"all in service of maintaining EVE’s status as the world’s best MMO"
Can you just give yourself that ‘status’ because you feel like it without it being even remotely true?
Well I guess the pub down the road from me has a sign outside that says it does the best Sunday dinners in the County. So does the pub in the next town and the pub in the next town …
well AU $ at the current exchange rate it is roughly $30 give or take per month, so once my current sub is over it will be to expensive for me and my son to continue - pity they didn’t learn from Netflix eh.
CCP made a string of poor financial decisions and are raising the price because they were financially irresponsible. They are now lying to us about the reason.
This entire argument is incredibly short-sighted. this game has over 10,000 solar systems in it (if you include J-space) at what point, over such a MASSIVE map, does player density become so low that the only thing -left- to do in it is PvE? and What is the point of this game if you only solo/PvE?
This problem is likely to cause a cascade failure. Subs are already down dramatically since Scarcity, and so many Nullsec guys quitting post-war. if 25% more of the players leave, who is everyone else going to shoot at? how quickly will those other 75% follow suit as the content (which is DIRECTLY correlated to activity) dries up even further?
I’m a Newbro, started a month ago. I have around 6 years of RL PR under my belt and never should you ever do something without an explanation if you have the ABILITY to explain first. Fanfest is not an excuse to say, look forward to the hike in price. Like it’s the price of eggs or milk. This is a game and you’ll lose more than you gain. Listen to the community on this. This is a player driven game, you’re driving them out of the game. Whoever executed this price-hike announcement should honestly be fired or disciplined. I hope to keep playing this game, I’ve lost about as much as I’ve gained in isk so far, but I want to keep playing because I enjoy the game. I love the explosions and PVE stuff, with PVP risk. I don’t see in any light the reason to kick the playerbase in their balls without reason. This is a total PR blunder/nightmare. Fly responsibly CCP. You owe your players a response now you’ve sent this out.
Ccp can’t even call eve online the best space mmo now, with a sudden for no reason increase in sub cost, Warframe just won you over in concurrent players and income.
So I am a returning player, I have been gone for 7 years. I was wondering what the deal with all the monetization was about, the constant drive to apparently increase a bottom line. There could be only one answer and I googled it. “did anyone buy CCP games?” then I got the sickening answer to that question and all the Pearl Abyss talk and the more money, more money attitude suddenly makes sense. hmm…
You also need to take into account, future losses, it will be harder to gain new subs due to the higher cost of entry. Long term this could take them over that 25% and cause an overall loss.
Boy oh boy I’m super excited for more trash!!! You want us to spend more money… Some of us with many accounts… and you are giving us nothing in return. The game hasn’t gained value. It has lost value since 2012 with you throwing good stuff in the trash.
Suspect mechanics
Wardec mechanics which are seriously bugged and you absolutely fail to address it
Fozzie Sov
Space Aids
I mean, sure, you throw nifty looking trinkets at us like the greatest joke from CCP, the Praxis, a completely useless ship. Some fancy paint jobs… that garbage doesn’t increase value. It simply exists within this rolling dumpster fire.
You can expect I will not be resubbing my accounts. I’ve been needing a reason to try something new. Maybe Star Citizen? (open to suggestions from our rapidly departing player base)
CCP, you guys have turned out to be absolute clowns, Your devs are a joke. You literally devalue the game with your ■■■■■■■■, and now you toss us this nifty price hike. You dummies are gonna need to charge more what with all that money you are going to be losing by the exodus you just started. Cheers!
I’ve been playing Eve since 2014. I just founded an alliance less then 6 months ago. I have an amazing group of people playing with me with good hearts. Some of my people are very poor in the real world. My guys have scrounged and pulled together. They sent equipment to our struggling pilots in the real world to get them in the game again. We are a family and my hard rule of real life 1st has reduced stresses on them all…
Now I have to deal with this. I have to figure out how to motivate my people to stay subbed and playing as the population falls dramatically and the prices rise. How do you expect me to do this? I refuse to lie to them. Players who plex to play will now be able to do little else. Players who pay subs, will likely reduce down to 1 account, or quit entirely. From this thread, we have already lost a number of pilots even if you back off the price increase. Our small Eve community can’t afford to lose players like this!!
When you all made this decision, you had to know there would be backlash. Whoever did your cost/benefit analysis must have assumed that the 30+% increase would offset the accounts lost. You had to know a huge chuck of money comes from a group of players who sub 10 or more accounts at once. 30% increases on 10+ accounts is no small thing. Its a hell of a gamble to raise prices when you already have significant losses in player base. Combined with the debacle of the economy reset, I am left wondering if you are intentionally trying to kill this game.
I’m trying not to angry type. I try to stay motivated and positive as an example for my players and our community. But your recent decisions are making my life hard. You all need to back peddle fast as hell, and throw out a sincere apology. Blame BOB if you have to. But you guys just ripped open an artery and our game is bleeding. Fix it.
But as a business, They need to weigh up the pros and cons.
They have XX subs at present, what percentage of those are willing to pay a higher sub value irrespective of how much they earn. That is the number they are now about to find out.
That could come as quite a shock to them.
It has and always will be a challenge for subscription based games to adjust that subscription.
I don’t believe CCP are in a good enough position with the game to justify a price hike of that value. And I believe that is the take many have.
Now how do you attract new players? This game already has the steepest learning curve of any game on the market, quite possibly the highest turn over of new players too.
Now add to that an even higher buy in price and it’s frankly a ridiculous notion for new player retention.
If 13 year + veterans of the game are struggling to justify paying this with that time investment they should be absolutely terrified of the future with these new prices.
they take away the ore, they make things to expensive to build, now they make stations go boom really fast, they make stations to expensive for really small corps to afford, etc etc they just keep taking and taking imho
now they want more for NOTHING
daaaaaa
I’d believe you if you had data…but you don’t…those are just assertions.
The reality is that at the end of the day CCP is not in control of finances anymore, PA is. If a game is seen to need to be more profitable, that order is most likely coming from the powers that be.
Well i am sure all the white knights just blameing others “its just 5$ more dont cry”. well. ask your boss to give you 30% less salary for the same work and be happy… i am sure you would.
30% more for nothing in return after makeing Eve worse for the last years ?
Paying to get maaaaaaaaybe back to where it was years ago before?
Guess if you screw up your job you dont pay the loss but let the coustumer pay extra?
CCP should go into Politics… yeah thats how it should work.
Like letting me pay a Tesla for the honor of driving a bicycle… while you promise me to give me a Tesla… maybe … some day…
thats exactly how i can accept and appreciate it…
not
Oh wow I heard about this on reddit but I didn’t think it was real. I’m guessing this is just punishment because the players won’t accept NFTs? I actually just started playing a week ago and now I know I won’t be sticking around as anything other than Alpha if at all. I’m glad this happened just as I was about to get started though. That way I won’t have anything invested when I walk away.
