But you have to be aware that humans always try to find explanation, even when it necessitates inventing things that didnt happen.
You could blame the gaming industry for developing more interesting games. You could blame players for being bored of the game and providing any excuse to stop playing it. You could blame CCP for changing game.
It may be all a bit true.
In my opinion CCP just have to stay focused on the game anyway, adding stuff instead of removing.
We get it man. Your view is player connection numbers are not actually dropping. The alternate point of view is based off my discord server and the fact most of everyone I’ve ever known in this game is just gone.
You can tell me the same old lines: its summer, Wow Classic. I’ve literally interviewed hundreds of pilots in my time as a recruiter/ceo. I’ve had several hundred pass through the corp.
I have to play Dr Phil on a daily basis when it comes to morale. CCP has done me 0 favors to try to grow my community.
So go ahead and continue your position – maybe even sub counts are going up in your univserse.
Why do you keep making a strawman.
I’ve literally said all through this thread that yes, the PCU has dropped.
Why on earth do you keep claiming I’ve said otherwise then making an argument against that.
But if you want to actually point at a particular thing as responsible, then bring some evidence. Don’t just toss mud at the wall.
why i stopped to play? huge multiboxing, bots, war change, PA (pearl abyss) content, trivlagaga things…
since they sold the game, i really feel a difference but maybe that just me
I don’t have to prove anything, the steady decline of log-in numbers is all the proof that’s needed. If the new content recently added to High Sec hasn’t helped reverse that trend, then that content is part of the problem. The same goes for Null Sec space too.
In fact almost all of CCP’s recent changes to the game has chased more people away compared to how many people it brings in. What’s silly is you saying you’re right and everybody else is wrong.
I unsibscribed yesterday with my 2 accounts, because it seems CCP completly lost. Zero info about future updates or anything about what direction they want to follow, so I’ll play something else until things clearing.
So no evidence at all, Gotcha.
Yes there is a decline, but for all we know that decline is part of MMO’s becoming less popular compared to other types of games, and without CCP doing these changes EVE would have even less people.
The problem is you are imaging EVE exists in a vacuum here, and that only CCP has influence on the player base.
Note, I’m not saying CCP is perfect, I’m just saying you are being willfully ignorant at this point of all the factors involved when you try and make claims about ‘X change drove players away’.
Actually you can, but for that you need a logical proof. While the existence can be proved by exhibiting a case.
So you can’t prove that something does not exist, unless you make a proof of the absurd of such an existence.
Example I can affirm that cats “only black and only white at the same time” do not exist, because it is intrinsically absurd.
But then I can have lived my whole life without seeing a single hairless cat, does not mean that this is a proof that there are no hairless cats.
Here the issue is that DMC is affirming his opinion as truth, without a single argument for this. The “it’s obvious” argument is not one : it actually shows the impossibility to make such an argument.
The real matter here, is that many people can have different opinions, it means people who affirm arbitrary choices as truth are statistically more likely to be wrong and misleading people - that is, make people act based on wrong assertions.
DMC is just claiming something he does not like is responsible of all the issues in the game. Nothing more. Maybe I would do the same if I cared enough (about HS). Still I like Eve and as much as I wish him to enjoy it, being so self-centered IMO means he can’t have a constructed opinion on the topic.
On the issue of testing and being in the middle of game development companies, the one who claims must prove it, not the other way around. We know that Wildstar disappeared due to “extreme difficulty” and that Ultima Online grew when they created a server only PVE. So, if we all see that the PCU is going down, and someone says they are in a video game company and that the others are bad, it sounds like someone who is a straw man or a covert account of the company in the company forums. You can’t cover the sun with one finger.
It really is time to toss away what this community feels is convention in favor of a more appealing vision which is vastly more inline with the one I was spoonfed originally.
Whether the tech changes or not this game was vastly superior prior to the invisible vision change[whenever that actually happened]. Are we building virtual worlds or the latest frag 'em online game?
I think it’s more a sign of the times. Eve is a great game at what is does; which is sandbox space game. But just because you like sandbox games like Skyrim doesn’t mean you’ll like a sandbox mmo like Eve or Black Desert etc.
Newer generations of gamers just don’t seem to have the attention span/time for a game like Eve (or MMOs in general) which requires a lot of time and some research in order to have success.
In other mmo’s like WoW, you can buy into endgame for the price of a standard console game and then be carried by your friends who have been playing for the last few levels or solo grind in less than month and all content is available to you.
But in Eve, it would be prohibitively expensive to try and buy your way to catch up to friends who have been playing the game longer than you. And even then if you did have the disposable cash to buy your way in to a Rorq or carrier (or ships aside… a “role” like burst commands or logistics) you may or may not be able to participate in those activiites because of the way the game is structured on player created content.
Whereas as evidenced by extremely popular games like Fortnite, and League of Legends where a new person can jump right away into a timed PVP match (that is made for them by the client), finish that game to completion in a few minutes, start a new game or go do something else. There is no ‘rogue-like’ mechanic for dying and you can grind an ‘get gud’ or quit.
Most new games are being developed to cater to this type of gamer (nothing wrong with it…but it’s not Eve’s style of game). Companies are going to chase the money naturally based on the market demand.
TLDR; So maybe, just maybe, we are a ‘dying’ breed of gamer. Instead of the other way around.
Ahh ok, you don’t have any evidence to back up your statement either. So instead of admitting that all the recent game changes by CCP has had a negative effect on the player count, we’ll just blame the constant decline of log-in numbers on the weather.
Don’t assume that you know what I think or believe, you’re not a mind reader.
The reeeeee is going to be amazing when CCP folds and EVE shuts down perma and all you lot that have spunked thousands up the wall have nothing to show for it ahahahahahahahahaa!
nah i been in null and cant undock without blues bombing the undock. majority of my deaths are to corp/alliance/blues undocking, ratting or mining reason why i settled for a 1 man corp anymore these days
