Devblog: Updates to Sales Taxes & Brokers Fees

I’m more worried about price increases in general to those that don’t train accounting, I personally have had higher priorities since joining the game training wise than watching npc station taxes (main trade hub of the game) rise. This isn’t just hurting alphas, or omegas either, but any and all new bros out to get their first ship after starter missions are done.

Dear, CCP

I really like the latest changes and I want to suggest more:

  1. Wear and tear from warping!
  2. Fuel for warping / AB / MWD and just general flying around
  3. Remove ship insurance
  4. Remove asset safety
  5. Respawn ore / ice rounds once per week (not every day)
  6. Make taxes even higher
  7. Remove criminal timers
  8. Reduce security status penalties for attacking / killing players ships / pods
  9. Rise the PLEX prices (real currency)
  10. Nerf the loot tables

I hope these changes will help you get rid of the players faster than you do now  Fly safe o7 and no need to thank me for these great ideas, CCP.

It is an experiment in economics. tax for isk sink to pull isk out of game. reduce isk generation via blackout. intended result. less isk over all. however…
prices go up as players add co sell prices to cover the tax. maybe prices go down because fewer people can afford things, or… maybe they don’t because people still want things. no way of knowing which way it will go
will surely create a greater have and have not gap.
impact on inflation probably none at all just another annoying set of skills to train that have nothing to do with gameplay to fulfil the need to genearate this era of chaos.

When the ship breaks in half and
you finally hear the music fade away…

clap

Great I can’t login the ■■■■■■■ game to unsubscribe, I can’t even reach the account management website!

You are not far wrong - this is encouraging the acceptance of a risk factor when using player owned structures, at the present there is no risk and as such this may be the precursor to removal of asset safety.

The isk sink (removal of isk from the game) that is asset safety will need to be replaced with something and this tax seems a likely candidate. Tho it may seem that the weight of this tax falls on people using the NPC stations some fee’s are also levied in player owned stations.

On principle alone, not offering any purpose for this added isk sink, for me meansI won’t be spending any more of my hard earned, real life cash on this game. Who do you think you are CCP? How disrespectful to such a loyal player base.

There are still paying consumers on eve , they have not run off yet . they are headed in the right direction I think they’re trying to just get rid of the game . Maybe they are sick of working for nothing , no pay /low pay , or no recognition at all . Most players left after the chinese merger for that 1 week , the rest left after when they promoted killing the high sec miners that worked a full time job to buy the plex they are hocking . It’s fine hell for 6 years I’ve kept 3 subs going to just train skills $45 a month plus buying $500-$800 in plex a month to top my deadspace/officer stuff off . It’s time to just say goodbye . lol If they had another server that was greifer free such as a pve server with faction warfare as the only pvp , or sold wormholes that only who you designate can enter they would get back 90% of the players that left and be bank rolling all their projects .
But pride has it’s merit also and not swallowing it is worthy of recognition as well . Good luck CCP

A 1.25% increase in sales tax (which is what it works out to) isn’t going to drive the nullsec carebears out. So far, none of this will.

My biggest question here is why they’re increasing the ability of accounting/broker relations to heavily mitigate the change.

This makes the change immensely punishing to new players with no market skills, while being less important to anyone with like 2 million SP to put into trading.

What are we telling new players with this? “Trading is good but first go afk for 2 months to skill up”? “Don’t buy plex until you can also buy 4 skill injectors to get your plex sale taxes down”?

Why would you micro-target this change like this?

Even their RP is a lie. “Your taxes protect New Eden” with a picture of a triglavian. Concord refuse to fight triglavians. This is real government.

Yes I agree, I am reading this news after my first three months, and one day to go yet before my upgrade to Omega. I have also recently bought plex (just before they announced the 15% sale, annoyingly) to buy skins and now to be taxed in game on the Plex balance I have left when I sell it for ISK is really disappointing - this is a direct tax increase on RL money invested for ISK conversion… I use the markets every day as buyer and seller, and paying what is well over double the rate of broker fees and tax is not welcome news at all.

I do wonder despite asking us to comment on these news releases if ever CCP actually do come back and read the comments, and see often how poor the customer reaction is … does make me wonder on the longevity of subscribing for the future - why do successful games always end up dumping on their own customers and alienating their player bases… just seems to be a ‘shoot in the foot’ syndrome that so many games providers fall into once they have a huge player base they do everything they can to self destruct

Best way to do away with isk inflation and botting is remove NPC bounties. Increasing taxes will not help with either.

CCP does not want people to make money in game. They have implemented several things to stop mining. F.O.B. Triglavian and black outs. If you make to much ISK you can buy Plex and not pay for subscriptions.

As far as I understand it these changes will make it difficult for new players trading in the game? I and many of my friends found trading to be more interesting, exciting and risky than simply mission running, mining or hi sec ratting when starting. Trading needs to be encouraged.

I’m Sorry, but this is total BS… This is going to gouge player markets, make it harder to make profits, make it more difficult for new players to get started, destabilize assets, and force players either to join corps or buy their own structures… Equal consideration should be given to new players, solo players, and those who don’t have the ability to invest in their own structures… This is going to hurt the new player experience and negatively affect the 4% of new players who actually continue in the game… The game is quickly becoming all about CCP modifying the game to make more money from it…just like they are starting to do with putting skins up in the store without any regard to destroying player investments in those markets… I’m getting totally POed with this game turning into PvCCP…

The increase of minimum taxes is for me for me unacceptable. We pay monthly fees, training times is more than 22 years. Don’t you get enough money already that you have to use taxes to try to get more money from the players? It is clearly becoming a game where you can play freely to lose and have to pay to win. Maybe you like to pay taxes, well I don’t!

So my reaction is simple: I bought plexes for about 4000 euro, well that will end as soon as the taxes go up. And if the situation deteriorates further, I can think of 14 other free space games that come into view.

At this rate, CCP will beat star citizen to it.

To CCP, cc CCP Falcon, CCP Hilmar…

Your interview was staged, yes the blackout interview. Just because you give out free skill points to get login numbers up for your “Apparent Company”. You laid a card and I call Bullsh*t… Your only lying to yourselves. Rasing taxes in null really? You don’t protect null we the people of the “Purple Donut” do. Concord doesn’t have purpose in Null… no faction has purpose in null… but you want to put taxes on player own structures in Null where you don’t have anything? Are you, talking to all of CCP, trying to ruin this game and have people stop playing? Due to current changes you have in 1 foul swoop managed to lose over 4,000 people across New Eden in 1 week. Just imagine if this garbage changes keep coming. Guess the next 3 months are going to find out if you rise again or fall like all the rest have! 1 change and its a downward spiral like a toilet bowl… Guess what, New Eden is already in a circle!
