I wonder if something that disrupted resistances and thus the Gallente’s prided active tanks at short- mid range, possibly scaling would work in the future.
Was making ECM scale with ship size discussed?

I don’t believe so.
was anything beyond emotions, in relation to ecm, discussed?
don’t say it!!! agency??
Honestly, and this is coming from a Damp pilot, targeting disruption exacerbates the issue bigger ships have with smaller ships.
Why is it that Missiles have auto-targeting and Rapid launchers and turrets have nothing like it?
caldari favoritism mayb??
first they came for ecm; you can bet damps will become the new ‘broken/unfun’ mechanic next needing nerfhammer. just like some (or perhaps all) csm are counting on the meta shifting to something other than the claw for the same hit and run tactics. or mayb they are hoping that people will just stop attacking bears in ns if they add just the right # of hurdles?
we already know some were hoping to replace roll hics with porpoises!
I think that jams still should break all the ship’s locks and apply a short (2-5 second maybe) delay to retargeting the ship jamming you. The GNI could have a cycle time and Cap use bonus so it is still viable in 1v1. Another idea is shifting the focus of ECM to target breaking completely.
Apparently it would take up to much dev “time” so they are content with bandaids.
Balance pass with Team Size Matters
CCP Rise and his team came in for an extra session the day after the 2 hour Ship and Module
Balance session.
He wanted to give an update on what can be done short term about some of the top items of
discussion. The team went back after the summit and did research on options. This would be a
balance release heavily driven by the summit. This is also stuff which is near the top of the CSM’s
list of current balance issues and involves things which CCP have been reluctant to change for
various reasons. Some discussion was had about how to communicate these changes and how long
they should stay in the game until they are addressed or revisited. Starting with:
Nullification removal from combat interceptors. Fleet tackle interceptors retaining nullification.
It’s possible that ECM can be changed so the jamming ship can still be targeted back. The counter
would be an ECM ship buff in a survivability regard.
Heavy interdictor bubble generator penalties being removed to address the broken HIC issues. CCP
Rise and the CSM acknowledged that WH players would be negatively impacted by the HIC
changes and CCP Rise discussed the possibility of adding a mass reduction module to ships.
The other issues brought up are also being looked at.
per csm minutes.^^^
someone along the way suggested we/I should blame ccp for any changes, not the csm. I reflexively agree, but per the minutes, this Was Largely CSM sponsored; cccp holding reservations.
What this tells us is the ECM change is legitimately going in half done, since the ‘counter’ is nowhere to be seen.
“As a victim, watching your ship die while jammed without anything you can do about it feels bad.”
I would have to argue that the whole ECM nerf is based on the victim feeling bad.
I don’t think its a false audio-visual feedback:
if you can always “attempt” to target then the feedback would be accurate - You have locked your target enemy Jam attempt failed or You have locked your target no enemy jam attempt detected or You have failed to lock your target enemy jam succeeded re-attempting target lock.
The RND roll for ECM is just something people can latch onto as being unfair until you realize that the miss your lasers just made was you failing a RND
whatever makes a person FEEL better
anything is better than the current ruining of ecm as a whole imo
I feel that for anti-bashing Scorpions and Griffins that this will end in a buff for them now that I think about it. They’re going to have real tank eventually so even light fighters won’t be able to do much against them if they’re properly supported.and that’s if the change actually affects carriers and supers.
My fav bit:
“ECM is mentioned and CCP Rise feels that being able to do something on the field despite being
jammed would be a necessary change to make a good ECM balance. One idea which was thrown around was to be able to target the ship which is jamming the player”
A room full of people who play or work with EVE and not one of them thought …what happens in solo combat or what about an active jam breaker module.
Edit: or thought whats needed on the other side of this ECM change to make it balanced
what REAL tank do you imagine a griffin having tho? it still has to be balanced amongst other frigs.
scorpions can already fit a comparable bs tank. they just cant do that AND fit for their hull bonus (ecm). nothing about this will net a buff to the hulls bonused for ecm, unless the hull bonus changes (proves that ecm is truly in the garbage bin) or they get buffed to the point of breaking their balance amongst their peers.
honestly man, I really don’t think ecm is broken at all. its ppl’s hurt feelings, and broken hearts that need a lil ‘fixing’
Sig tank against fighters and armor Scorpions can get cruiser tanks against non-applying fighters.
tbh, nsa should probly grant a 75-100% bonus to fighter sensor strength, and the ecm changes shouldn’t go thru. or the fighters could use a 3 point bump in base strength and leave things the same. they could shave 1% point off all the ecm hull bonuses, they could do a myriad of things to adjust ecm as it is, without breaking the way it works. same could be said for claws and arty fittings, just a couple points of pg can go a looong way to balancing a thing, if it Really is out of balance. csm advocated for non-sensical alternatives, and at least the minutes show that ccp devs were wary of doing all of this. why they agreed to any of it is still debateable.
EDIT: excuse me, the changes are only non-sensical if you want to preserve balance. if you want to break certain styles of play, and severly nerf others in order to support yet others, then these changes all make perfect sense. its really the terms used in the blog that don’t match the logic here.
We don’t have the patch notes for October yet, so we don’t know what the counter is. We’ll have a better idea if you are right or wrong when those come out.
Real tank is easy:
20% Shield resist as ship bonus.
+25% Shield HP per level or +50% bonus to shield extenders per level
(Disclaimer: The same work went into this Idea as went into the ECM change itself)
Quick question about ECM Stacking.
Let’s say I have two ECM ships jamming the same ship. The dice roll let’s both jams hit successfully. Can the jammed ship now target both ships, or neither ship?
If the former, how can have multiple ships performing the same job actually weaken the effect?
Thanks
Both, was answered before.
Which makes this change even more ridiculous.
