[Discussion] PLEX and Omega price changes feedback thread

The basket is not always changed, it is updated periodically to reflect changes in consumption patterns. The CPI is actually pretty old. Do you really think basket should be the same as it was in 1921? No computers, no cell phones, no televisions, no radios, no stereos, no microwaves, no drip coffee makers, no refrigerators, etc.? You are literally propounding a conspiracy theory right here. Good going. :unamused:

Ask and thou shall receive…

Added via edit: 8.95% according to the world bank.

Frequency: Annual

Inflation as measured by the consumer price index reflects the annual percentage change in the cost to the average consumer of acquiring a basket of goods and services that may be fixed or changed at specified intervals, such as yearly. The Laspeyres formula is generally used.

Its a shame to watch something so beautiful so engaging wither away. As it strives to push profits over everything else. I have found myself not even bothering with these ā€œeventsā€ anymore. I find it it tedious to grind out 50 event anoms just to get 2 hour booster or other simple loot drop. maybe a decent reward if you grind out 150 of them.
they keep rebalancing so much because the plex is destroying the economy, so they have to keep resetting the resources to compensate. while all the while slowly moving towards game where you have to keep feeding it money to progress and keep there profits up…i mean 700 dollar plex packs!!! for a game? apparently games aren’t for kids anymore…am i the only one who goes to the new eden store and thinks am i in a tourist trap? 20 us dollars to change the paint on my (digital) ship… lol
after 18 years the closest thing to new content (thats not just temporary event things) they did was make the pochven but then they just took those systems from an existing area and closed it off to make it a gated community nothing actually new…just moved around and then they said Ta-da new content …what a joke. No new race selections…no new ships…you would think they would phase out unpopular ships and introduce new ones every few years…make new areas like dead space but without the timer of death. how about making stations like mass effect where u can run around and interact with others and shop at different stores…these are things people will pay more for. instead of the worlds motto for profit ā€œgive them less and charge them moreā€ like Doritos they lowered the chip count this time…wait 6 months to a year they will then raise the price on the smaller bag …pitiful

really people. remember the backlash over them selling fitted ships as part of a ā€œpackageā€ got us nowhere
remember threads with 10k responses and virtually no response?
CCP will do what they see as best despite thousands of player comments suggesting the vision is flawed. all we can hope for at this point is that they fix the damage done by the industry changes and find a way to advance true pvp. vague promises of ā€œcontentā€ mean nothing, actual content will mean something.
i feel sorry for the poor volunteers that have to read all these posts. ,clearly the CCP paid staff doesnt

There is no contradiction. Maybe English is not your first language. Updating the basket - i.e., removing some items and adding new ones - does occur. Because items do ā€œcome and goā€. How many bowler hats do you think men buy these days? Not many. How many cell phones do people buy…quite a few. So removing items people have stopped buying or are bought by only a small number and adding things people are now buying lots of is actually keeping the basket consistent with consumer behavior. Does it make for problems when making comparisons over sufficiently long periods of time? Yes, but that is true of just about all economic statistics that are gathered today. There are robust and arcane discussions in remote corners by some academics and researchers of what does GDP today mean compared to 50 or 60 years ago given that so much has shifted away from physical production of goods to services. Is a comparison of GDP today a valid comparison to GDP from 50 years ago?

And the point of the CPI is to provide an estimate of the cost of living. Ideally we would use a cost of living index, but those are unobservable so the next best thing is a price index which are typically seen as providing an upper bound to the COLI (although it may, in some instances understate the cost of living).

As a result people use it as a rough measure of ā€œinflationā€. Is it ideal? No. But then again if that is your criteria you are going to be waiting a long time.

I was referring to the fact that UK subscriptions, for example, went up two years ago. The CCP statement was worded with… exquisite… precision by focusing on the one month subscription in US$.

Personally, it does not affect me greatly as I have only ever had one Omega account and I will continue to subscribe for that. Where I do despair is, once again, the sheer ineptitude of their communications, rather than the underlying pricing decision per se. I am a communications professional, though not one in commercial employment, but their timing, messaging and sequencing are very poor, and part of a pattern of very poor communications.

