Devblog: Vexor Navy Issue and Alpha Clone Drone Skill Changes

@CCP_Falcon ANOTHER NERF TO ANOTHER GOOD SHIP! What is going on with you guys up there in the offices of CCP. Do you NOT get out and play the game before you nerf every ship your fan base is flying. At this rate, before long we’ll be flying boats equivalent to asteroids… but with less DPS

Plz tell me how a VNI is going to be a strong PvP brawling ship with 3 turret slots and a bandwidth to launch at max only 3 heavy drones. WoW commanding DPS you got there. NOT! A bonus to Armor Repairer… lol Now it’s official! If you want to kill all but a few Gallente Ships… fit “A” nuet and stay at range :stuck_out_tongue:

But on a real note, site runners and botters (RMT) will just switch to the NEW VNI it’s called the ISHTAR (which at one time was a strong PvP boat) but it too got the big NERF! :frowning: SO really what did you accomplish by this VNI NERF, other than being CCP.

RIP VNI, put on the do not use list!

Essentially translates into:

You still retain those paid for benefits. Just have to pay again for them to use em now.

I’m not sure is a good idea. For many time the VNI have take a place for his power with drones. If it lost 50 Drone Bandwidth, cannot use 5 heavy drones, and more those become weaker about damage. This will said all player have buy a VNI for ratting, have lost ISK for nothing, and more lost the principal identity of the Gallente strategy: the Drone Apply. For me is better if it keep the 125 Drone Bandwidth. And more, the armor resistence is useless in his case, because all Low Power Slots are use for encrease the Drone abilities … If you will change the Skills of ALPHA PLAYER is understandable , but change the VNI in a easy version of VEXOR without special conditions, can place the VNI a useless ship for his great price and not appeciable difference with the normal VEXOR. For the PVP application, i think the ships for that are very much between factionals and empires’ versions, Not necessary then, for me, transform the VNI in a PVP ship. In all cases, you know what do you do, i’m sure. Fly Safe all.

Not much reason to fly a Myrmidon, with or without the VNI: its drones had already been nerfed, and remember what a lovely shield tank it used to have before that also was nerfed?

Now that I think of it, the Thanatos’ drone bay was also nerfed to nothing a while back. Hmm, I’m seeing a pattern.

One of my goals was to try and make a perfect Alpha character. I’ve almost done it, including the Drone skills. This was over a year ago I think. To take those skills away now wouldn’t be right. Maybe let those Alpha characters who had those drone skills prior to today keep them as enabled. Any future Alphas disable them.

Or take away the skills and refund the skillpoints that Alphas can then inject into other skills.

FYI in my last post in “Local Comms Blackout” I finished with

" Kudos CCP, I’m going to hang around to see how this plays out! I hope for the best… NOW JUST STOP NERFING SHIPS SOOOO HARD… RIP… ISHTAR, CARRIERS, FAX, ORTHRUS etc…… (just a small few)

But you just can’t help it! Sad So Sad!

Ah, yes - the Ishkur. Another fine drone boat for its size… before its own nerf.

Just reminded myself of when I first bought Minecraft back in 2010 as Alpha build for $15. Included in that was that my account would receive all future updates to Minecraft Java Edition for free. When Notch sold to Microsoft he wanted to make sure that those who bought Minecraft early would still get the same benefit. To this day they’ve all kept their word and I still receive the latest version of Minecraft Java Edition for free.

Well stated- graying out what’s already been payed for should suppress future sales of Alpha daily skill injectors- I’ll never buy another.

I suppose I should just look at the free skill points periodically given as “equivalent” to a refund to keep my salt output below lethal levels … :grimacing:

kite VNI just got nastier, unfortunately at the expense of my go-to lowsec combat exploration ship. I will have to use an ishtar now to range tank those pesky recons always trying to jump me.
overall I think the change is fine.
and yes please similar bonuses on an ishkur would be awesome.

Not sure what I dislike more; Alpha accounts, skill trading, or botting. The way it used to work was better. If you don’t plex your account you can’t play. The way it works now, there is nothing stopping players from botting a dozen alpha accounts and sending all the isk to your main.

CCP backed itself into a corner with Alpha accounts and PLEX. Now people will kick and scream every time CCP tries to reign people in.

I support this change to the VNI.
Well done.

I really hope they give up sp back. I’ve only been playing for 2 weeks and now I just wasted an entire week training a skill that is now unusable. This makes me kinda sad since I enjoyed Tristan pvping and skilled up specifically for it…

On my how entitled game players have become!

as a 13yr vet that swapped to Alpha I have lost 98% of all my skills yet I can clearly see loads of people whining about how they are ‘shafted’ by this minor change…

Given that these are ALPHA clone skills… I.E. FREE then simply suck it up as you are still getting access to the game you enjoy FOR FREE, and if you read it fully you can still do similar DPS as before yet just have to put a bit more effort into playing actively etc…

These changes make the VNI much more versatile for varied types/style of play with little to no downsides apart from the afk player who quick frankly can go and burn in a wormhole as far as I’m concerned.

Good move CCP!

R.I.P. VNI. You were an awesome ship and fun to play. Gonna miss you. I’ll still keep you in the hangar out of respect.

Daily Alpha Injector sells for 20 plex in New Eden Store, and were also sold in promotional “starter packs” for various amounts. Think I bought some for ~$10 or so and used some to increase drone skills.

Reminds me of paying for snacks in a vending machine, but the package doesn’t fall. It’s not a huge sum of money lost, but I still feel like pounding the **** out of the cheating machine.

Yeah, Ishtar it is. The VNI was my C2 ratter of choice. With the self rep bonus and perfect drone skills it might still be OK. I think the market price will have to drop for it to be relevant.

Cash is easier now than ever to get in EvE… alpha inject is cheap…

Wouldn’t it be nice if the nature of anomalies changed first, with ship re-balance a result of that. When something’s as predictable as (insert your favorite loot farm), botting is easy. I’m sure many of us PVE-centric players would appreciate a more dynamic spawn system to deal with rather than the same ol’ same ol’ daily grinds, for years. The only thing that makes it interesting, especially in null right now, is the black-out :stuck_out_tongue:

Вот это уже хорошее обновление,направленное на борьбу с ботами. Еще бы гилу пофиксили. Ее тоже частенько используют в ботах.
