Reserving final judgement here but I’m apprehensive after seeing the pay-to-cheat fiasco that Archeage very quickly became, and hearing from other people that BDO is similar to Archeage.
If this game seriously crosses the pay-to-cheat line, I’m out of here, and I’ve got enough in-game resources to burn a lot of things behind me (by funding a Burn Jita or Hulkageddon style event).
PA is doing very well for themselves, yes.
That doesn’t mean it’s a good thing for gamers.
Companies can do well for themselves while also making games that are good for gamers. Those companies are not banned from my money. PA is.
I don’t know why you keep calling him ‘this BRAVE guy’ as if he’s doing something heroic. He’s just telling it like it is. PA are a trash company that put money before gamers.

I wish this announcement came out a week ago. If I knew EVE was to sell out to a money milking, pay-to-win, lockbox gambling developer, following in the footsteps of most online developers by saturating our games with rubbish mechanics and business practices, I would not have renewed for 12 months of gametime.
Very disappointed. Time to start ditching MMOs.

There is a difference between having a stake in the profits of a company and directly having a product in the same market and buying what is essentially a rival product
It’s not that bad indeed because the acquiring of the items can only be done via in game actions. Unless they start selling them for real money on the store it’s not that bad.
What I am concerned is about the feature itself. It feels out of place in eve, it looks as if it’s been implemented at the last moment. Mutated modules are a pain to sell/buy and manage.
The Abyss feature would’ve been fine without mutaplasmids, it could’ve easily been something added later.

Black Desert Online is a WoW style kinda game. Its with elfs and ■■■■ like that running around grinding monsters for gear. It does NOT share same cultural affinities with EveOnline. Far from it actually. Mixed feelings about this merger
After all, its just a game and there are other, they gone playing some other spaceships.

I just canceled my 5 account subscriptions. Sadly a couple have 100+ days left and another 240-ish. It’s one thing to sell out but it’s another to give it to a company like PA.
Simple idea for those of us with a decent amount of liquidity, invest in Pearl Abyss Corp (263750:KS) Become a stake holder.
Define what we wish for the game (Eve) & Company(CCP) for the future. At least now we have that choice. Not a valid option in the past, so we have some recall ]

I highly doubt CCP will change EVE Online. They’ve stated that they will remain independent. Not much else to say.
My best guess is, seeing how the announcement follows the announcement on Serenity, that CCP may use a good portion of the newly won ISK … money, to properly invest into the Asian market, because in order to do so do they have to go big in Asian. They didn’t have success with their first attempt and their partner just wasn’t up to the full task. If they can succeed now then it will make Pearl Abyss’ investment into CCP worthwhile for them.