The CPI is routinely used to adjust prices to put them on a like-for-like comparison by economists.

oh wait didnt eve just do something similar? oh yeah it took away some free skill points then later raised prices…the old dorito trick…now u have ā€œbuyā€ those extra skill points, need some plex? get yours at the store today and dont forget bulk discounts are available and please stop by the new eden store on your way out. we will remind you by highlighing your plex icon and keeping it showing in your tree so your always aware that there is plex to spend, plex to buy! lol
-if you guys don’t add more plex to the game how’s it get replaced when you take it out to send to ā€œplex for goodā€ or since u own the plex u simply just ā€œreuseā€ it in these situations and get paid twice on the same plex?

Feeping creaturism. Too many new game function points accruing over time until the time it takes a new player to settle in and consider themselves competent becomes excessive.

The KISS principle is dead.

For whatever reason, you just made me smell the coffee. Good grief. It’s nice outside.

I am a 2007 account that was largely built around Industry.
Tried 0.0, hated every moment of the abuse so I went back to Empire so I know that I’m going to get labeled a ā€˜carebear’ but I’m willing to bet there are more of me that have been driven off in the last few years than CCP has the courage to admit.

All of my friends that I had have moved onto other games but I stayed loyal to this game because I enjoyed it and it was fun for me.

I used to build Battleships and Cap Ship parts. Even with the long boring grind of mining, I still enjoyed myself and had built a small business out of it. Now I need pieces from every region including areas I currently cannot go by myself.
CCP took that away, didn’t offer a thing to help solo players.

I used to mine in an Orca with drones. I was not an AFK player who just walked away. I worked on production, PI, research, and interacted with the few people I knew left in the game.
CCP took that away.
I understand that the Orca is a command and control vehicle but there was no replacement offered for Orca Drivers who spent time skilling to be effective using the ship for mining. I don’t need the debate about the role of the Orca. My problem is CCP offered no alternative to an Orca once it was removed. It just a kindly screw you, AGAIN, to solo players who used it.

I used to make decent money with P4 parts from PI.
With the changes/increase to PI output, the P4 market has dipped hard and sales are down year to year.
Just another tweak that helps Corps and Alliances but is another pain point for solo players.

I decided to try out a corps, they’re good guys but this price increase…I’m done.
No major improvements to the game content. PVE is beyond stale, repetitive, and boring with poor payouts. The game is catered to the big block alliances and people running multiple subs (sounds like they’re all leaving too) and meanwhile solo players just get screwed repeatedly.

I’m not paying an increase to play with the remaining pieces of my playstyle.

The process of getting the CPI is designed and redesigned to not embarrass the government, if at all possible.

Ad Hominem is one of the lower forms of logical fallacies.

I guess bringing it up, though, is a form of it.

Looking at the price of the Rattlesnake sure confirms the supply side of the economy is having problems. Fewer makers, fewer things made, higher price.

They’re easing us into the stoneage by printing ā€œmoney.ā€

It doesn’t really need to be, because the majority of US Treasury debt is held by US investors. We’d be paying ourselves back, and with the interest and inflation rates over the last decade or so, we’ve been borrowing at an effective negative real interest rate.

It’s also probably unconstitutional, but nobody’s tried challenging it. The very idea that the United States can default on its debt calls into question the full faith and credit of the United States, which is something the 14th Amendment says Congress can’t do. So as soon as Congress fails to raise the limit, anyone voting against it has violated their oath of office and possibly faces other repercussions as well. It’s dumb, but it’s the kabuki we’ve got.

Now look at the build cost. Your price is well below cost beacuse lp farmers have been suplementing the market with bought hulls. You’re welcome btw, but this is still a symptom of the broken ass industry change implemented over a year ago. Moon goo, gas, pi, and low/null refinery ownership have no place in t1 or faction sub cap production. This price hike is the cherry on top of a ā– ā– ā– ā–  sundae made of years worth of ā– ā– ā– ā–  changes.
