good thing is that guys like scoots seems pretty much a minority, not like in other mmos (wow, lotr etc) lol
now i love eve online even more! <3
lets just hope ccp listens to the majority of the community and not to the small part of carebears, if they gonna start to ruin this game too i gonna quit mmos for good….
we should just make a petition to get a ingame voting system, this would make everything easier for ccp and it would prevent stupid changes like this!
Nullsec has more influence than you think - You can look on zkill and see how since the ECM changes pvp fighter losses have dropped by 50% - so I guess we found who’s feelings were being hurt by ecm.
I don’t think there has been any other changes that benefited carrier ratters as much as the ecm nerf and now they get free intel.
Will miss setting up the ship and pressing undock then setting out and jumping system to system via gates/wormholes, pitting yourself against the rng gods, blobs as well as bob, in the hopes of finding a system to possibly exploit before anyone else does, moving on in the thought that the next system over you may or may not strike it rich, you may hit a camp and become fodder, but also about the traveling around and taking in the different sites along the way or even getting sidetracked completely and spending more time in game doing extra content. Again gonna miss that aspect of exploration gameplay.
Now all it seems to be for explorers is open up agency window and looking for a set destination possibly going yeah nah that’s ■■■■ because it doesn’t have enough and turn around. It’s totally not going to be farmed, cherry picked, or used for free intel. Was fun while exploration actually meant exploring.
Hi. I’m a newbie who was initially “bewildered” (never thought to use that word though) by exploration.
I can’t say that I ever needed encouragement to leave a system that had no apparent anomalies.
My problem as an explorer newbie was that I couldn’t scan down quickly enough, because I didn’t have high enough skills, or the patience to sit and scan for hours.
I also didn’t have the ability to cloak, or the isk to buy a proper cloaky ship, so I would spend hours scanning something down only to skip out like a bat from hell whenever another player showed up in system.
If you really want to offer “bewildered” newbie explorers some encouragement, then try these things:
Offer more training on Exploration. The Exploration Career Agent is a good start, but not enough. Everything I know about exploration, I learned from YouTube and other players.
Make it easier and quicker to skill up exploration skills, so that new players have a better chance of scanning sites quickly before someone more experienced does.
Make it easier to skill up Cloaking (and I’m not talking about that Prototype Cloak ■■■■) as well as the skills needed to fly cloaky ships, to give new players a better shot against explorer hunters.
I like the look of the interface and it’s nice to see the Agent Finder back in action.
However…there can be no doubt that the addition of signatures and anomalies to The Agency cheapens the value of exploration. This seems to be a world bending power you’re casually giving away for free. It is not an elegant solution. The addition goes against the game’s own DNA of needing friends (or your own hard work) to succeed, as a single account will have valuable map information while spinning its ship in station. As the stated goal is to help new players, why not limit the feature to High-Sec pockets surrounding career agents? Please keep navigation and exploration valuable. Adding sigs and anoms here does the opposite.
The value of pointing new players into other systems is worthy, I agree. However a balance distorting introduction like this to the game is unnecessary and even reckless. It is my sincere hope this change is reversed with all due haste.
Yes. That’s why players are upset! Finding the systems that have lots of signatures is half of exploration. Kind of makes exploration a misnomer if the game tells you (and every other player) where things are.
im a New Player too and disagree with all ur points!
making this game easier will fix nothing, the only Thing that will happen is that u will have a easy and fast start and then u gonna quit after some months because u are bored because the System of the gaming aspects isnt more complex enough!
pls no ccp! making things easier and easier will just make more and more people quit the game! also why they should make cloaking even easier to skill up than it already is? u can learn this skill already pretty fast!!
a big no no from me! and that is coming from a new player who started 3weeks ago!
also i made 2 of my Friends (we are all Omega accounts) start eve online now and both say that they like eve online too but alot of mechanics and things to do in this game feel already too easy… if u make the game easier and easier u will just make me and my friends quit the game because there are tons of easy mode and boring mmos out there and eve will lose that competition also one of my Friends loves Exploration (he loves this in elite dangerous too) and he wont be happy if i tell him About the changes that are coming soon,… i just hope he wont quit this game because exploration is his main thing in eve
after reading some posts i really feel more and more that the best thing for eve would be a voting system so ccp can see what the majority of the community wants to see in eve online! Voting System would be the only thing that would be fair for the whole community!
