CCP can do everything they can but cannot guarantee 100% server uptime or accessibility for everyone. They don’t have to give you jackshit. Stop being such an entitled kid.
