He said he is not “angry”, he is (completely “calm” and) “excited

EVE’s elites have a lot in common with a toddler being the first in the class to stick two Lego blocks together.
A great feat in the bubble of MMO players that pat themselves on the back for making an accomplishment in a space game from a genre that is designed for the lowest common denominator of the gaming public. Where the most simplistic of tasks are rewarded to keep these simpletons thinking they are space heroes and continue paying their subs.
This is why MMOs have large player bases compared to games that require skill.
I came to EVE from WW2 combat flight simulators. A genre where your average EVE player couldn’t fire up his plane’s engine, let alone get the thing off the ground.
So saying EVE has elite PVP is a low bar indeed when you look at the big gaming picture. Elite for EVE. Just like little Bobby is the elite kid in his Nursery School class for mastering those two Lego bricks.
Mr Epeen
@Uriel_the_Flame It is nothing to laugh at, sir. The few posts I read, he seems very angry and uses a lot of profanities. In my personal experience, men who swear a lot are unstable, unreliable and can become very violent, hurt others and themselves. Usually they have gone through a lot of trauma in their lives, have great difficulties to relate to others and are often alienated, which does not help their condition at all and actually aggravate their mental state.
Men like him can be very dangerous to those around them. I hope he is getting the help he needs. I do not think it’s funny at all.
That’s right, he even expressed anger and the potential to physically assault others on several occasions:

If I have a drink with that hypocritical knucklehead I won’t be able to answer for my actions, I mean all out no holds barred.

It’s like when we were kids and that snotty one wins but can’t shut the Fck up about it. He would feel the back of my hand before his stupid grin left his face.
And he has high blood pressure on top of it? I certainly would not want to be around him when he explodes.
That said, I am very uncomfortable writing about someone who may be hurting and comes on this forum to share his feelings and his likes and wants. It just reminded me of a very bad time in my recent past.
@YHWH_Is_Lord I am not piling on you so please don’t take it the wrong way. I hope you feel fine, I wish you well and I apologize if I caused you any discomfort or grief with my words. I mean well.
But…and its become almost a forum feature that I have to keep saying this…Mr Epeen has zero killboard and zero evidence you’ve actually done any PvP in Eve. Is there an Epeen alt with 10,000 solo kills ?
As for combat simulators, my very first was in 1976 when I applied to join the RAF. They actually had a quite sophisticated ( for the time ) simulator. This was several years before anyone was playing simulators in the pub. Out of 50 candidates, only 2 were selected…and the two successful ones went off to fight the Falklands war whilst I got a job in computing and actually helped write a few combat games.
I don’t think you actually know what a flight sim is.
Get back to me when you’ve read up on the topic.
Mr Epeen
You proved his point.
Ah…that would explain how I’ve manually flown a Jumbo jet from Gatwick to Phoenix on Microsoft Flight Simulator. Actually, I think some features of Flight X are actually better, and I loved the Alaska Wilderness mod on the original Microsoft Flight that Microsoft abandoned after everyone had paid good money for a nice Mustang.
Mumbles something about sucking eggs…
All Epeen has proven is that most of the people who decry elite PvP in Eve have never done any PvP in Eve. Its become almost a standing joke, and is time and again so utterly predictable. You can pretty much predict that anyone decrying PvP in Eve has zero evidence of ever having undocked.
I know arguing with Gloria is punching down and I shouldn’t be doing it, but it’s like waving a laser dot in front of a kitten. I just can’t help myself.
Mr Epeen
I don’t care about your 0.001 DPS forum laser. I doubt there’s any chance of encountering anything with more ooomph in the game itself )
Just because you say that “there’s no evidence” doesn’t mean much. This alt doesn’t have a KB. So, by your standards, I haven’t engaged in PvP.
I doubt I’m the “exception”.
Also, there are “experts” in virtually ever field (and sport) that haven’t actively engaged in said activities.
Are we to conclude that their credentials are without merit?
The Lord said, “You pity the plant, for which you did not labor, nor did you make it grow, which came into being in a night and perished in a night. And should not I pity Nineveh, that great city, in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know their right hand from their left, and also much cattle?”
What a surprise ! I mean…just how utterly unusual is that.
But, surely, you will at least concede that there are EVE players who are better than those around them at what they do? In every human activity there are people who excel, decisively, clearly. They stand out from the rest, by common consent.
You may disparage the skills on show in this video game (or, which seems to be your current concern, the people displaying them), but yours is only one view, and a particularly jaundiced and cynical one of late, Mr Epeen. Wassup?
‘Elite’ describes a state in comparison with other, lesser, states. The word has unfortunate connotations in the real world - I get that - but here in the cosy, coddled environment of EVE Online, it has its place, and will continue to be used by and about players of all kinds. You don’t have to be one of them!
The answers you are seeking can be found in the part of that post that you didn’t quote.
Mr Epeen
These are not the quotes you’re looking for.
No, Mr Epeen, they cannot. The remainder of the post is properly designed to expand upon and support the view expressed at the start (and in other, recent, comments you have made). You are nothing, if not tidy.
I am not ‘seeking answers’. I sought clarity; and when I found it, I managed to dismiss much of what you wrote as irrelevant. If you do not accept the notion of ‘Elitism’ in a video game, then say so, and have done with it, man! To you, your view, to me, mine.
On the other hand, the idea of ‘elite mining’ does make me lean somewhat in your direction…
That’s a “you” problem. Find an ESL teacher or a therapist. I cannot help you.