i have the big fear that the loud minority of carebears and crybabys gonna ruin this game for alot of people and change it into a easy mode mobil mmo!! we already have tons of These crap games and dont need anymore of em!
one of the main reasons me and my friends started with eve online because it is one of the last real mmos with real freedom and a awesome pvp system! if ccp changes these core features in favor for casuals and todays lazy childgamer im sure a ton of people will quit this game very fast! making things easier and giving stuff for free will fix nothing, it will only make everything worse!!
i just prey and hope that ccp starts reading the community Feedback and Change some stuff in the update before they bring it live!!
So you introduce an Agency thing noone asked and cares for and now after so little time you alrdy changing it again? way to go to waiste your time on something noone uses
well, the window looks nice, and yes, the sigs being known does make things easier, but that kills the fun of it, exploration should be about jumping in and finding out whats inside, not having that displayed for you in a window while you’re sitting in a station 3-5 jumps away, there should be some risk involved, but besides that i like the changes, it feels sleek and modern, but like I said, maybe dial back on the exploration side of it.
I really don’t get this exploration change…if explo would be underused or anything, i would understand. But i have almost never heared the complaint that exploration is too hard. What u have heared constantly is “explo is great for newbies” and i have heared a lot of new players really enjoy it.
Why do you need or want to perform such a fundamental change on a well beloved and frequently used activity? I just don’t get it.
And even the further implications of this change are terrible from my point of view. Now even small groups will be able to notice new signatures (i.e. wormholes) in dead and empty systems nearby. With systems such as NEAR2 around and the option to see all wormholes in your vicinity this easily (yes you need to scan it…but you don’t need to actively check if anything spawned…your agency will tell you so), I am afraid that this will make nullsec even more safe against small scale roaming groups.
Plus…with your - sorry - piss-poor record of following up on Features, please understand that your promise to do so, sounds almost mocking.
“We are aware of the implications of this change and will monitor the effect on New Eden and the Exploration career, with the possibility of balancing and tweaking in the future.”
Is anything like this bit:
“The downside here is that in the short term, balance for ships focused on ECM may be a bit out of whack. We are looking at some small buffs to fitting and tank for ECM ships with this release to help them survive against return fire, and long term we hope to be able to increase jam strength to make ECM more consistent across the board. Your feedback will be critical in ironing out those changes going forward.”
Where you really mean “sucks for you if you enjoyed this aspect of the game, as it’s done now”?
We’re all sure you’ll iterate again on this ‘soon’… sigh.
Or the combat ceptors which are absolutely useless these days. Or the useless changes to ships in the last patch (drones on CNI or Eagle or more DPS on Abaddon). CCP sure knows what’s going on.
As a follow up on my previous posts about this stupid discovery feature: Instead of tinkering with yet another new menu approach – which is total garbage, by the way, because you spread menu options all over the Agency window instead of concentrating them on one place – you should have made it possible to keep persistence when you open the Agency via a menu option for those who want that. This should have been an addition to the bookmarks because they can be used for other important parts of the Agency you may want to access quickly.
With every update we seem to get some things to like, like a many-times-requested restored Agent Finder - and things not to like. Rare discoveries like finding a dead-end pocket with 10 relic/data sites waiting “just for you” - will become even more rare. But this added exposure of Cosmic Signatures might succeed, as a conflict driver.
Pockets getting drained quicker is a downer. At the same time this is what people really care about, no matter how nicely worded walls of text they write here. You don’t care about newbies and CCP knows that.
correction edit: damn, post below made realize there’s outcry as if sigs are going to be named at distance and I thought that too lol. Well even better, let’s see this “chase” after wormhole and drone site sigs. LOL people calling themselves explorers who refuse to change their usual space when there’s about to be more competition (assuming it even changes that much) but they still demand the one and only true exploration ways of the old. “Mastered craft” of bunch of lazy hypocrites calling others hypocrites.
