Sure but it’s also an effortless task for 25 other players/accounts to do the same. Also, if the financial incentive wasn’t that good, they might not be (that) interested. We’re not talking trade hubs here.
The Tranquility datacenter’s in London. Has been for about 7 years now.
is there a way for us to see an exact number of lost subscriptions since CCP (I believe) is a publicly traded company shouldn’t their subscription information be public?
Yes, but how well will those 25 other players/accounts coordinate with another 2-300 alts to all simultaneously wardec the station? Especially if the defender can’t get assistance? The attacker doesn’t need ‘allies’, after all, they just all need to individually be able to shoot the defender. They don’t need to have any official in-game ‘yes, you are doing this together’ to just ‘happen’ to do it at the same time.
As for not talking trade hubs… yeah, eventually you are. Because the way you keep people from competing with your trade hub is by not letting them have the infrastructure they’d need. Why do you think anything big enough to online a market that gets anchored in Perimeter dies?
Heck, anything big enough to online a market within X jumps dies. How many jumps away do you think an indestructible asset would have to be before people don’t see it as potential competition? After all, the TTT sees Amarr as competition, and it’s 50 jump away now.
Not really? When the Q2 investor call for PA goes up, we’ll be able to see if CCP’s lost revenue, but that won’t show anything about the year-long subscriptions that have canceled without demanding refunds of the remaining time (which most people don’t do). You’ll really need to wait for Q3 2023 (when the Q2 #s come out) to see the results.
The changes to the subs and the raise in plex value are just OUTRAGIOUS!
THIS GAME WILL DIE! AND CCP IS THE ONE KILLING IT!
I usually sub at least 4 accounts, and no i dont plex them i pay them with cash!
To me this the line, 20 bucks per account, F**** that s**t.
And there is lots of ppl out there with more accounts than me.
I think its time for me to say after 14 years of play these words:
- F**** Eve and F*** CPP, 20 bucks for a sub, no other game out there is doing this.
And honestly even eve is a nice game IT IS NOT WORTH 20 BUCKS PER MONTH!
To me its just the end…i will use watt ever omega i still have on my accounts since i am a moron and pay 6month subs on all of then, after that…bye bye.
Pretty much had it with this company only giving advantages to the big sharks in game.
They made player structures suck arse and now they made even more suck arse.
Cmon a line has to be drawn, they are in it for the money and i get that, dev costs money but really
20 bucks, 2 years no real content added, and all the changes made very very few were actually nice.
Eve will die if this ■■■■ continues.
Players should raise up agains this outragious changes in prices.
The players out there paying with cash for theyre accounts shouboycot eve!
And show ccp that we are NOT cows to be milked!
A pissed off player!
So again another mistake at CCP moving them to London made them vulnerable to energy prices. Anyone on that island knows the price of energy on that island (gas/electricity) is expensive so they would have been better off leaving it alone or improving their speeds. Every country will eventually want faster internet not slower.
It wasn’t about internet speed. In fact, the big reason they moved the datacenter to London was personnel. Cost of living in Reykjavik is higher, and it’s not exactly easy to convince people to move to a godforsaken rock in the middle of the North Atlantic where their options if they decide ‘this isn’t for me’ are extremely limited.
“Respected Capsuleers”
Funny how I started feeling a little uneasy reading that, like the time when the CEO started off with “Dear Valued Employees” six months before she shut my place of employment down.
I found another job shortly after, so at least that worked out.
Moving on, rising costs are a fact of life and while EVE Online offers the Alpha option, someone still has to pay for those costs as well as the cost of future hardware upgrades.
The increase also goes towards development work required for future content expansions. Nerds don’t work for free after all.
If you want another way to look at it, take the roads and highways you use to go to work every morning (or public transit for all you green fiends). Over time, you’ll ultimately have to pay more for using that same thing over and over despite not giving you more back in return, but at least paying for it ensures it’s still there down the road.
Kind of like this MMO some of you have played for years and I’ve recently joined this year.
I don’t think they are public trade. Pearl Abyss developer is held buy a private held equity firm I think that bought CCP a while ago.
PA is publicly traded:
Here, you can look over their earnings announcements for the last few years:
welcome to the club my dude.
My brother, father and I have been playing together since 2006. We unsubbed 19 accounts between the 3 of us and are walking away from the game after 16 years of playing with no long breaks in the middle. and It’s not a matter of being unable to afford the price hike… merely a matter of principle. This game is not worth 20$ a month. And The company’s poor business sense leaves me with absolutely ZERO confidence in buying the larger subscription packets to get the 15$ per month price tag, because I have ZERO confidence that the game will be here in 1-2 years.
nobody would mind the price hike if the devs actually worked for their paycheck. zero development in 2 years to me says they’ve just been getting paid to jerk off for 2 years.
30% increase, you guys really don’t want people to sub anymore do you?
you must work for ccp for sure!
what a load of horse s**t…
nothing, no other game MMO style charges 20 bucks.
no1 will want to pay that for a game that DOES NOT DELIVER CONTENT!
2 years NOTHING! but Nothing of relevance, and they come up with ■■■■■■■■ about
cost of energy…yeah right…like every one is surfing on the “russia/ukraine” war to raise prices on everything…i do not believe that horsecrapp…they just want to rip of players that actually PAY for theyre accounts…
So I still be proud to have your stuff, if somebody will drop and want share.
What part of my highway and road example did you not read? The cost increase reads, in CCPs own words:
“To continue investing in EVE Online’s evolution and growth, and to realize our mission of EVE Forever”.
It’s not just about the new shinies, it’s about the old brass tacks too.
It’s not. CCP Paragon, during his Q&A, said the primary reason for the price increase is to offset the fact that Russian customers can’t pay right now.
In other words, he said the devblog’s a lie, he just didn’t realize he was telling us that.
Where are you getting this $20 from?
Buy up front, save tons of money over time. I paid for an annual subscription because paying month by month is dumb.
Yeah my concern is will it be the shell of a game. I can log in to The Division but walking around NYC it is a ghost town. Yes not the same as it’s not a Sub MMO but it’s an MMO that was good when it came out then eventually DLC after DLC and then it’s dead. Same will happen with EVE, you’ll log in and there will be nobody but those folks that have decided to waste money not seeing anything improve. There might still be a New Eden but it won’t have any ‘social’ aspect as most of the folks you’ll see will be only a multi-boxer who has cut his subs down, or those getting ‘free accounts’ from CCP. A system with 20 players in it will end up only being 2-3 people multi-boxing at best.
