Loved to get up on a free day, grab a coffee, log in my rorquals, mine a little, reading news, get another coffee, survive 250 man bombers bar hotdrop with help from 250 alliance dudes and get back to mining while i did some super ratting cause i was addicted to faction titan spawns and the loot i got from those like in diablo.
That is all gone now thx to ccp, and besides the war i really dont know what its left to do with my playstyle in eve.
Wait, Iâm lost.
How does the ESS update impact anything youâve said up here?
Im not convinced these folk are as poor as they are claiming.
some people seem to think that ratting is safe afk behaviour that is just an isk cash cow. For many of us, it is hard work. we grind out some isk and lose ships regularly to intruders in spite of intel and defense teams. it is a reasonable balance of risk / reward and the intermittent pvp is usually fun. This change may increase intruder action but does nothing for the ratter and his friends defending. it is a pure takeaway with time parameters that go against casual players. it wont make people want to play more, we will lose people over it. in addition it is far too complex to see the underlying code not being an issue with lag as every transaction is recorded. it is not a good idea.
i didnât realize warping to an anomaly, launching drones, and then going afk for 20 minutes is âhard workâ
Let CCP handle this part, lmao. You donât know what youâre talking about here.
Standard carebear/safebear defeatism.
Sure, like always you are going to win some and lose some, but you really are invoking the worst case scenario here. Most times, it will be a four yahoos who show up to contest your 100M ISK or whatever is in the bank. Theyâll be in disposable ships, looking for something to do and randomly yeet or otherwise end up in your system.
Ok, sometime youâll get some 50-man fleet you are outmatched by wandering through, but oh well. Stay docked, and write off 50% of your last 3 hoursâ ISK. Big deal. Most of the time no one will come by, and if they do, you can still decline the fight. There is just a small cost to that now instead of it being the best choice as it is now.
Your income is not going to be dramatically impacted by the ESS - there just arenât enough content creators out there. Maybe that will change, but I kinda doubt it. Eve is mostly krabs now and they have better things to do than risk their ships for a fraction of the pittance you are ratting. I could be wrong, but letâs at least wait to see how things shake out before deciding that the game is unplayable for the conflict-averse farmer. I kinda think these changes are going to fail - but not in the way that keeps you up at night, but rather that no one will care and the unbridled krabbing will go on unabated.
Weâll see I guess.
Have you ever been in regions with npc constellation?
This is the thing that most carebears and krabs donât realize.
Theyâre gonna be safe like 99% of the time.
They only remember that one time a week ago when they got dropped on by some bored Bomberâs Bar gang that formed up over a weekend.
They donât remember the rest of the 6 days when they krabbed to their heartâs content with nothing happening.
They only remember that one gank by a wormhole gang from a lucky chance signature spawning.
They donât remember the weeks of nothing where they could go afk and krab 12-15 ticks worth of isk.
Here, I found an example of a common carebear krab.
Since APRIL of this year, this guy has only lost 5 Myrms.
He only lost ONE Myrm a month between September, October and November.
THE REST OF THE TIME he was krabbing, he didnât die. No losses in June, no Myrm losses in July / August. This guy was krabbing for a vast majority of this time compared to dying by gankers.
Stop over exaggerating, carebears, and look at the actual evidence. Youâre going to be fine, stop being whiny krabs.
Are you seriously that blinded by your own view of the world that you dont recognize that some areas are visited several times per day even during calm periods?
The rest of the time he could as well doing stuff irl, since before that he even got some kills. Your âevidenceâ is horseshit.
contrary to opinions expressed in this forum, many of us do NOT afk rat. As far as my qualifications to judge underlying code, i can assure you that my skillset in coding is adequate to judge that transactional calculations in real time will affect performance. perhaps you havent undocked lately . As far as CCP handling the code issues. sorry , i have no confidence in their ability to assess impacts or prevent repatching following badly tested updates.
Stop, youâre just embarrassing yourself with this. Unless you are literally a CCP developer who is actually doing the work, stop making up junk you donât know.
Cool. Again, let CCP deal with it.
You loose ships because you are afk/semi-afk.
i dont think the issue is my credentials. the question in this thread is whether the ESS change is beneficial to the game and a side issue of whether CCP can execute it. Other than the usual complaints about afk ratting carebears, The general sense of the thread is that this change is convoluted , complex, and is not likely to increase game enjoyment by a substantial number of players. As such, my opinion,(which carries no more weight than anyone elses) is that it is a bad idea. especially when layered in with the DBS changes and the mining changes.
For the record: people dont lose ships if they are not afk?
afk ratters deserve what they get. active ratters can still lose ships , but generally should not.
I never said your credentials were at issue.
The only thing at issue here is your baseless and unfounded assumptions in claiming that you know exactly how CCPâs code works on their backend, and your claim that itâs going to cause âlagâ (lol).
Krabs arenât people, so itâs fine. Let them cry about it. They do this all the time with every change and look, theyâre still here, playing the game.
Then youâre blissfully unaware of the EVE Online ecosystem in a big picture way and only caring about its impact on your personal afk krabbing lifestyle. But newsflash kid, EVE Online is more complicated than that.
Feel free to educate yourself on why CCP is making these changes in a dev blog they released back in March.
Active ratters should defend their space or not deserving to live in that space.
Yeah no such thing as empty systems, filaments, rage rolled wormholes, cloaky campers, blops dropping, dread bombs etc. Other than those little things you are totally correct!
the advent of needljack filaments has added some complexities to defending space against a group that suddenly appears and drops on you. its not the usual. see them coming response fleet of the past.
