Devblog: Spring Balance Update Incoming!

luckily there are many null sec focused csm members who can represent those people

you do realise the normal players where useing their Carriers and supers to get Money to sustain their homes and Corporations.

By changeing the risk versus reward into pay to win they will seek other means to sustain their corp and homes and that leads to guess what ? rmt and botting thats right.

so by thinking your aktually lowering or hurting the botters and rmt you aktually make them stronger. are you that naive you cannot see it ?

@CCP_Falcon @Sort_Dragon @CSM Generally I like all of these changes and agree they need to be done (the diminishing returns for reps in particular), BUT you are being overzealous on the Rorq and here is why:

  1. The reductions in tank and PANIC are fine.
  2. The increase in Excav size is also fine.
  3. Excavs do not need a 20% nerf to their productivity. Here’s why:
  • Rorquals mining Spod only make about the equivalent of 45m isk per “tick”.
-This is a little above VNIs, but well below what is possible with ships like the carrier or super carrier.

  • Rorquals cost 10B isk to fit well, mostly in their drones.
-Putting the drones at increased risk is fine.

  • Rorquals are fat, slow, and immobile while in use. They are a net CREATOR of content.

  • Excavs are slow and can be destroyed if the pilot doesn’t pay attention or react fast enough.
    -They also generate kill mails.

*** In terms of mining, Rorquals meet CCPs long ago stated goal of a more active type of mining.**
-A rorqual pilot “doing it right” is constantly monitoring the area for threats, carefully watching the asteroids so as not to waste a cycle, compressing ore to save space, keeping the field clear of rats, etc.

*** In an attack the pilot must complete a fairly complex procedure in order to be saved. Here is an example:**

1. Recall excavs
2. Make sure WETU is open (on your inventory screen)
3. Switch to drone bay.
4. Locate excavs
5. Place excavs in WETU
6. Remove non-combat modules
7. Install combat modules
8. Get D-Scan of enemy
9. Contact alliance Fleet Commander
10. Provide intel to Fleet Commander
11. Monitor Tank and Capacitor
12. Attempt to ward off enemy where possible
13. Attempt to escape, if possible
14. When tank or capacitor fails, PANIC
15. Pray

If you are multiboxing Rorquals, multiply steps 1-7, 11, 12, and 13 by the number of Rorquals being multiboxed, and remember, you have to complete steps 1-7 FOR EACH RORQUAL FIRST.

To everyone celebrating the Rorqual nerf, I get it. Rorquals have been proliferating. They seem like big, invincible money printing machines. As a person who flies them, I admit, they’re great. I also admit you probably have too much room for error with them in terms of tank and the PANIC.

What they are not however, is overpowered in terms of economic output. They are certainly the apex mining vessel, no doubt about it, but they should be - given their cost, SP requirement, and player skill/management requirement. I am fine with the nerfs to Rorqual survivability, they do not need a nerf to output on top of it.

Hold off on the output nerf. See how the rest of the changes from the patch plays out first. If they still don’t die and inflation or whatever doesn’t go down, then proceed, but as it stands that specific change is unnecessarily harsh.

Would it be possible to remove fleet members from d-scan? would that be overpowered? would be damn useful xD

Thus why I’m saying that a lowsec CSM member trolling the null line members with actual complaints isn’t a good representation of the CSM…

Hulks do a way better job for mining moons than rorquals, especially if you have many rorquals competing for the same moon.

On the other hand- Besides the months of training required for each step
a VNI pays itself in a few hours - no meaningful change
a C5 wormhole dread pays itself in a few hours - no change
a carrier pays itself in about 10-20 hours - nerf so it can die faster, YEY…
a rorqual pays itself in about 80-100 hours - nerf it so you can only recover 30 hours instead of 50, although excavators are paper thin and if you alt tab 10 seconds and get a proper belt spawn it doesn’t need more then that to get 1 drone killed, not to mention booshers, bombers, t3’s that can set you back not just those 10/hours drone but way more because you are left with nothing to get that back in the first place. ( if you start in a rorq with t2 drones it may take up to 100 hours or more just to get a full set- that you might lose way easier than anything else in this game)
a super carrier needs around 100-150 hours of ratting to pay itself - nerf it yeey!
a titan ( that isk printer everyone is blaming) needs well over 250-300 hours to recover not to mention hundreds of hours of grindings to get it.
I know Eve is made out of losing stuff, but where is that line drawn? When can you say that some losses are not demoralizing enough to just quit a game?
Making isk harder to get, nerfing yields that make stuff more expensive, nerfing ships that are already prime targets for blopers/campers/gangs…when is this gonna stop? I’m not saying you should go the other way round, but at least go sideways, don’t impact what is already on edge of working.

You should educate yourself. Suitonia’s been everything from highsec to j-space, including a period in Karmafleet. He’s not ignoring nullsec pilots, he’s just doing what a representative should do: using his best judgment to represent your interests, not your desires. No matter how much you want something, if a CSM thinks that thing would be bad for the overall health of the game, then that CSM owes it to you to work to prevent that thing from happening.

Thats fair, you can hold that opinion, personally it just makes me more likely to vote for him if he runs again because I find it funny

That is a very self centered statement, and sounds like bonafide response that the nerf will effect the economy as intended. Lowsec mining exists btw.

What are you talking about no-one would ever mine in lowsec!

Not sure how it’s related to the devblog, but you can already sort of do that yourself.
Coordinate with your fleet to make the ship names recognisable as member of your fleet and you will be able to recognise people on dscan that aren’t in your fleet. (Unless the enemy is smart, notices it and renames his ship as well.)

That’s a long list. Ours is:

  1. recall excavs.
  2. join standing fleet
  3. Speak up on comms.
  4. if cyno inhib is anchoring, light cyno.
  5. Do what they’re told in comms.
  6. wait for the supercarriers to jump in, all eager to kill things.

Look at the MER.

Then tell me that the amount of isk and minerals entering the game is sustainable long term. Something had to be done.

You really represent the mining and industrial community with your point of view.

Ah yes, he is using his best judgement to troll us rather than give us a legitimate reply to our complaints. Very good job being a CSM representative.
Also, simply living in null/j-space for a small period of time doesn’t change the fact that he is clearly biased towards lowsec. Maybe you forgot how he became CSM, because null alliances sure as hell didn’t vote him in.
I don’t mind the bias, I think lowsec needs a good representative, but I don’t think that representative should come and troll nullsec members simply because he thinks it’s funny. Maybe they’ll think it’s funny to find a new game to play and leave his CSM title worthless…

@Suitonia, is it wrong that I think it’s hilarious he’s saying this to you?

I thought only I got called a troll for disagreeing with people over here.

Anyone else here starting to aktually Think CSM is less and less representing the people of eden aka eve and more representing their own pockets ?

Csm was made to help further the oppinions and ideas and problems and developements to CCP.

Csm was suppose to help uss and protect us from RMT and botters and nerfs that would truly hurt the lawful abiding capsulers of eve.

Yet i have never witnessed this and well now here we are the front gate to the RMT hell that will be unleashed upon the game if this patch goes live.

Thus why barely anybody uses these forums for legitimate help. They just get trolled because it’s funny, and when legitimate representatives do the same thing it ruins the reputation of the game and makes the players feel helpless.

But you have fun laughing while eve dies due to lack of legitimate feedback from the community.

I along with others would strongly support removing HAWs from Titan use entirely and make them dread only. Force Titan blobs to have additional sub-cap screen on grid. And yes, in null they’ll still have Bosonic…

It’s actually the opposite, because many of these changes - especially the NSA nerf - hit botters harder than players who are actually at their computer.
