Two. Salvage.
The true loot box ever since Salvaging was born!
This idea would be GREAT if it could be used as a driver for conflict by allowing the bad guys of Eve to interact as well. If the intent is to drive players to work together to mine and defend, add a mechanic to allow others to attempt to interrupt the activity in a way that would cause them to go suspect. It permits the defense fleet to engage the would-be pirates.
It would be even better if CrimeWatch permitted something larger than 1v1 LEs, but it’s obvious that won’t be changing any time soon.
Is that all…
As long as ccp get entertainment out of it them self playing it it should be fun
You say they’re aimed at new players yet both yourself and Steve have already pointed out how to gank them to others in the chat…or have you worded it wrong?
I’m at a loss as to what to say to that.
As for interaction with others, I’m sure that many players in HS have had interaction with others at some point in large corps and alliances, maybe you need to think about why they don’t want to interact now?
No, it’s not the same as the keys. The keys just mean you have to buy/steal/earn a key to get in. A hard cap means that all you have to do to prevent unwanted interaction is stuff your site with alts. The “other creative ways” amounts to driving a fast ship across open space until you wander into the pocket.
Consider this: A mining fleet can operate inside such a space during a wardec with absolute confidence of protection, because no combat ship will be able to access the space in a reasonable amount of time.
If you go forward with this mechanic, you’re not encouraging player interaction. You’re further insulating players from one another. If your goal is to make highsec a more interesting place to play, you have to ensure the “bad guys” have a place…otherwise the endgame of highsec is risk-averse isk generation until boredom sets in and players wander off to another game. If the goal is to train people to play more cooperatively so they venture out into more dangerous space, giving them PVP-proof echo chambers has the opposite effect, as their first adventures outside highsec will show them just how poorly your content prepared them for the rest of Eve.
I’m not worried about the gank safety, regardless of size and player limit, all you need to do is getting 1 person inside, then the fleet members should be able to warp in, even if the site is full right?
(I never tried to fleet gank someone in a multi pocket site, I just assume this is how it works.)
A more valid concern are the rewards. Flooding the market with Ventures wouldn’t be a big deal, you already can get at least 24 per character for free. Anything different or bigger however would be a problem, you would either decrease the value of the player-made ships, or the special edition ships if you can get an infinite amount of them for LP. The most I can imagine are the navy versions, but only if you have to give them the base ship, as you do it currently.
Why does this recent addition make think of it as establishing a system of feeding stations for PvP hunters to utilize at the expense of HS/new players? Well, we will see.
No. When you try to warp directly to a fleet member or scan signature that is inside a deadspace, you land on the acceleration gate. Which has been fine up to this point…if you’re chasing a wartarget or looking to ninja loot/salvage or interact with that other player in whatever capacity, you just needed to use the gate and possibly carry the appropriate keys. But now the plan seems to be to allow players to lock out the acceleration gate.
I think you could encourage new people to do group activities by introducing size limited, but hard combat missions (maybe from dedicated agents). For example a mission with level 3-4 difficulty, that only allows frigates to enter, so you need to bring more people, including logi support.
These are burner missions and do exist.
Well, we’ve got the gankers screaming ‘THIS WILL KILL GANKING FOREVER!!!1!!!oneTWOwon!!’, because I guess all mineral mining, T3C/Marauder/Rattlesnake missioning, and freighter traffic will stop?
Sooo… if you’re saying ‘this will just set up ganker feeding stations’… I’m gonna guess the truth is somewhere in the middle? Some gankers will gank in/on/around these, some won’t? Some people will do these, some won’t?
zomg, almost sounds reasonable when everyone’s bitching about it, huh?
LOL, I can’t help but think the same thing, all gankers have to do is sit in a site and wait for the food to arrive. Then they can bump the crap out of everybody for fun and just screw up the site, and there’s little to nothing any of them could do.
It’s one hell of an introduction to group play for the new guys. But then again they might get lucky and never run into them, lets hope it’s the latter.
Yes, but they are random and fairly rare. And they only have a few enemies usually, so they can be soloed with a proper fit if you know what you’re doing.
Your assumption is that the corp or players can sit inside the plex for hours farming content. Yet the content seems to be:
Limited wave of NPCs
Limited amount of mission/site special ore with limited value
Limited time while the site is open
So why would anyone sit there for any length of time? Unless the ore is in large supply or the NPC waves keep spawning, there is no reason to sit there. Your war decced corp would accomplish nothing different than sitting in station. And the reward seen a like at best it is a skin that will flood the market so won’t be high value.
Why worry? Seems like a lot of fear over a mechanic that could be used to your advantage.
I mean say your enemies have 10 people in the site capping it out. You know the moment they leave they are either head to a gate, station, or next site. You should be able to watch them in Dscan in an interceptor and out race them to catch them at the next spot. If gate or site you are good. If they head to a station, hope they have a weapons governor the like.
Still Not seeing this as some great heaven. Yeah if it lasted a day, spawned infinite waves of decent bounty BS rats, maybe it would be an issue. Otherwise, have some faith that CCP knows what they are doing and will keep the risk in eve.
For once in this game, let’s play fair: if the site is full, Concord can’t enter either. They may warp in one by one, but only if the people don’t say inside, sitting in their pods.
Just one question i see the restrictions for the ship ´s. but for that, that it is somewaht mining focused how is the split for mining ships from levl 1 to 5 . Frigate is clear but waht about barges / exhumers/ propoise and orca?
However if you warp in 1km off grid and then transition over the grid boundary it works fine the last I checked. It’s a bit harder with larger grids these days but that just means you then warp to something in the site like an asteroid that is over 150km away.
If it’s based on hull size (the normal way it’s done), then once you hit ‘cruisers’, the barges and exhumers can get in. Presumably, the porpoise, too. Orcas probably only at L4-5.
