My comment wasn’t specifically making it available for alphas, it was the feature as a whole.
Not only did it incur development costs, but now they have to maintain it.
I do not picture eve being a game people play via browser in mass quantities.

Lots of people at work, commuting or otherwise limited will use this.
Not with mobile data they won’t as this streaming will be bandwidth and quota hungry. They would need to use WiFi on their transport mode if available.
Also mobile ISP’s will use CG-NAT. That may pose a problem for CCP’s IP detection and blocking policies (which IPv6 will render useless anyway), and mobile travelling makes IP changes frequent if you’re actually on the move crossing hotspots.
Will they though? How many people are playing games on their work pcs?
Does CCP thinking swaths of people are making for their local library to play eve on a public pc or something?
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a cool technical flex, but I don’t see it being profitable.
0 at CCP HQ (well, not Eve at least).
Did I win?
Well, I don’t know anything about the technical side of things. All I can say is that charging alphas 30 plex for 24 hours is really steep, and that’s coming from someone who defended the sub price increase. I mean, I thought one of the good things about this was supposed to be that it would allow people to run eve on a potato. But at prices like that, I can’t help be reminded of The Boots Theory.
They are playing games, just not Eve lol.
Have you seen the price rise threadnaut? 4000+ of them.
They pay for 10+ accounts but can’t afford to pay for 1 post price rise.
Well if they aren’t poor, why do they need to play eve in a browser and not just install it on their $3,500 laptop?
Checking your orders, a spot of afk mining, perhaps do some basic UI stuff or other basic management.
Lots of people play at work, lots more are limited by crappy work PC’s or nasty firewalls. Allowing them to use the browser would add a lot more potential players.
Nobody cares about professional crybabies like you and yours.
Is there bandwidth numbers for this?
What would it consume per hour?
I presume render quality isn’t a factor here as it’s just the scene streamed?
“Lots of people play at work” I think that is an extremely far-fetched claim.
Yea sure they check social media probably, but playing a full blown MMO?
You’d be surprised, lots of low effort play styles of course but tons of people do this.
Being able to, rudimentary, play eve on a tablet is going to be really useful. Now picture a tablet with 5G and an unlimited plan and suddenly you can experience CCPs fuckups even while hiking.
does it not work in Denamrk? I have 1000/1000 mbs fiber and it tells me my connection is too slow. yet i download files with 400mbs plus lol.
It should be available in Denmark according to the expansion announcement:
It do tell me that EVE anywhere is not avaible in my country (Denmark) but should be? i have 1000/1000 mbit and no manipulation software
I still miss Dust to be honest, I really liked that game and I think they bailed too soon.
If they’d have made it for ps4 instead of 3, that would have been a better experience
