So wrecking the market through direct manipulation is the CSM way…
Remote injection would have been simpler, would have caused some problems for some re-sellers, but not all… breaking the market is not good

I always loved going to the market and buying skills. It made me read a lot of skill descriptions and i usually injected 10-15 skills at once even if i didnt need that right away. It was fun and engaing to leave Mining or Mission running alone for 10 minutes and do some research on skills and the jumping 4 gates part never bothered anyone.
As someone who imports skill books, it appears they’ve left out some details. In the examples, the skills on demand are selling for the current NPC price. This would basically stop the market of skill books for the majority of skills that are widely available.
I’m not opposed to this, as it is to the benefit of the vast majority of players.
There is the exceedingly vague wrap-up statement “As part of the rollout of these changes, we’ll also be looking at the base price of all skills.” with no hint of what this means.
The pricing of the skills from NPC vendors is the key data point missing. When should we expect a further update?
Seems like an immediate question newbros would have is why can I only purchase X skills, how do I acquire Y skills? Which leads to explaining how to purchase skills, but this change is being done to avoid that…
I don’t see any downsides really, just pointing that out.
And since you’re changing skills, now is a GREAT time to think about adding additional skill attribute respecs (3 per year instead of 1 per year would be great!). Ya’ll mentioned years ago that you viewed the attribute system as problematic…but haven’t followed through on any changes. Extra respecs is a great band-aid.
I agree 100%. I’m not for this change one bit, just stating a personal observation of mine.
@Cpt_WhiteEye How did you feel about the change to restrictions on injecting (ie, you don’t need prereqs to inject a skill)?
I didnt care at all to be honest because i already had 80% of skills
It’s a UI mock, there, Chester. Relax.
They’re hedging because they don’t want to tip off any specific patch arbitrage opportunities. This is normal.
Letting genuine newbies pick up basic skills like this seems fine, but the devblog implies that any “core” skill will be purchasable this way, and that the only skills not classified as “core” skills are those that are obtained through PVE such as the triglavian skills. Skills like Gallente Titan, Capital Industrial Ships, Heavy Fighters, and Minmatar Carrier are all sold by NPCs, so you presumably classify them as “core” skills - are you really OK with making it even easier for veteran players to roll up specialized capital and supercapital alts?
I feel like this is exactly the way this is heading. This is essentially CCP poking into the market which was supposed to be entirely player driven.
I may be getting way ahead of myself, maybe paranoid, but I’ve seen other Korean MMOs go down this path and CCP is walking it right now. Microtransactions, bought by Koreans, ship skins, cosmetics, etc. Aion and Tera has already done this and where are they now? Unpopulated servers are being merged as the player base is rapidly shrinking. I don’t want EVE to become yet another Korean MMO which only cares about endgame content and gives a solid rocket booster for new players to catch up in hours.
Yes, the blog said, skill times will stay and that in the end of the day you still have to buy those skills. For now. But I’ve seen this in Lineage 2, where you used to have to go to the shop and buy your skills or earn the skill books. Nowadays you just do it whenever and wherever. This whole skill point injection is a terrible idea IMO, as it is an invite for P2W and RMT.
Why, CCP?
@Mina_Bluerain Until you can buy a titan skillbook directly with plex…
Not helpful, or particularly wise

This means, we will be restructuring the pricing they are seeded for. There will also be a decent % markup on the char sheet purchased skills, retaining a good amount of margin for sellers.
Love this change.
Having to spend the 2 hours you dedicated to Eve some random day jumping around to places you never go looking to grab a simple skillbook so you can get to what you really wanted to do that day is not a great look.
I’m going to rip this apart.
with the objective of simplifying some of the flow and allowing easier access and understanding.
Multiple dozens of tens of thousands of people before managed to grasp how it works. The reason, why this is being “simplified” and made “more accessible”, is because they want to reach out to those who aren’t smart enough to grasp how it works currently. That is NOT an improvement, despite what some NUMBERS might be showing!
This translates into lowering the average IQ of the playerbase … yet again … and the only thing that actually benefits is CCP’s wallet in the short term. In the long term they’re going to suffer from the consequences of having an ever increasing amount of stupids in their game.
The system is difficult to understand and requiring knowledge of a secondary system – the market – to be able to set up a solid skill plan during the first steps of their new life as a capsuleer.
Yes, Imagine that. They need to use their brains for doing something. Again, multiple dozens of tens of thousands had no problem, yet apparently for some reason it is one. It isn’t. This is yet another attempt at reaching out towards those who aren’t actually smart enough to grasp this game.
We don’t want the need to travel to gather skills posing a barrier to training and we want to ensure that pilots spend less time obtaining skills to train
reduce confusion
There would be no confusion if you didn’t bring in more and more people who aren’t smart enough to figure it out for themselves. Every time you’re making things easier to grasp for people who aren’t that smart, you’re going to find more things that are “too complicated to grasp”, not because they are, but because your playerbase turns dumber on average.
These things look great on paper and in theory, and likely improve some numbers, yet again it more and more looks like EVE is going the same way as all the other games who constantly had to dumb ■■■■ down because they needed more dumb people to milk out of their money.
We have considered this, and will be adding the info needed to obtain the ‘rare’ skills on the char sheet
Answer the question - this change represents direct market manipulation by CCP - what is next - do our new overlords plan to sell ships in the same way - is the market to be sacrificed for $
