I thought CCPFalcon said it was across all space, not just hi sec
âLol, people complaining about cutting free to play options. CCP donât get money from you.â Actually, this is incorrect. Without potential PLEX buyers like me, people wouldnât buy extra PLEX and put it on the market. So, CCP does get more money from people that buy PLEX indirectly because of people like me.
Also there are some mission runners that stay in non-capsuleer school corps and help newbies
While I would rather have bots and RMT removed, the f2p people arenât by no means redundant to the game. They do have influence on supply and demand of various items and ships, they donât create as much isk inflation as null because missions have most of their value 1st in LP 2nd in loot and salvage if someone does that. And we can pretty easily say if they stay they do buy plex at some point so they do contribute to CCP revenue. And then thereâs social factor, they make friendships and more people stay in the game if they have friends in it, which doesnât have to mean none of those friends sub or pay $ for plex.
And then thereâs means to invite more people to the game if it can be started free. Obviously not 100% newbros just goes for L4s and stays there right?
Sure, but those arenât necessarily alphas.
Dear CCP,
hearing that the decision has been made to place all level 4 and 5 missions behind the requirement to have Omega status, to assist the fight against RMT and botting is pretty sad.
No doubt many honest capsuleers will be affected by the companyâs inadequacy to fight RMT and botting at a more specific targeting of the individuals involved,
but instead the company chooses an unilateral ban an all alphaâs getting to play and provide content.
We get to see the effects of low (and or) poor resources ccpgames has to invest in its customers.

ps: also it just happens to be a profitable way to turn casual alphaâs into omegaâs concerning lvl 4 missions.
Iâm potential plex buyer, in fact in my 6 year carrer I was subbed for 6 months only. This all was before âEvE is freeâ â â â â â â â â . This game has best sub/ gameplay model. You donât even have to play to get xp/sp. Now some weird crowd comes to the sandbox, they want more and more with nothing in return. EvE wonât die because f2p players wonât have access to top tier missions. If cutting down f2p options will help fight bots I wonât care about alphas. You are guest here. Contribute first.
Thank you, those are very good points. One of my motivations for getting the PLEX for Omega is to go past Tech I Battleships, and get a marauder. The Paladin specifically, looks really shiny and fun to fly.
Introducing f2p model did not work. Playerbase even shrinked, so in theory, yes what you writing has some good points, but reality is different. F2p model supposed to bring more players and they supposed to hooked up and upgrade to paying omega.
Thing is that many casual alphas will be driven off with restricting L4 security missions. Including people that buy PLEX for cash one time to get convenient mission running fittings
CCP desperately needed numbers before sale and introduce alphas to show âhow much gamers are interested in EVEâ and now what ? Instead of denying content to alphas better solution will be to put new and better contenet for omegas on the table. But that is hard and need work to be done, denying is much easier just put to new limit in code and go for beer in pub.
I would also like to see pirate ships looked at regarding Alpha access, especially the Gila.
I also believe that making ice belts into cosmic signatures (like the old grav sites) would help combat possible botting fleets. Ice is valuable, move it around and make players actively scan for it. It is too predictable when ice belts will spawn with many players setting alarms for the next spawn.
The more unpredictable you make the game, the harder it is for cheaters to succeed. Letâs shake it up!
Mind posting some numbers that support the alpha mission ban? Kinda feels out of nowhere. Iâve seen distribution bots for years so I can at least understand that part of it, but combat lv4s seem less popular than ever. Or going full tinfoil here is it just some sneaky move to push new players to nullsec to vni rat because the null metrics look nicer?
yea about thatâŚ
putting people in space seems to be the whole point of alpha accounts, this seems like a good outcome of having alphas.
Alpha Gila has poor usability without blingy fit with blingy implants
If you like a game enough to read longish threads on a board, spend time optimizing alphas to earn ISK to buy plex, etc⌠buy a f****** subscription and stop whining. In the current state of things, this is that or loot boxes, emotes and dance movesâŚ
FTP was introduced as a way of driving more people to try eve, it probably has failed (I have no idea on how the business/conversion rate is from CCPâs point of view). It seems it has not succeeded fully and has had many side effects, so I wouldnât even care a bit if it was abruptly shut down.
âIâm potential plex buyer, in fact in my 6 year carrer I was subbed for 6 months only.â
âYou are guest here. Contribute first.â
Excuse me, but I was subscribed for a few years before they went free to play, then quit for a few years to play other games, and now I am returning as a free player, to get a feel for how the game has changed since I left. But I did contribute. I was a paying subscriber for a lot longer than you, so please donât talk down to me and call me a âguest.â
âEvE wonât die because f2p players wonât have access to top tier missions.â
If they kill my reason for playing, it might as well be dead to me.
âIf cutting down f2p options will help fight bots I wonât care about alphas.â
Except, I doubt this will actually do anything to stop botters.
Not really. Remember how alpha training works. If you go Omega for a month, and train Caldari Cruisers to V, when you drop back to Alpha⌠itâs still a V. So Gila alphas can get fully-trained for the ship, and then drop to alpha, and still be just as effective.
But theyâll still go with bling, because the whole point of the character is being able to make money, which means they can afford the bling.
I personally know people who did go for plex, one of them mailed me in game saying itâs because of my help he did go for omega. I would rather see up-to-date official numbers, if you have them Iâll gladly see them. If Eve canât keep players through f2p start then Iâm pretty sure it would be even worse without f2p.
Thereâs just way more to it than f2p being the main factor between people staying or not.
However it may be the main factor to try the game at all for many players.
And even with no f2p, botters would just do their thing anyway. Even with no f2p thereâs sp farming to afford paid time now, for example.
except being alpha caps the skills contribution as if it were only trained to lv4. so pretty much in your case you have a million SP locked doing nothing.
Isnât usable alpha skill for racial cruisers limited to IV?
