Encounter Surveillance System Update

And again some arrogant … whoever… is labeling concerned players as botters.

just… wow.

so now we have to cloaky camp our own systems to guard the ESS? can blues and light blues steal the isk? Is this just a ploy for pvp types to gain isk to pay for their ships since mining alts and ratting toons are making less isk now? Somehow it seems that a handful of pvp pilots need more help to be successful. I thought my pvp was for fun and excitement but not the only reason i play (note, this is clearly not my pvp character before anyone checks my zkill) also, does the ESS pay a bonus like before, or just give back what it took? and the lack of LP sucks too.,

  • botters trying to paint a picture of concerned players

And about the second part I agree, just wow, such a broken mechanic that has hurt EVE Online more than anything else in it’s long history. Botting, RMT, rental empires, intel bots, super umbrellas, the major issues with the game have all been caused by terrible, badly planned and borken nullsec anomaly ratting. It’s the cancer that has been festering for ever, untreated- now that CCP finally sees what it does to the economy, we need to be thankful. This change is not really enough to change anything, but at least it’s a step in the right direction.

Unless you are a botter, that is.

It seems in past year CCP is doing everything to convert earning process into annyoing side of gameplay and push people into “just buy plex, sell it and get yourself some isk… safe, no grinding needed, nobody will steal it, just add your MasterCard/Visa number in that nice field on your account page…”

This change, along with DBS introduction, will generate more botting, since more players will try to avoid manual grinding for smaller reward.

Can someone explain the value of living in null anymore?

I simply don’t see any anymore. Null is literally the dullest place to be. The anoms and DED sites a still the same boring rubbish for years.

Theres no real NPC activity like HS was getting with Trigs.

I am actually thinking this game gets more dull and boring year by year…

SOV null, where daring adventurers go to carve out their own piece of territory by force…

… or rent it and then complain on the forums that non-consential pvp in your system is unacceptable!

upcomming change does not affect botting if there is some player protection, even even worse: new bot who will loot ESS as soon as a neut appears in system.

upcomming change has nothing to do with RMT.

This is a result of null geography itself, say “thank you” to CCP.

yes, bad.

Players themselves actively participated in a created organisation structure - much more than i can say about at least 75% of entire playerbase.

The list of options to somehow adress this was stretching far beyond the horizon, yes still CCP thinking that they are smarter than the rest of the planet.

People were screaming their lungs out about it years ago, once again: CCP thinking…

No, this change simply hurts smaller groups more than larger groups since larger groups can protect themselves somewhat better. Oh, and this change does not affect bottig whatsoever, but affects actual players.

I think it will actually stimulate RMT since ISK price will go up as result of these actions.

Old EVE
pve player rats for isk
indy player mines and builds
loki pilot comes in and shoots pve pilot or miner (depending on pvp effort)
New EVE
pve ratter earns less for effort
indy pilot cannot mine materials to build anything
loki pilot has additional choice of targets in the ESS

What part of this new EVE makes the game more attractive to most players?

Well i meant “it doesnt directly hurt bots”, yeah, their stuff can still be stolen but nothing prevents them from 24/7 grind and they can even create bots who will auto-loot ESS vOv

epiphany
ESS takes isk away from Ratter.
DBS takes isk away from Ratter if too much ratthing
DBS percent goes back up if PVP occurs
ESS draws PVP
apparently CCP does have a plan Why didnt we see this before?

The new ESS will have a unique set of on-grid rules to encourage good fights and avoid troll-like tactics:

  • Warping is disabled
  • MJDs are disabled
  • MWDs are disabled
  • Cloaking is disabled
  • No cynos may be lit
  • No filaments may be activated

So much for the sandbox. Whether you support this change or not, the fact is there are more and more game mechanics where basic game functionality is being forced upon the players, whether they like it or not.

But not to worry, I am sure the gaming community will adapt and find the most efficient way to deal with this forced change, which will shortly be followed by an ‘exploitation notice’ or a nerf.

nothing like a bundle of complex code to keep EVE running smoothly (insert likelihood of lag here) and add enjoyment to the game. I would be happier if their time was spent fixing tedious nonsense like PI interaction. at least there would be an obvious benefit from that.

It’s the choice of CCP how they design their game, but its my choice to spend money or not. I was ready to buy the 12-month membership with the actual offer. Now I’m buying only 3 and just started over to play Star Citizen again. At the moment I play it beside Eve. I’ll have a look on the changes when they are live and then I decide.
Reasons why I really don’t like the Bounty updates.

  1. I play for fun. I get fun when I’n successful most of the times. You nerfed not only the game, you nerfed my fun.
  2. I’m member of o small nullsec corp which play in the “nonmain” time of the Alliance. So we have no umbrella but many neuts. I think I’ll never get the ESS money. We are not strong enough to defend the roaming neuts.
  3. I invested a lot in Mining and Ratting (real money and time). Now these investments are nerfed.
  4. I will perhaps quit Mining and Ratting. Production is nothing for me…so there is nothing left

Yes, I have to agree. We all (or at least some of us) have other things to do outside of EvE and krab to make enough ISK to fund the fleet losses. Now that’s going to be painfully slow and deeply dull, and way less lucrative.

Overall result? Less ISK, less dosh for PvP for me.

Well done CCP, I think my third account just died. I’ve no need for those pilots now.

A big fat BINGO there.
CCP so what we should do? Spread over Systems around or Stick in 1 bunch for pvp/pve?

This is an extremely one sided mechanic. All the loss is on the person putting in the work and doing the ratting. There is NO benefit to the ratters. I’m excited for the change but this is all loss to the ratters. Poorly planned mechanic.

Probably, could this be a result of the externally enforced budgets by CCP’s new masters? Insidious pay to play - or rather, pay to win? It’s looking increasingly like it.

Well said Blitz. there is NO upside for the player doing the work only a bonus opportunity for the hunter killer pilot who already had ratters and miners to kill. come on CCP where is the carrot?

in addition , the small player groups will simply lose the isk. if the thief goes through the gate, all things being equal, they get the loot , you cant catch them. the solo ratters cant reship and chase , so if you cant have “extra” players guarding the ESS, it is simply a dead loss No value to locals, only to the hunters. free isk they didnt have before.
