Dev blog: Moon mining revamped - There’s Ore in Them Thar Moons

Because of the dank isk that moon mining will bring. For the same reason people anchore enineering structures

why cant you?

Wut? Nobody’s forcing you to do anything dude. If someone has no interest in mining at all it’s their own stupid fault if they find themselves somehow in a barge firing excavation beams at rocks isn’t it?

This change means that entities who want to reap the rewards of moon minerals must have ships in space to do it, which is not currently the case. Ships in space where previously there were no ships is a PvP driver, the fact that miners will be there shooting rocks does not make it any less PvP since they will be available hunting targets for everyone else.

to be fair mate nullsec should have more and better resources, that’s the point of nullsec.

@CCP_Lebowski
Will the seeding algorithm have regional bias? e.g. Feythabolis moons get an increased chance of moongooium for example.

It’s not that simple :slight_smile: This is EVE after all, the player is part of a larger network or group mechanism which has requirements which have dependancies. While there are typically multiple routes to providing for those and thus meeting requirements, it is never a given that this is a natural state or constant after choices have been made. People may very well be forced to face the labour every now and then, they may not, but we cannot unilaterally claim that it’s a matter of “don’t do it if you don’t like it”. Sure, choice, but merely an individual choice. In EVE there’s a lot more to it than that.

It’s really pointless to project based on the mechanisms, that’s only really possible based on established behaviour and choice patterns. Now it’s not the first time that a structural change is made, on the contrary, so there is some experience with it :stuck_out_tongue:

This is not a pvp driver or a content generator, those may be extra’s, but they are derivative. It doesn’t add, it only provides extra conditions and locations, nothing more. What it is, that comes down to a population and finance driver.

As you might expect, we’re keeping our cards close to our chest on this one. You’ll just have to wait and see! :slight_smile:

Oh you …

you just made me mentally go back to much much older days …

Can I just place trust that mistakes of the past will remain something of the past? No need to rehash it all, I just felt a chill in the back of my neck for a moment :stuck_out_tongue:

Now if resource models carried entropic variables and if EVE had nature and not just nurture bound by mechanical boundaries, there could be something grand. But the requirements for that, I’m afraid that those do not match with the current vision presented at Fanfest. It made sense, but what a damn shame :frowning:

As mean it it might be, I really hope some people make massive investment and costly operation based on bad data gathered on SiSi since the distribution there won’t be final.

I really want some of those tryhard tears.

Just to preempt any thoughts going that way:

The CSM found out about the redistribution of moons at the same time all of you did. When the blog was released.

@CCP_Lebowski

I like the plans so far, including ore makes sense.

Did you consider including Ice as well? Considering we have confirmed moons can/do have ice in them or even be made entirely of ice.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make the moon chunks destructable using turrets/launchers/drones/smartbombs (not bombs or DD devices).

Resource denial through force could be fun!!

if you’re not going to add this feature, can you elaborate on why this isn’t a good idea?

As I recall, you can interrupt the moon chunk during the extraction phase by reinforcing the structure.

But that is far from the same. Ship & player based content generators? Do it the right way. Expose all angles. Deeper gameplay, deeper emotions, deeper commitment.

We should be able to blow the chunks up. Not to the point of “let’s go when they are asleep cuz they have no Aussies or Kiwis”, but something that is a bit more than a hit and run is sufficiently low key to warrant doing it and warding against it.

Hahah, you really expect us to believe that?

It’s common knowledge that the “CSM” exists only to provide a thin veneer of democracy to a shadowy cabal of null-sec mafiosos (headed by Dark Lord Mittani) who are actually CCP’s domineering puppeteers (intracranial implants seem to be the likely mechanism of their control, but I haven’t ruled out chemtrails. More information on atmospheric conditions over Reykjavik required.). The CSM found out about this during the underground volcano-lair meeting in which they themselves determined It Shall Be.

No doubt they also authored the “random” number generator which will “randomly” distribute all of the R64 moons across Delve and Deklein.

Anyway, serious talk, since we happen to be graced with the presence of a Shadowy Cabalist: Those human-skin suits — dry clean only, or can you just throw them in for a quick rinse?

Read his response to my question on that.

Will the new skill books be avaliable at random school, or only at ORE space?

Eh? didn’t you just give me a response to that same question? or am I confused?

Wormholes are left out in the cold again huh?

There are several modules in game that don’t have t2, factions or officer variants in game. I think it is a missed opportunity not to use moon mining to inject some much needed life into the growing desolate wasteland that is wormhole space

Sure… Just as soon as we can farm T3 mats in K-space.
