At least theyāve put an end to character bazaar scamsā¦I think.
yea ummā¦ hey im a nationalist and say ccp should hire usa devās to fix email cause it was a nice feature to have just like on the old forumsā¦ but since I lack my medication and a csm cheerleader can say soā¦ I know nothingā¦
no wonder this game and that Icelandic company is so far up chits creek that itāll take more than peddles to get them out of the hole theyāve dug.
Sad thing is, Eve could be HUGE!!!
I knew a guy (not a friend) that owned the hottest nightclub in town.
It couldnāt possibly fail.
Between snorting most of his profit, his staff stealing Ā½ of the remaining balance and serving underage girlsā¦he was shut down within six (6) months.
ā
that is very true, I mean yes weāre giving them feedback in raw form, unfortunately they turn off their earsā¦cause of work load of courseā¦ I mean hey you hire enough people you could balance work load but again im out of my medicines todayā¦
to get thisā¦
we gave up ā¦email accessā¦
send me the link to broadcast4reps pls
Okay, firstly watch the ranting if it continues I will take action.
Now that I have that out the way, here is a few things to consider
We moved away from the old forums as they were becoming more and more unstable, they were never designed for the amount of information in the database, or the amount of use that they received. The old forums was a very heavily modified version of http://www.yetanotherforum.net/ .
The new forums software and design was among other things chosen and structured in a way that allowed it to be relatively separate from Eve Online. Basically, Tranquility and the Authentication servers could fall over for reason x, y or z and anyone who was already logged into these forums would still be able to post. The login time on this forum is a couple of months so wouldnāt even have to visit the forums just before such a hypothetical and failure and you would still be able to post.
Even if you were not logged in before such a failure you would still be able to view the forums.
Eve Mail was never part of the old forums, Eve mail was part of a separate loosely connected website Eve Gate. Putting aside the fact that Eve Gate was shut down very quickly due to a major security concern it had not been functioning well for a very long time, the load times of pages were horrendous.
Finally, I have not heard anything about the old forums: https://forums-archive.eveonline.com/message/6983564/ I will attempt to find out why they are offline.
Which is it?
Evegate had been meant to be replaced for a long time. (I think having to work on it caused mental trauma to the afflicted developers. There were issues like being unable to use it, when docked in a citadel, for example).
The shutdown was accelerated (without an immediate replacement) because of the security concern.
I have seen emails coming to me and I could send them easily. I did not care how they were conected. because it just worked.
Thank you.
We all know that the ārelaxed forum rulesā are still inversely proportional to the degree in which the powers that be are comfortableā¦or not.
Do your worst mate!
Sure, but it worked badly to the point that it was going to need to be replaced, āworkingā and āworking properlyā are 2 different things when youāre dealing with the backend, just because the end user isnāt seeing an issue it doesnāt mean it doesnāt exist, i run a stats site for another game and while the frontend works the backend has to be poked and prodded and things adjusted and changed to keep it going, that being said there is a limitation on the backend software and once that breaking point is reached it will need to be replaced
The same as happened to EVE Gate
No, no, Steve, My point is that, whether or not you work for CCP you represent the player base (or at least a portion of it), and in order to do so effectively you surely need to be able to take a step back when things get hot and use a cool head (helps in-game, too).
This will enable you to counter arguments cogently rather than get caught up in the emotional dramas created by your opponents, and thereby to identify the essence of a problem and suggest focused solutions in a mature manner.
Just a side-note; careful of your implied logic. If you are a ārespond in kindā person, the way youād respond to someone who is being ādumbā is to be - dumb! (not ābitingā). What you mean is that you have no patience with people you perceive as being ādumbā. Thatās ok; just say āIām not a patient man and Iām occasionally arrogantā, and have done with it!
Not sure this is the place for thatā¦
Problem is CCP is the problem.
For solutions, I see only vodka being the only choice when dealing with it.
I mean, you have to drink a lot to understand them.
yes now this is proper customer service. a great explanation of the issue regarding our emailā¦ thatās all it tookā¦
ISD_Stall for CSMā¦ time to put some real quality on the council.
I get what you say, Nana, and thereās no doubt that overall responsibility for the game is CCPās; all shortcomings must eventually be laid at their door.
CCP established the CSM and have had ultimate charge of its development - whether or not theyāve been helped with advice and other input from well-wishers.
Despite its many achievements (I think thatās true, although Iāve not the evidence to hand), I struggle to see the need for a formally structured player council whose views can be totally ignored at will.
That doesnāt mean Iām not in favour of players influencing the gameās development, just that the CSM is not currently the organ to do it effectively.
Could you please explain why I can not send message via Eve Portal other than reply to someone? If I want to send new mail and filled all the fields its keep saying - missing fields please fill all the fields. ā OK.
Itās such lame to see that and then read that Eve Gate didnāt work properly while Iāve used it for years with no issues at all.
No idea iāve not used any of the 3rd party tools, to be fair if i was going to use one i would probably write it myself just to get a feel for it but i do my mails ingame like a heathen
