Devblog: Spring Balance Update Incoming!

supers and carriers die every day en mass, it’s clearly impossible too catch them.

It won’t, no. Right now, I’m not seeing any reason at all to move away from massed Ferox formations. The Harb’s been floated as a ‘look, it was buffed, we should use that!’ but it still won’t have the range, the speed, or the tank of the Ferox.

You say speed but forget that that speed comes with a 1500+m signature radius. There will be no battleship in the game that will be even remotely capable of missing any of those Feroxes.

If you bring 200 hurricanes to meet 100 Feroxes, you have lost that fight before one shot has been fired.

If I’m gonna bring 200 hurricanes, I’m gonna be using them on something that wants volley damage, not dps. And why would I only bring 200?

I’d say it’s less about what you or I want and more about CCP’s vision for nullsec. If they don’t want actual fights to be commonplace then fine, the people who are looking for that can stay unsubbed and play something else instead. No big deal. If they do, well, they know what they have to do.

As long as supers remain the best solution to any problem you’re of course free to drop them on whoever screws with your miners, I’d do the same thing to defend my space.

Because of the Bots. I can quite see why they’ve done it, which is a pity as it’s by far my favourite ship :unamused:

Or, you know, those people can go mess with other groups their own size. There’s plenty of room in null for that.

Or just go into Provi. They can’t get organized enough to drop supers on anyone.

All that does is drive more and more people into the biggest groups who can cockslap everyone with supers. I think you know that.

So if people who want small gang fights in null go and fight other people in null who want small gang fights… that’ll make those people who want small gang fights join the biggest groups?

What?

I don’t know, it sounds kind of like you’re saying you don’t want fights, you want victims.

Great update! This is a positive step in the right direction. Lets make eve great again!

Yeah I do want victims too. They’re a great catalyst for fights that actually means something rather than an arranged gentleman’s duel with nothing real on the line.

And maybe I want a certain level of risk to be inherent to nullsec no matter what you do there.

But again, it’s not up to you or me.

How ironic…

Edit : A friend wisely reminded me that talking on the Eve Forums is like a box of chocolates.
I’m just going to shut up and chew.

Delve, fountain, I see carriers, supers, and rorqs die all the time. I have no idea what the percentage is, but it’s enough to where it’s scary to fly them. Most of the time there is no one coming to help, if they do, you got lucky.

A lot of people who don’t live in Delve and the surrounding areas seem to assume that Delve inhabitants are all totally safe, botting, input broadcasting or completely afk and not much that you say will convince them otherwise sadly.

I never said anything about arranging fights. You go and hit the miners or ratters of another group that wants a fight, you’ll get a fight. And they’ll come hit you. The only ones who’re likely to decide ‘screw this, we’re going to the big blocs’ are the ones who won’t give you a fight in the first place.

So if your objection to hunting people your own size is ‘then they’ll go to the big blocs’, don’t tell me you’re looking for catalysts for fights, because that’s not the victims you’re hunting.

As for ‘a certain level of risk’… there is one. You want to look at 60+ excavators dying in a single system in a 100 minute window and tell me there’s no risk? That’s a fully-fitted titan’s worth of drones, killed by half a dozen bombers, using nothing more than some bombs. And most of the delay was them going to get more bombs.

umm yeah, have you not see the economy reports. Thats self explanatory.

Yeah, it says there’s close to 40,000 characters in there. You could be mining in ventures with 40,000 characters and you’d see staggering numbers :stuck_out_tongue:

What a small group of rather vociferous players always ask for, actually. And - you can’t know that “it’s never looked at”, it may well have been “looked at” several times, but with CCP concluding that no change was necessary.

Dammit, now I have to agree with you!
