Can I get an update on which skills will be needed for both compression and decompression?
Don’t have access to sisi and I was planning on training my boosting alt to do both
They are actually already on live. Gas Decompression Efficiency is needed to decompress gas. Shipboard Compression Techniques is needed for orca and porpoise compression. Capital Shipboard Compression Techniques is required for Rorquals. Finally, Fleet Compression Logistics increases the range of your compression.
Is there any idea when the compression tech will come into affect?
Problem is, them specialised roles are what the mining barges used to have. This is what CCP wanted to change because “it was a useless tree”. CCP are fast removing any way of making isk in the game other than purchasing plex and selling it.
We are fast loosing ways to make isk with ratting being removed (Check the ESS’s and see that NOONE is ratting, Last night out of the whole of eve there was 2 ESS with isk in them), Mining is being shafted and then shafted again, Industry is impossible for anything battleship + and Faction.
CCP need to realise fast that what they are doing is gonna kill this game, People are loosing activities, they are loosing things to do. Everyone is focused on the small ways to actually make money.
seems to me they are putting the word CHOICE into the equation. you want zero waste, or you want to produce more waste or as little waste as possible, change up what you are using… they are trying to change the meta around some.
There isnt a choice in waste? the process they are making is that we cannot remove waste completely, and even with ORE strips, were still being shafted as miners because the building process is too much.
T1 produces zero waste.
I was again thinking about the why CCP chrashed the mining system, they said they want to stop the missuse of rorquals which could hourly afk mine while a bot manages the targeting of new asteroids and sending the drones.
With the new compression future will a hulk miner more per hour than a hulk and is able to miner with the compression feature about 100 50sec cycles. so ther will be in futere not many rorquals in a belt while they miner afk,… in futer there will be a booster and a bunch of miners. and the best is. in highsec you will miner much more with one afk hulk and a orca than bevore with an afk orca.
I would be stupid if i would not ask,… “Hello CCP what are your real plans for that game?”
To be honest bringing up that Compression boost will be one of the worst decisions you have ever done. and to repair that will take again the affort to reballance the whole mining thing.
So CCP you maybe start to listen to your gamers, or start again from scratch after roling out that new mining upgrade.

The procurer, orca and the Rorqual schould be able to compres, no other ship.
The orca enough to support arround 5 hulks, and the rorqual to support arround 15 0r 20 hulks. -
Mining in a procurer or a skiff is a solo game. they should be have 1 midslot more to be able to fitt aditional scram or web. and 2 low slots more for frig boost. (Ability to make fun PVP-Mining fleets

The Retriver should have a fleet hangar to support 1 aditional hulk and have enough cargo to miner with a hulk together for arrount 20-30min (without additional boost), that mining without boost for beginners is not always a solo game.

Covetor and hulk are good as they are, they should be good for mining and that they are.

there should be a frig sized 1 boost ship (Like a mix of the command ship with Logi abilitys, microjump for frig mining fleets, that would be a the perfect fun ship for wornkoles)

The Porpoise schuld get the abilitys of a blocaderunner to be able to make quick and easy mining fleets in lowsec or nullsec and have big enough cargo to support with compression arround 5 skiffs or a bunch of frigs. (mention the cargo dont have to be that big, with an aditional machinaw and its ability to vompress you will be able to transport large compressed amounts)

The primae schould be awesome as the Mining Noctis, Think about a ship which can loot with a special thactorbeam from open Fleethangars. compress it and hauler it or put it in a Fleethangar of a seperat hauler. (that way it could loot the ores from other fleet hangars and create a single warp point for transporters.

The bowhead should become a allaround Ore-hauling ship und get a fleet hangar and a Ore-cargo big enough to support effectively a 0.0 mining event, or to deliver the Ore you minered at highsec and nullsec settions. 300.000m³ should be enough.

The rorqual should get fighterbays and its miners should get fleet cargobays that the Drones would become a kind of moveable and assignable jetcans to support miners arround the belt. and it should get the industrial jump bridge to be able to move mining fleets and transport fleets savely across the 0.0 space.
Simple and easy,… that changes would connect miners who are solo in space to benefit from mining together even without boost. small fleets would have more fun because different ships would have different jobs in the fleet and fullfill different tasks.
And you would be able to roam in mining fleets and even do pvp in miningships. And if that is not enough you would be able give every ship a unice missions within that fleet to fullfill different tasks. just like you do in pvp fleets.

My 2 cents … I have a little mining fleet of 4 toons and think the in space compression is very cool.
Of course, I’m not playing the game for ISK, I’m playing for fun.
fun… thats what matters… as long as you are having fun.
They did feel more “realistic” maybe, but for the purpose of in-game mining, they made it exceptionally inefficient adding an additional hit to mining rates on top of the recent “adjustments”.
In-space compression is cool, but the expected implementation is not. The boosting ship (Rorq, Orca, Porp) should be able to compress the ore as it comes in, but the mining ships themselves should not. Yes, I’m aware that the boost pilot needs to have the skills and the module active to allow this but, it simply shouldn’t be possible. The Orca and Porpoise now having the ability to compress the ore their mining fleet mines is how it should work (the way Rorqs have worked all along). Shipboard compression is stupid.
I am missing the BPOs for the new modules - where will they be seeded?

Theres a saying in my country that can be closely interpreted as “When a cat has nothing better to do it starts licking its own balls” and I think that fits perfectly for all the updates the industry in EVE had last 2 and a half years since they removed ore from null, trying to fix something that was never broken.
And now releasing new modules and skills with no books and BPOs, I certainly hope whoever’s idiotic idea was that will get fired an never work in gaming industry.
Yea, it will probably be listed as a bug fix…
