Devblog: Security Update - Q1 2019

Plenty of multiboxers get together with singleboxers and other multiboxers to make bigger fleets, man. I’ve done it for PVE and PVP. Stop with the multibox hate. Unless they’re breaking the input broadcasting ban or botting, it’s fine.

Interesting stuff. Doesn’t the asset safety tax/fee really make that unproductive, though?

Of course not.

First, i am strongly supporting the fight against the BOT guys and RMT. But, not allow alpha clones to make level 4 & 5 missions is totally wrong.

This has nothing to do with BOT. This is another restrictive measure which make the alpha clones non - playable clones put them out of options to make some ISK. The only option they actually have is to buy PLEX from new eden store. How convenient!

Personally, i have an omega account and i was training one of my clones to do level 4 missions when my omega status will expire. Obviously, you destroyed my game.

Potential changes have been discussed, yes

Thank you for your work, the bots have killed Faction Warfare, might be a good idea to separate the 2 sides as far as plexing goes, they can still fight each other but can’t plex the others side.

February 2019 - botting is possible for free
March 2019 - botting is possible when you pay

What’s the difference?

Best comment!

Why can’t you keep paying, instead of freeloading?

It hurts the botters/RMTers income.

By what margin? 1%, 5%, 80%?

Grass, gas, or ass, there’s no free rides friend.

Do i have to report whole Period Basis everyday or just once per week to see some bans?

You will now know of someone with just one account: My sister. No, I will not give out her name.

Be careful there. I have 3 accounts, but rarely have more than one logged in at a time. People with many accounts in general do not run them all at once. So 30k accounts on line does not mean 15k players, but some unknown larger number.

CCP, I strongly suggest the creation of an in-game tool to assist us in taking them down.
If we report a bot for input broadcasting as an example:
lets say we see 5 players in a site, such as mining.
We witness broadcasting… We should be able to open the in-game tool, lock it onto the suspect characters and run the tool on them right then and there.
If the tool (which sees data we can’t from the server) detects statistically improbable input patterns (less than a tick broadcasts etc) it should immediately place those targetted toons into hiatus and allow their ships to be destroyed and looted. The server would have to keep logs on those players (all players actually) going back about an hour. The log would get analysed by the tool and report results within say 5 minutes. Maybe make it fun, require a module on the player’s ship! like a data analyzer.

The affected players should be allowed an appeal, but if the tool is designed right it would be nearly impossible to have a false positive.

This increases the size of the army taking these thieves down by quite a bit. May I suggest huge Concord Isk or LP payouts for successfully reporting bots. For example, we get 60mil for killing a dread, and reporting bots is a harder better thing to do, so I suggest we get some % of the seized assets and say 500 PLEX for our trouble.

Happy to help define such a tool. Reach out in-game if you like.

Idk about stopping botting really since I still see a lot of that crap in high sec ice fields big time to the point most newer indy people don’t even mine ice in high sec since null sec alliances will have 15 bots all mining one ice field and push anyone out ! I reported a lot in my time and they still always their on the clock ! They know how to trick CCP into using bots to mine but still working in front the desk to respond to it making it look like they are not !

Much as I love the idea of involving players to help against botting, the proposed tool could have drawbacks. Bot writers are highly adaptive. If you give them a tool to verify exactly when their scripts can be identified as botting, they will evolve their algorithms to ensure that they can’t be detected by the tool.

Any thoughts about removing the ability to be a CEO or creating a corporation from Alpha accounts? This would cut down on the ability to shuffle around dirty isk between holding companies and cut down on holding companies in general, which isn’t a bad thing.
