yeah
sure but there could be ways around such as just buying the eve ip alone or just waiting a couple of years until the game is dead in the water and pick it up at a discount

And that’s the straw, the final one. There’s a reason I play EVE, it’s not a Korean grindfest and money grabbing scheme.
That would require them to :
A. Either analyze the situation, or hire CCP’s staff to find and use their analysis.
B. find other solutions.
C. Design a new system, or integrate updates, or fix problems, or both.
And not a single time does he mention any of the issues associated with these battles, not a single this incompetent reporter asks about the server issues. He just buys into Hilmar’s business talk.
Its the new brave world full of microtransactions and stuff.
You do not grasp the difference between Western and Eastern culture/society, also in regards to gaming.
They are quite literally on other sides of the world and as distant in different values and tolerances.
You look at some of the other MMO that is developed by Koreans, there is about a 6 month delay or more from when content is release in Korea and when it is released in the USA. Many Korean MMO’s are also Pay to Win, and you can expect Eve Online to follow suit.
None the less, Eve Online is about to make major changes.
Of course, you can see that just to try to make do without knowing enough will cause more problems.
Edit:
I don’t know their conditions since I never worked with them.
I’m also in courts and against the (an) Integrity Commissioner, and have to inform the European law chamber of the case.
Amen to that !!!
Welcome to the beginning of the end!
I do understand that there are differences.
I’m saying that at the end of the day, if you are willing to fully buy a company and rework matters to suit your business model, those differences mean nothing.
If this acquisition were a partnership, with CCP retaining part of its independance, those differences would still be relevant.
GamesBeat: And Pearl Abyss is buying everything, right? 100 percent of the company?
Petursson: Yes. They’re buying 100 percent of CCP.
This is the exact same situation with PA and BDO and its publishers. There too different publishing catered to different markets with different user types and cultural differences. PA walked all over it. And made more profit.
Anyone know what the estimated number of active S.Korean players in EVE is?
I think only WoW runs for about the same time.
I prefer EVE content than WoW, but for popularity, it’s not comparable.
There is no scientist base I communicated with in WoW.
Nonetheless, the EVE Online system is one of the 2 or 3 longest running system.
I would not be surprised they shared data.
what do you mean by anal donations?
I read BDO is Korean now.
you pay them money and they return the favour with an anal donation maybe lol
WoW has a big Korean base, which EVE probably had less, percent wise.
Tranquility vs Serenity shows that the players behave differently, in a nominally identical virtual environment, when playing with those from their hemisphere.
Tranquility and Serenity are like two twins that grew up one in the West, one in the East, and turned out very differently.
Applying marketing/development that fits the Asian markets, will not work/cater to the West, nor vice versa.
Trying to cater to both, simultaneously, will result in a compromised and schizophrenic product, that will appeal to neither.
They paid too much for the game imo, they will want return, it will take some time but will happen. The game won’t be sold if generating expected profits. BDO will want their money back and extend. Now they have around 30k average players more to milk, and even if they lose 2/3 but earn more of what left they’ll still push it.
