Easily Linkup Pilots via Activities (que for group play)

For the Activities (depending on what it is) would be nice to have a button along the lines “Que for Fleet” so like minded players running the same theatre can easily pair up together. The game would link these players into a dedicated fleet channel generated by the game for that “adventure”. It would also give a window for pilots to meet others with similar interests.

I think this would be good for all players especially the rookies. Personally, thanks to this game graciously granting me paranoia over the years, I don’t typically go into channels asking assistance, and the players I once knew no longer play or uninstalled their lives from the Earth.

I know people will argue “just join a public fleet” or “ask chat” or “join a corp” or whatever. I’m suggesting something convenient and nice for lonewolves too that don’t want to get involved with corps or hassle with chats.

As you point out the mechanics for this already exist.

Public fleets, public chat channels, local. So you are just asking for automation to help your laziness. I don’t think FC is likely to pander to this.

Also what’s to stop the type of people you are paranoid about from using the automation and then doing whatever it is you fear to you in the new automatic fleet?

At least with player made fleets/channels and corps there is a permanent reputation to be maintained, automatic public fleets would have nothing to prevent them filling up with people with nefarious intent.

Your biggest issue is you are trying to be a lone wolf in a game made for prides of lion. Go find a corp, there’s hundreds available.

Easy automatic grouping seems like a nice idea.

In a cooperative game.

Even in cooperative games I dislike it, people were much more social and patient with others back when I played World of Warcraft when dungeon finder did not exist yet. Fun groups, because it took effort to find others.

After their automatic group finder was introduced my number of groups went up and so did the frequency of bad interactions as people could behave antisocial and just leave to automatically get assigned a new group at the slightest inconvenience.

The convenience introduced a rather shitty experience. But that’s years back, I have no idea how that is now.

Back to EVE.

EVE is not a cooperative game. It is a competitive game with cooperation based on trust.

The only thing I trust some randomly assigned fleet members to do is for them to find some creative way to yeet me into Pochven, LS or NS or get an engagement timer otherwise and destroy my ship for easy loot.

In EVE if you want fleet members you can trust you need to put in some effort. Join a corporation or join or create an established NPSI fleet that is already built on trust.

Without trust a fleet won’t work.

And with automated fleets you won’t have trust.
