That’s because the price changes are not yet in effect and there are people who have still paid their omega for a while. Being them, I wouldn’t spend that game time going on strike. but in my case it is very difficult for me to pay those $20 without content. I would pay what I have to pay to play, but it seems in bad taste to increase the price, without taking into account the opinion of CSM (what they should give represent US the players).
Let’s see how many player will be there after the price purge.
So, the CSM can simply down tools and say, no more CSM activity, to represent that backlash? We know that’s not going to happen and this is going to fade away as every other outrage moment.
that’s really true. most of the ppl playing eve will say: ‘This is BS, i’m out!’ but they will see theirs stations, their assets, and will play again. but what about the new players? they won’t get into the game on those prices. and those players are the future of this game. no matter how much money you spend on expansions or improving the newbie experience, MOST of the NEW PLAYERS WILL NOT PAY 20$ AT MONTH for a game.
You can’t just pick a random month and compare the sub counts unless you’re looking out over a year. People sub for various lengths of time. What you need to do is look at the downward trend of active players. Since there is data that includes previous summer months it should be easy to compare two summer periods and see a greater loss in subs due to the price increases (if they release actual sub count metrics, not sure if they do or not).
Don’t use the CPI as they keep changing the basket of commodities tracked, that metric is a fiddle as it’s not true inflation, and since the basket always is changed, you cannot historically compare it due to the changes, hence the fiddle! It’s economic obfuscation…
Going down at a relatively constant rate due to game age, aging player base, and other things of that nature is typically expected. You’ll be able to tell within the next year that it had a greater effect when the downward trend is greater.
well i would guess in 2 month you will see IF it has an effect on those who regular just want or can pay month for month… and for the new player how many will start even and will stay (what already was just a small part) and now even want to pay more.
and everyone else at latest in a bit more than a year you will see the truth… .the one way or the other. until than its just feeling and speculation anyway.
I will say that without the news from Fanfest, this price increase will negatively affect my decision to sub. I was subbing month to month and recently splurged on a 3 month sub and an additional 3 month sub/MCT deal so I am covered for a while with my main but I am no longer considering subbing my alt account. When the time comes to sub again I hope that there are positive changes that make me excited to play.
Same for me.
instead of paying for 3 Accounts(and at wars even more) one is good enought.
I would like to see more real player anyway, so maybe thats the plan, but i would doubt financially thats what they wantet … but fine
and if you dont feel like even paying one, just go alpha and give them what they want
Other companies have this automatic self-service, Linux gamers know this too well as they often choose to delete licenses either in protest at their anti-Linux stance or lack of support. Giving up paid licenses is not a difficult thing for Linux gamers even with Wine. It’s also not smart to leave accounts lying dorment around the internet, best option is to delete long term. Zombie accounts are ripe for takeovers and your identity/information along with it. Clean up loose ends and all that.
