Devblog: Spring Balance Update Incoming!

even they are thought and discussed for years does not mean they are good

If changes get implemented, they will be at most 10-15% difference between them

Exactly the reason behind these changes: to make carriers, supers and rorqs more vulnerable to ensure natural cycle of manufacturing and destruction happens even on that level, especially on that level.

this is just a straight up lie btw

there will still be a significant advantage to the rorq, plus the fact that to get good numbers from the hulk you need a rorq there to hold are and provide boosts

see you on killboard soon

You know what drives PLEX and injector sales really well? Making caps more powerful than everything else. Forcing everyone to inject into caps if they want to compete. Forcing everyone to inject multiple cap alts because all that matters in a cap fight is how many caps you bring. Forcing everyone to inject into Rorquals to mine because they’re obviously way better than everything else.

THAT drives sales and it’s been the status quo for the last 3 years. If anything we should all be livid that these balance changes didn’t happen sooner, before so many people spent so much money injecting their way to the top.

I am fortunate to be unaffected by the changes to the Rorqual as I have always Fleet Mined. I simply point out that the pursuit to draw parity between Capitals and SubCaptals where none should exist will have a hard currency cost to CCP.

CCP made a decision to ban multicasting and input broadcasting years ago. It was the right thing to do and it cost them money. It was a decision of principal. This balance pass is not and will very likely cost future revenue to implement it.

Every Combat Capital Pilot that changes to sub caps out of frustration will ‘Fly Free’ because the majority of subcaps can have Alpha pilots. How many subs lost can the game endure?

It only hurt’s revenue in the short run but because its better for the health of the game more people will join so more unique players less alt’s.

More people are not going to join

I am talking about the average player again, not bots that stay up 24/7.
In a normal play time/day they might end up doing the same yield over time after changes.
I checked the average income for my Rorqual and it rarely exceeds 100m/h which is not much, because you have to take into consideration warping in and out of belt, travel times to rock, bumps, inactive cores times, etc, and you end up with around 40-45 minutes of actual mining maybe less per hour (that if you don’t stay on a 1 mil m3 collosal spod rock). On the other hand you got the hulk that can mine non stop (ofc boosted and with compression, we are talking about late game here). So on paper and in game conditions they might get a tighter difference than that 10-15% that I initially said,
There are advantages of a Rorqual but they come with disadvantages as well.

Extract it and re-allocate it.

so in order to get this hulk that you’d rather use over the rorq, you do in fact need a rorq

Hardly any capital pilots will change to subcaps out of frustration because they know one capital is still way better than one subcap. Especially an alpha account subcap.

As drastic as these changes look not much is going to change, mark my words. People will still mine in rorqs, rat in supers, PVP in titans and so on. But it’s a first step in a direction that will fix this absurd state of affairs where people feel like they have to inject multiple alts into capitals just to “play the game properly”.

■■■■■■■■! for more than one reason:
1st From a financial perspective it doesn’t matter one iota if alt or as you call it ‘unique player’ - subscription fee is a subscription fee.
Does not increase if it’s submitted by a ‘unique player’ or by a ‘unique player’ for his alt(s)

2nd Eve player numbers have been dwindling since many years now, mostly because players got feed up with senseless changes like this latest, and there was never a big enough influx of new players to compensate for those lost ones. - Why do you think CCP had to sell out to Pearl Abyss in the first place? Due to awesome income statements eh?

I certainly hope you are right.

I wouldn’t describe this change as senseless by any means

do you think Pearl Abyss would buy a game if they thought it was dying?

I left because I got fed up with sensible changes like this not being made. I know plenty of other PVPers who feel the same, whole corps even.

So hey, you say one thing, I say another. Neither of us know the truth.

I’ve always had a Rorqual booster in any part of the Null space I’ve played, and yes most of the time you will have guys around you that help with that. I mean this is EVE after all, in any part of Eve you WILL find a Rorqual that is boostin, because game has reached a maturity in this part already. So it’s time for a new perspective.

Why not, If the game inst about getting to a capital then new player’s will be able to join the community much faster than having to spend 5 years training into cap’s.

Because it’s good business practice to purchase a failing company
