Players have to be invested enough in eve to riot.
There comes a day where people stop trying to scream at you to fix your ■■■■ and simply walk away.
Based on what I’m seeing here, that day is here. Nobody is screaming hard. there aren’t any rage posts. people are voting with their feet. this is a day that CCP was -warned- would come, and they accelerated their pace to ensure it.
Do you really listen to your players? Your accountant says, hi, let’s turn away the poor people, they don’t deserve to play our game. We adjusted Omega and everything by 25%. When multiple accounts are running together, this cost becomes unacceptable.
So you make a big campaign rising money and donating to Ukraine, a month later, raise prices by stupid amount? The game is already predatory making it almost impossible to play with a single account, now your raising the price of the game and the in game currency used to pay for a month, I just setup a big campaign I was going to start on Saturday, but now I don’t think I’m subbing again, left the game two years ago for dumb changes that didn’t bring anything new and only removed things, and here we go again, stop being dumb, give worth to the game to then ask for more, instead of recycling same content year after year and calling it exciting because you changed the colors on a recycled skin you can get.
The only issue is, you are completely and utterly wrong, and your statements are false.
The price is fair for this game. Its an excellent game and if a person decides to spit their dummy and unsub all their accounts then that is proof they had come to undervalue what they had anyway.
I’ll grab some Omega now and see what content you release over the next few months…
Packs were optional- a good means to sink disposable income on a whim for a bit of a ‘boost’ or for exclusive items, but a hike in subscription fee makes spending more, far closer to compulsory. As others point out: This breaks the industry standard price for MMO subs.
You’re definitely focused on balancing existing stuff and making way too many cosmetic changes… but what about content? Actual, evolving story content, that is more accessible than the CRAB content?
You have fancy new SCOPE videos, complete with animated characters and CGI environments in which they interact, but will we see any of what’s featured?
Out-of-capsule interactions?
A reintroduction of a new, optimized Ambulation update of some sort?
Or perhaps, you’ll make the NeoCom bar even larger? Maybe add more red dots to things on the UI?
FFXIV, SWTOR, CoX, and WoW are all looking mighty tempting, right now… But we’ll see, like I said. I wonder what will be revealed at Fanfest, surrounding coming updates and content. See you there, CCP… I’m pretty sure the only people who’ll read this are other players, anyway.
Well, for one thing, EVE’s development costs aren’t in any way tied to freight transport costs (which is why oil’s price causes price increases through the physical supply chain). It’s not like they have to ship 1s and 0s from China via container ship.
Which is also why you’re not seeing this kind of move from any other MMOs right now.
CCP You finally brought Rorqual into it’s own, it has the totality of game play i’ve been looking for. You did some cool stuff with Black Ops too, really love the updates personally. These improvements prompted my return and re-sub after years of being away. I have been enjoying the game, was looking for the next 1 year Omega sale, then came the price increase.
For a moment I thought I saw some interest in building a better, longer lasting game. Clearly I was misled. This is a business, nothing more. I respect that and your desire to make as much money as possible.
This price increase would have me feeling the need to login daily to get my entertainment monies worth. I am no longer a 7 day a week gamer. I will try out Alpha clones for a while after subs expire and re-evaluate.
All the best to CCP and it’s endeavors. I do hope you will re-evaluate in the near future and consider other revenue income streams vs simply increasing your clients costs.
The servers are in the UK energy prices are through the roof 150% takes electricity to keep the servers lit. Part of the increase is for the severs but there are other ways and means of (generating) could not resist, revenue so the end user does not feel completely shafted. Alpha ACC $5 a month single training speed Omega Acc $15 a month double training speed lets call the next one Omicron(I’m funny I know xd) $25 a month triple training speed. and bring back Captains Quarters and make them bloody customizable, along with Alliance skins and all that other good stuff. Just takes a bit of work and some God Damn Intuition!
The maths works out, increase the price 33% and 25% of player base leaves your still in profit. As long as less than 33% don’t leave it’s more profitable.
Just means less new players in the long run. It’s a nice short term gain long term loss. Probably offsets the lack of players that just left prior due to IRL issues playing in certain countries
This is player/customer re-education. And the lesson is why EVE is worth more. Why it costs more. Why time spent in eve results in in game assets that are thus… worth more.
The players that are abandoning the game are just making a knee jerk move and they will be back when they realise there is hardly any difdffderence and the game still costs penuts.
I have to say - it is extremely brave to attach a forum thread to that news item and I did not expect this one bit. If the entirety of this thread doesn’t get pruned within 24 hours you may color me surprised.
Pearl Abyss wants their pound of flesh. This is what happens when you let a greedy, microtransaction-obsessed Korean company buy your game.
This is the final death knell. No new players are going to flood into a nearly twenty-year old game with no new content updates that requires a $20 USD monthly subscription, and demands players purchase in-game currency and ships (yes - that’s their plan - it’s only ‘postponed’).
Oh and let’s not forget about THE SKINS no one asked for. Pearl Abyss turned this game into sh*t.
CCP’s done nothing over the last 2 years to earn a 33% raise. They are not increasing the value of anything, only the cost. Maybe if they did increase the value, people wouldn’t see this as yet another naked cash-grab.
after destroying industry and making it only viable if you had multiple accounts or a lot of friends they woke up and undid some of the nonsense. in a future patch… but. we would pay more for those multiple accounts. sorry, not going to happen. those players are lost and wont be back, too much grind in the game to pay more for it now. doubling moon ore but lowering value means more time mining for same result… ESS DBS BRM reflected in down turn in income in the MER… serioustly. a price increase while simultaneously driving players out of the game makes no sense at atll.
CCP Swift, did you draw the short stick?
Anyways, right before the blackout, I had 3 omegas, and another 4 accounts that i was about to make them omegas. Then bad decisions started happening and I gave up the other 4, then slowly gave up the 3rd, the second. And now, after nerfing all my playstyles, all that made me login was my corp and alliance pings. Not your game, not your non existent content. 20 dollars for what? For a game that you ruined for the last years and every time there’s a fix addicted people praise you so you don’t f*ck it up more? Im not paying for this anymore, I just unsubbed my last omega, that was omega since 2014.
