Devblog: Updates to Sales Taxes & Brokers Fees

Taxes? How about some game play. Internet spaceship spinning economic simulator walking in stations blackout.

Taxation is theft.

Concord is completely ineffective at protecting us - I’ve seen innocent capsuleers murdered by Triglavians, while Concord sat useless nearby.

The people of New Eden should stop paying taxes entirely.

Concord just didn’t want any brave capsuleers to get salty about having their kills “stolen”.

aising the tax will do nothing.
Players do not buy PLEX for scrabble pears because it is cheap in the game.
If he wants to spend real money he wants to have a real skate.

It makes no sense to buy something if it is destroyed by those who buy PLEX for ISK.

As I have said many times, let CONCORS hire me to protect my property and there will be a motivation to expand it, if only for real money.

So, the problems with the game is the people running have so massively effed up in the past that some people have ludicrous amounts of isk just lying around. 2. Botting causing people to generate ludicrous amounts of isk/mimerals over and extended period of time.

CCP answer pummel all the people who are not currently rich, so they will not increase the number of people who are really rich. And wave at botters as they fly by.

No. The problems with the game are:

  1. People saying ‘the problems […] is’
  2. People beginning lists at (2).
  3. A large number of issues that involve the people making the decisions not actually understanding how things work.

I’m not a fan of having extra money taken out of me – it sucks, it happens, whatever – but at least call it like it is. If the purpose of this is to tweak the ISK sink knobs, say that. If it’s to push people to use player-owned vs NPC stations, say that. If it’s to put pressure on Alpha market bots, say that. If it’s something else, say that too. It’s oki. People will whine and complain now matter how you say it, so might as well just say it straight and keep going.

The only issue I take with it, as a wormholer, is that any blue loot income I might make will have a little bit more of a chunk taken out of when these changes go into effect, whereas anyone ratting in Hisec, Lowsec, or “Bluesec” won’t have their bounties touched at all. It also affects Trig red loot negatively as well.

Since K-space ratting is a significantly larger faucet than W-space ratting ever was, perhaps a knob should be tweaked for that, since other ratting income is to be impacted. Fair is fair.

Hopefully, we will see a change in Management soon!

Eve is supposed to be player-driven not let’s see what dev’s can pull out the hat to screw up what the foundation of the game was built on.

Eve its never going to have to the player base of fly by game that is very popular for a year are to then is dead to the world people just don’t want to make the commitment of a 20-year marriage. Hell, I think the average marriage is only 8 years here in the US.

I only have one account going now and I will not let it charge for the yearly sub fee again until things Settle down.

I think we’re just going to have to play it by ear and see what happens.

What I would love to see more Solo T2 ship events or 2 T1 Ship events.

Hell, this would be novel ideal see what is done the most in eve rat killing, pvping, missioning, whatever it may be and try that for a change. If 90% of people are PvPing do an event for them. If 90% are Solo Rat killing do something for them.

Give your customer base what they want. Not what you want.

Generally, this is a terrible idea. People usually want things that aren’t good for them or for the environment they’re working within.

Buyers will buy at prevailing rates like they always have. Sellers will sell at their personal best prices like they always have. Tax and broker fee hikes aren’t going to change this, we’ll all get used to it the way we got used to Alpha/Omega, PLEX and the routine availability of skill injectors.

It’s easier to raise taxes to irk moguls with dozens of alpha mining bots than to rework the entire mining system to discourage AFKness in general. Path of least resistance…maybe. Hurting Omega players…not really. Hurting genuine Alpha players…most likely.

Given High-Sec’s lack of representation on the on the CSM. It’s official - we now have taxation without representation.

Is there also a possible look at raising the 11% NPC Corp tax? 15% CCP - you know you want to.

Someone fell out of a plum tree

I did not get the point.
The devblog is hermetic. Is there a motivation for these changes ? What is the purpose?
They always say that they are changing something but rarely explain why. And then let us disscuss for …NOTHING. Nothing will change, the thread will transform itself in a neverending race for who will have the higher number of reply post.

Would it be possible to know “why” ?? To know, no to suppose.

And for all those people thinking to quit…well the good thing is that the moment Eve will close we will be buying the software for scrap.

If I didn’t give my customer what they were looking for my business would have shut down more the 15 years ago.

Is the purpose of these changes a secret? Why not explain? This lack of transparency is far more annoying than the actual changes!

That’s nice. And just what is your business? How far-reaching are the impacts of minor changes?

You can get all sorts of people who want lower taxes, and cheap power. They also want their bridges to not fall down. They want their military to keep working. They want the cops and fire department to provide top-notch service. They want their kids well-educated. They want clean water and air.

Can’t really get all of those things at the same time, though… because most of those take more money. But they don’t want to pay more money.

Similarly, it’s great to say ‘I want to eat as much as I want of whatever I want’. That doesn’t mean that’s good for you. It doesn’t mean that kind of consumption is good for the environment you’re operating within, either. CCP’s got to take a larger view than ‘I can do short-term gratification without an eye toward the bigger picture’. That kind of short-sighted catering to wants, rather than needs is a big part of what causes long-term problems.

This change does nothing to help your player base, the null change brought back some pvp. I have enjoyed it, but this as a gold sink? naw… Sounds more like a plex sink which for me also may work out in the end. I play for the lulz and tears so no biggie but maybe an issue for the industry folks. Either way, drive it like it’s stolen…

I play E:D as well as Eve. I don’t really think E:D is a substitute for Eve. The only thing they have in common is that they’re both “spaceship” games. It’s an enjoyable game in its own right, but they’re not really comparable in a way that would make E:D a replacement product for Eve, imo.

Eve has an extensive player economy, and things like currency faucets and sinks are pretty important to that. While I don’t think this is necessarily the ideal approach to take, it’s likely that the balance between faucets and sinks was, and still will be even after this, in need of some adjustment.

In E:D, I mined enough void opals in one weekend that I now have effectively infinite money and will never need to acquire more. It’s a fundamentally different experience.
