Doctor Who event

I am totally down with this idea!
I love bright colors, and while I’m not onboard with the political agenda the rainbow represents, I love it in a purely artistic sense.

Dr Who long since ceased to be sci-fi and became a wise-cracking comedy show. I got tired of the wisecracks literally every 10 seconds. It might have worked for Han Solo a few times in Star Wars, but it just got irritating in Dr Who. That level of jokes and puns means they no longer take their own ‘sci-fi’ show seriously.

Alas…the level of wisecracking has extended even into Lost In Space, Star Trek - Discovery, The Witcher, yada, yada…as if ’ we don’t do scary any more ’ has become the norm and someone has to be doing a joke every 10 seconds to placate the snowflakes.

At this rate, by the time they do finally release Half Life 3 we’ll be battling Teletubbies and My Little Pony and the end boss will be Mr Bean.

Can we get Hello Kitty New Eden Invasion Chapter for Valentines Day, please, please? Pretty please CCP?

strong text

Want a coherent argument on why that thing is a gross waste of CCP ho so limited resources?

How many pirate or T2 ships still have a pretty lame recolor version of a T1 ship?
They couldn’t be bother to even do a recolor for the new T2 salvage drone models to make them look a little bit unique.
How many NPC rats roll around with model of ships they clearly don’t use instead of some random NPC ship model they should have?

Hell, as much as I despise that mandatory china pandering marysue faction they added to the mobile version of the game, they could have added that ingame if respecting their own lore isn’t really a concern anymore, that would have at least added stuff to fly.

Overall Eve suffers from a great lack of 3D model diversity, and an astonishingly slow number of new release when it comes to new ship.

Why are the pirate factions still missing destroyers and battlecruisers?

So why, when theres so many core parts of the game in need of new 3D models and ships, resources are wasted on a god damn dalek saucer?

Because it’s a cross promotional event that could bring new player?
Did you even paid attention to the current state of the show? It has been thoroughly run to the ground by terrible preachy woke writing and as the worst rating and viewer numbers it ever had.

You know what actually bring new players in? Big announcement of big content.
You know what bring back old players? New sh!t in the game that makes it look like someone is working on it rather than having it be on life support.

I don’t even know how you could spew sh!t like “it’s temporary and optional bruh, if u dun lik it dun du it” and not realize how that’s PRECISELY the problem.
Why are resources wasted in a temporary gimmick when the game could make way, WAY better use of the resources to actually ADD SHlT IN THE GAME.

Want to work on a stupid side activity gimmick? Bring walking in station back, that’s probably going to bring more new player in than a stupid limited even, how the hell is having a simple third person vchat such an SURMOUNTABLE effort for CCP?
Eve is a social game, and thos games needs social space and side activities to keep their social player engaged, just look at FF14 and how having a simple stupid casino, some housing and places for people to afk dance made them garner and KEEP such a large player base?
Having a social space where you could roll around with your avatar and waste time on stuff like playing texas holdem for some credits would do more for the game than any tacky cross promo events.

Where the hell is Dust? Remember Dust? Want to reach new players and increase the scope of the game? A god damn FPS is also a great way to do it.

And that’s just one of the many, MANY things the game could spend its resources in.

So yeah, no, the game is not even remotely close to be in a state where it has the luxury to spend some resources on “temporary and optional” crossover with some dead franchise.

Not to be an annoying topic ganker, but I though Yan Jung was an existing faction in Eve Online way before they forked Echoes?

Yes, they were one of the ancient factions, that appeared in the background of the cosmos missions in Gallente space. They were always Chinese-themed, right from their introduction.

“The Yan Jung nation immigrated into our world through the EVE Gate eons ago. From where, we do not know, though the fragments of texts we’ve managed to translate talk about a mysterious middle kingdom. They settled here in Deltole, though we suspect they also colonized other systems, even in far off places. But what we’ve uncovered so far is here in the Deltole system, especially on Deltole V and VI, which seem to have been much more inhabitable back then.”

Nah, it’s not. It’s actually so bad as a show and so antithetic to what Startrek is supposed to be about I’m honestly astonished anyone could use “good story” and Discovery in the same sentence with a straight face.

So the Sphere Data, it’s origin, and the fact it’s melding with Discovery and evolving isn’t a proper sci-fi story?

The spore drive?

The fact they jumped 800 years into the future?

Ofc they were.
Just remind me when they suddenly got top tier ships of very special tech and when they suddenly became so special and important?

Cmon, everyone knows that’s how the chinese market works, they want their marysue pandering, I know it, you know it, everyone knows it. Echoes is a Netease game that was mainly created for the juicy chinese market after all, and the fact that CCP somehow “forgot” to port their brand new ships into the base Eve speaks VOLUME on what’s going on here.

I liked the plot of Discovery, though it had some huge discontinuity errors…like how for most of it the ‘red angel’ is Michael’s mother, yet they completely forget that later and make the red angel Michael, which ruins all the prior plot.

What I really don’t like ( I don’t even mind the increasing PC-ness ) is the increasing tendency for wisecracking in shows. Practically every sci-fi show now has that. Star Trek - Enterprise was good because the characters seemed real…and were not cracking jokes every 5 minutes. Dr Who became the worst culprit for this. It’s as if they are embarrassed about presenting a scary plot to the snowflakes and have to lighten it up every few minutes with puns and jokes. Star Trek has followed suit.

Imagine having such scant regard for the integrity of your own IP.

Also is this where they got the idea from? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Eve Who - Home

I agree with your entire post.
About the resource allocation though, I don’t think the entire ccp team is occupied with the event. With the little business experience I have, I reckon there’s a small team of people responsible for those limited ‘fun’ events. So there’s no real loss of resource per say. I hope most of the rest of ccp is hard at work with something big.
And don’t get me wrong, the team responsible for the events could work on FW or something more substantial but judging by the recent updates (or lack of), it looks like we would be beating a dead horse. Again.

Except that when Michael goes and does all the prior red angel incidents before jumping 800 years into the future…including somehow miraculously rescuing herself…they completely forget that originally the red angel had been revealed to be Michael’s mother. Not even the temporal police can sort that one out. I guess the audience were just not supposed to notice

Michael is a chick?

Indeed. But its 2300 or something. Heck…there are historical rl men called Vivian or Clare ( yes, Clare can be a man’s name ), so I don’t have a problem with the flexibility.

I’m sorry, I must have been thinking of Michelle Obama.

Oh sure, I wasn’t saying that the event itself was taking all the resources (at least I sure hope that’s not the case), but as I’ve extensively listed, what “the rest of the team” is doing is… nothing?
When was the last time they released a ship? How many ships do they release each year?
When was the last time they added PVE content? New quest? New Epic Arc?
When was the last time they added new side activities? How is it possible that I’ve had more fun doing exploration in StarSector, a 2D game made by 1 guy and half than in Eve where most of the “fun” is dodging thirsty gankers?
When was the last time faction warfare got new stuff?

Evey new big patch now look like this: "here’s a handful of ship updates that could have been done in 2 weeks by a single guy, and here’s a new random niche thing (if we are lucky) like a new deployable.

That’s just not enough.

I’ll be honest, for a company of this size, the output of actual content CCP release always seemed awfully low.

I think my last line sums it up pretty well “the game is not even remotely close to be in a state where it has the luxury to spend some resources on “temporary and optional” crossover with some dead franchise.”
I’ll take pirate battlecruiser or destroyer (ESPECIALLY if SoE) any day of the week over a “for funzy” Dalek ship.

This is honestly rubbish but if we are going down the fortnite route, when are we getting the walking dead crossover
