ECM is dead. Sell now

In the new pass jamner wont jam what its targetting (ie jamming).

What exactly is being missed here?

The ONLY target with lock will be jamming target.

RIP turn up the jammers

I went and looked at the Rook on Zkill and imo it is not realty used much as a solo boat, it is what I would call very niche.

Using a Falcon alt is not solo PvP, it is your get out of a losing fight card, you will have to be a bit more careful using it, that is all.

In small gang fights a Falcon will have to be flown more carefully which you should have already been doing ever since the last few nerf’s to ECM. Without any doubt the Griffin and Navy Griffin will need range adjustments and increased tank, like the other ships.

However what has really happened is that people will have to be more focussed on using the ECM ship in terms of range, alignment and how much damage they are taking, to warp out and come back in. and I think that is a good thing, in effect it is what is happening now anyway.

I think that this is good news for carriers because that was really quite annoying to be dead in the water in terms of being dropped on, I have to drive off the ECM before being able to apply damage to DPS so people will have to fly the ECM boats with more skill and appreciation of getting in and out of the combat. Stop moaning and adjust, you are good enough.

As for indy’s using it to get away, it is un-bonused so it is a last resort trick.

PS I have two max skill ECM characters and have used Falcons to a certain degree, though I prefer multi-boxing a bait and a hammer, not a get out of jail card.

@Lucas_Kell welcome back.

And everyone else in their fleet, yes?

I get how it can still be used by a fleet, its just a tool thats been taken away from anyone else.

But yeah, I get it “stop being solo”

Think of it as reverse ECM, jammed target has lock only on jammer. There won’t be point of jamming multiple targets apart from logi ships. So it works like tank in WoW that taunts enemies to hit him.

Yes there is a reason to jam multiple ships, you are taking multiple sets of damage off of one of your fleet mates.

But wont that just mean ECM ships are even more likely to get insta alphad by the enemy group?

Well… Will that work if all they change is the condition that you can be shot while jamming by the target?

Especially freighters and mining barges

that’s why they need tank boost, and that’s why I think it is bad idea in general.

ah yes, in case of focus fire which is always, they will have to kill ecm first.

Yes, people will perhaps adjust their comp for that role, but that means the ECM pilot will have to be a lot more active, no more easy mode Falcon alt.

It affects the flow of the combat, it will have an impact, you have to get the timing right. It does make the ECM boats worth less, but they still have a value.

They needed that tank boost anyway…

Which actually happens now anyway, at this point people throw drones on them to drive them off We tend to drive ECM off or kill it as soon as we can.

If in return we get better tank and less of this chance based muck I think it is a good trade.

Which makes ecm boats fun but very niche hulls. Niche hulls in EvE means useless. This is replacing bad mechanism with not so much useful mechanism. Why not use damps instead?

I think ECM is pretty niche anyway, we go after carriers we jam the fighters, the ECM pilots will have to warp out a lot and it will make it highly skilled and valuable.

I still dont see how this changes it in the way the CSM claim.

The randomness seems to still be there, as are having to hope you have enough points, but now you cant use it defensively.

And I gave literally no idea what they mean when they say “it makes it 1 v 1”. Looks tge oppisite to me. (Not that I think it should be . I work hard to make it any number vs none by getting out of there)

The notes say its because it reduces helplessness. They going to nerf neuts next then?

Judging from the salt and tears sky has fallen. Carriers will have to be crossed ecmed, one for carrier second for fighters I presume.

That needs to be changed and the tanks too.

I don’t tend to use a Falcon alt as a backup to my main as my first choice, most of my multi-boxing was bait ship and hammer. I do believe that you can still do it, but you have a reduced target selection and you have more risk to your Falcon, but it is still doable.

Well no, because if you use lasars or cap hungry weapons having a cap booster makes good sense.

It will make it a bit harder, but very doable, I am not worried at all.

last time I was drained I fell pretty helplessly do I have to carry cap boosters all the time (was in stratios)? Should people doing pvp carry sensor boosters too? It’s weak argument for changing ecm the way they did.

So why not ECCM?

Or FoF missiles?

And sorry if Im being slow but Im not following your example of Falcon alt in my confusion about why the CSM thinks this change encourages 1 v 1 fights.
