[Discussion] PLEX and Omega price changes feedback thread

You don’t “need” two accounts, you just “want” two accounts. Fine, it now costs more. Pay the bill.

I don‘t want them and that’s why my Carriers are collecting dust. Don’t project your desires to others.

Pretty sure if I board a carrier I don’t get a message popup saying “you cannot fly this without two accounts”. Sounds like the only thing stopping you, is you.

Multiple account players are arguably the reason why Eve has lasted as long as it has. The entire games ecosystem relies on these players, CCP relies on these players and suggesting the game would be better without them is plain ignorant and borderline stupid.

What is borderline stupid is CCP getting dependent on multi-accounting in the first place. It signed their own demise.

Didn’t you just say you don’t “need” multiple accounts? Therefore by your own statement CCP hasn’t created an environment which relies on multiple accounts at all.

The players themselves have chosen the route to maximise efficiency by having multiple characters, this isn’t why the game is in decline at all. The reason it’s in decline is because it’s lacked any significant content to either retain or attract players for the past X number of years.

So you saying corporations and fleets of unique players has failed to the point people avoid it and field their own fleets of multiple accounts immitating a corporation or fleet.

So there’s only 11842 unique players (rough estimate) based on the average of 1.7 (really 2 accounts) per player (data cited by CCP apparently). So basically all numbers of online presented are to be divided by 2 for a more accurate number. That means player count wise, Eve is deader than expected.

What do you mean deader than expected? What’s the expected figure? If the player count is an indication of success then it’s clear Eve has been in decline for a number of years. You seem to think multiple account players are at least part of the problem unless I’m misunderstanding you, if so, I apologise. I disagree that they are an issue at all and if anything should be promoted more by CCP alongside making a greater effort to introduce meaninful and engaging content to attract new players as well as old.

Multiple accounts are part of the problem, it amplifies the effect of a player quitting. It means that player churn cannot be absorbed like other MMO’s can. Those other MMO’s don’t promote multi-accounting, they know it’s suicide.

Also players have a distaste of being ganked by one player fielding an armada of ships under one control. Ganking is not an issue per se, but that set up is, I would prefer to be ganked by fair play of a coordinated team, than one bully with 10 accounts.

Same applies to haulers, I would prefer not having a hauler fleet under one control, have it unique players. Same for any fleet function.

When I see 10 ships, I want to hope they’re 10 unique players, not 1.

Well, yes.
I mean… in a world where 12,95 or less is the standard seeing 15 or soon even 20 for a not really common game, is a biiig issue… imo…
and than they get told pretty quick (even via mail from CCP!) they need a 2nd or even more accounts is just insane…

So even if a new player agains all odds think after get thrown at the learning curve of eve its the right game…
even after swallowing the big price… and can still justify it for themselves…
THAN they get a mail that they need couple of alts to have fun…
in the end one of 100 is staying… for more than a few weeks…

Like I said CCP should focus on creating exciting and engaging content rather than removing it then. The issue isn’t the fact people have multiple accounts at all, the issue is those people are quitting for whatever reason.

what a new player get as reward after subbing for the first time

They don’t care what happens as long as it keeps bringing in money to fund their other desires. They’ve already accepted that Eve is in decline and it’s being pushed along for as long as possible. Basically it’s sniff out and follow the money on the ground.

It is CCP Games, not CCP Eve Online. How else do you expect them to fund other ventures if not by using capital from existing ventures?

To be clear I am absolutely against the subscription increase as it doesn’t represent value for money, I have purchased an extended subscription on the current rate because it’s the maximum I’d be willing to pay right now. If CCP start to do things right and bring in new fresh, exciting, engaging content then I might consider paying the increased cost when my subscription expires. However, CCP can use the money how they see fit, if they produce another game with it then so be it.

That’s fine, I was looking forward to playing World of Darkness. Where is it?

Why don’t you ask CCP?

I don’t have to, we know what happened.

Then why bring it up? Are you saying every venture should be a storming success? If so, you are a sweet summer child with some learning to do.

Well, not every one but, some or majority of them perhaps?

Which CCP product is a “storming success”?

Not at all. The success rate in any industry in small and I suspect the gaming industry is no different. CCP hit success with Eve because it is unique.
