[Discussion] PLEX and Omega price changes feedback thread

Of course, one would expect a 33% increase. Of course, we are talking about an asset that can be prone to bubbles so don’t be surprised if it blows past 33$ then crashes like in much of the experimental literature on bubbles.

Then don’t. That is always a bad idea and in the end you are not “playing for free”.

Of course they should have. Aside from letting CCP continue to generate revenues to keep the company viable, it also really dampens RMT and even addresses in a small way the issue of the ISK distribution in game. Rich players buying PLEX for whatever reasons moves ISK from rich players to those who are ISK hungry but don’t have the time or inclination to make ISK in game.

These are often the very people I was describing above. They have poor ISK making options early on, PLEX lets them get ISK and not have to grind so much. Stop telling other people what is good for them.

Thats the root of it though isn’t it? Incomes have been nerfed so many times consecutively. If you dont farm triangle land or own an end to end industry infrastructure you’re ■■■■■■■ poor with little alternative. This just adds insult to injury. It’s blatantly exploitative, and ■■■■ them all for pulling it.

Feel the excellence and beauty

To some extent. But also some players just don’t like grinding for ISK, so they buy PLEX and sell it as they need ISK. As Brisc Rubal put it once on the Metashow when asked who he makes his ISk, “I have a job…” Basically he buys PLEX and sells them in game to get the ISK he needs.

But scarcity was stupid. Really, really stupid. When I first read about it on these forums I said it was stupid. It has been covered on the Metashow (multiple times) and everyone there said it was stupid. I have yet to see anyone who doesn’t have Hilmar’s hand up their bum to say “No, it’s actually GREAT!”

Good point. The biggest perk of Omega, is that with 2, you can dual-box.

One Omega account only brings one big thing to the table and that is cloaking. Useful for exploration, hunting explorers and small-volume space trucking, but not much else.

Mining and PI isn’t something you want to do on a single account anyway (or any amount of accounts for that matter).

Players will also lose some market opportunities I guess, but selling your space trash still works.

Single-account players with 20M+ can easily lapse to alpha state and still get pretty good combat performance (specialization level 3, hull level 4) out of any T1 ship up to pirate cruisers and faction battlecruisers). Also nice for them to switch to a clone with fewer implants.

The dual-boxers will be subsidizing this update, I fear.

Well, the faster training is pretty nice too…

Many of us already have more skillpoints than we need.

Strange reasoning.

When my 500g tub of butter went up this week by £1.00, I was not at all surprised to find that it both looked and tasted exactly as it did before the increase.

But perhaps you meant something else, Nyota.

Well - I’m already paid up until June 2023 - so I guess I’ll be here until then at any rate. After that though? No new content following this dramatic (and ambush-announced) price increase coupled with no new content to justify it? Magic 8-Ball says - “Don’t count on it”

It would be nice to be able to track which skill levels and skills we have used on a session or aggregate basis (daily/weekly etc) so we can decide what SP is stale.

Even a skill / skill level used heatmap.

It should be able to determine that from an activity log.

Unbenannt
Chart of the buying power of USD Look at it USD purchasing power went down in the last years so it sorta justifies the decision to higher the prices.
They will simply be earning the same PURCHASING power of money as a few years ago.

I’m a new player who just signed up for Omega, but with the price increase, I don’t know if it’s worth it. That’s a lot of money compared to many other games. It’s a good game, but nothing that special.

it was a good game years ago and now it is nerfed dogshit and soonish even 1/3 more expensive

You’re getting the toughest choice of all then.

Right now the sub cost is discounted to about 10 dollars per month (this does stack btw), but the future does look bleak right now.

This is the best reply so far. It shows the stupidity of chasing revenue with price hikes instead of fat trimming.

Such a pity…just as i was starting to enjoy this game…will just have to look for another one.

I dont want to stirr the ■■■■ up and stay constructive here but price changes during a time where everyone have to pay more is hardcore.

Lets have a look…If you raise it really to 20€ a month per account then you will loose many people totally and people with multiple accounts who still love this game after all that BS will cut down some accounts. So you wont actually make more money thus loose money in the process.
With all the other marketing things that came lika the skins and clothing packages with the “we will never sell skillpoints” - Skillpoints.

If you announce on the fanfest something like a kaskading system for the billing like: 1 Account 20€ , 2-4 Accounts 15€, 5-8 Accounts 10€ etc then you would get more from a guy that have one account and dont roll over your community with multiple accounts AND encourage people to have more accounts - so - More Money. Just from a monetary view spoken.

Hopefully you will make it like this…else would be a catastrophe for you guys and the game i love.
But lets see after fanfest.

Regards to all people here o7

When your 500g tub of butter went up this week by £1.00, what was the price before, and after? Next, was there a physical product involved that required freight transport and constant replacement? Were you told that you had to pay more because the dairy could no longer get money from Russian customers?
