Devblog: Updates to Sales Taxes & Brokers Fees

It appears to me to be a pro-Omega decision, since Alpha can’t train enough Trade to get around the higher taxes on top of their tax surcharge. For a game that screams “Play for Free”, it’s not a wise decision, so I, too, would love to know what they’re smoking.

well was a long time since taxes and stuff was touched by CCP so imo its not a biggie. I plex with cash most of the times these days since i dont have time to pve to make isk like i did when i was younger.
Wish that Mission running and other pve activity rewards could scale up same time as this change goes live
Also wish insurance could be had from ship modules and not only ship hull… if anyone of the developers looked at star citizen, I think Eve could learn a few things from their development. Although please do not introduce module wear and tear from warping etc, that would drive eve players nuts i think.

Allow for differences in taxes in different regions. Allow the Minmatar to lower their taxes or the Amarr to raise theirs and make it always in flux so that people aren’t always heading to jita to sell their loot - “this week the taxes are lower in hek, lets go sell our loot there”.

It will cause people with standings to one faction to suffer when another faction reduces their taxes and they don’t have standings with that faction.

This will also move action and trade routes around the map and help fuel the chaos we all want to have.

So after food and more thought…

Premise: CCP is about to nuke HS NPC station (well most of the markets at least)

Setting the stage…

  • With NS in a new state of flux, the big players are focusing on the new meta, defense, expansion and well, adapting they can’t overly commit to HS.
  • The Triglavian are going to start a rolling purge of HS NPC stations focusing mainly on markets and indi/mining support.
  • CONCORDE, New Player NPC corps, SB stations, FW stations, etc all wont be touched.
  • The purge will probably start in one region for each empire and roll on to the main hubs over the course of a few weeks.
  • Player owned stations will now actually be important in HS

What will happen?

  • To make HS more like LS in that it’s player driven/controlled BUT still safe for new players and covered by laws (Concord)
  • HS will become a warzone like NS except with strict rules or engagement
  • The WarDec changes we’ve seen all factor into this…
  • CCP hasn’t touched Rorqs or ore availability because there is going to be a massive battles soon in both HS and LS

And finally, I think CCP knows that EVE is nearing it’s end (in a few years) and this is an attempt at a reset. One that will make HS more like NS yet still be noob safe. The NS folks just had their plans tossed into a blender BUT the jewlz of HS are now in their grasp.

I predict this is what’s in store for the fall/winter…chaos…

And it could be great!

Low sec and NPC null sec should be exempt from these taxes. There’s hardly any trade in these regions, and anyone who takes the risk to trade is going to get penalized further.

JULY 29: “These changes will be live on Singularity tomorrow for testing.”

JULY 30 (13:43): I’m not seeing the changes. Have they been updated on Sisi or am I missing something?

Omegas are hit by this too.

More new players will use citadel markets.

exactly!. They didn’t even address it at all. O.o

It does make us rethink what we’ll train first, doesn’t it?

I do not understand the reasoning of even releasing this information without an explanation. It is rude at best :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you for beating me to that comment…

Oh, wow.

Two relevant questions:

  • How much additional income is this change forecast to generate for CCP? 1.75% from sales related transactions?

  • How much extra does this penalise Alpha accounts, that are less likely/able to benefit from skill training related savings on the cost of buying and selling?

Because LS is so popular now? Any model that moves HS to be more like LS with its worst risk vs reward in the game is a bad idea.

The game doesn’t so much need an isk sink as a cut to the most obvious problem in the game–bounties and the main ships that make huge amounts of it.

… do… do you think CCP is paid in in-game ISK? I…

Wow. My mind is genuinely blown. I share oxygen with these people. Why?

It’s great to see so many people who deeply care about the burden this will place on Alpha accounts and are not just using them as a prop for the rhetorical value of speaking on someone else’s behalf instead of for their own benefit.
