“Peak” Concurrent (a number that only exists for a few minutes) vs. “Concurrent Average” (the average throughout the time period), which is the thread topic.
Also, EVE summer slumps are typically June/July/August and recover in September, where they exist at all (the seasonal changes vary quite a bit due to other factors).
Reading comprehension. It’s a thing. You should try some!
Historically, EVE summer slumps start around May and end around November. There is variation, for example sometimes it starts sooner, other times ends starts later, some years Jan-Jan is one entire slump, but that doesn’t matter: we are not experiencing anything atypical this year. 2016 had a similar slump and recovered in November (even after controlling for Alphas). There also weren’t 10’s of thousands of accounts banned for EULA violations.
@Solecist_Project Apologies, I wasn’t ignoring your awesome post - it was awesome I had scheduled holiday today so had a few glasses of wine last night. I actually try avoiding posting in this thread as it is ultimately indicative of how I feel bitter at the nose dive the game has taken and I genuinely miss the good old days which I see no return to now. *Tickles under the chin.
I can tell there is big change coming. You should not give up yet. They’re planning on putting all the new players into a single system, which makes them much easier to approach. There’s a good chance people will “gold rush” them, because they’re so easily accessible.
I don’t remember if it was in an interview or from the minutes themselves.
Probably an interview. I’ll probably find it eventually.
It’s a smart thing to do when your amount of new players starts decreasing. It’s actually something they should have done ages ago already. I’m looking forward to it.
Ideas aside - first time in 10 years I’ve not played Eve and all I seem to currently get when I’m browsing the web casually is plex adverts and how I can enhance my gameplay - honestly, CCP Hilmar who doesn’t care as cash in the bank, and Pearl Abyss get all they deserve at this point - genuinely sad we got to this point, but it is what it is. *Tickles Solecist again under the chin and pines for days long now past.
I haven’t done this in years!
Did you really do this? That tickles!
*pokes your nose* beep. *snickers* xD
Anyhow … *rubs her chin* … what was I … oh … yes …
I need to pee!
…
uuuhhhh
…
Hey, imagine us in the rookie system.
People nowadays don’t know quality content
if it ganked them in the face after robbing them stupid!
To me it looks like Hilmar actually wants to get rid of farmers again and is now looking for a slow way of doing it. We’ll only really know when they announce or release the next batch of big changes, but only then we can be sure.
There’s just no way this whole thing turns into a better direction over the course of a patch. This needs time. If they really want to save this game, they have to shift the population again. A shift away from that carebear imbalance back to people who actually make the game … well … the game.
I just really can’t tell which way they’re going to shift. It definitely looks like they’re going to shift the population again and I actually doubt it’s going to be towards even more farmers, because catering to farmers is what brought us into this mess.
I think the new offer / publish in launcher of the 1000000 sp pack (sp from thin air) is a hint of the desesperation of CCP now. And the skill spree without expiration for now, is another.
I can find 18k days 3 years ago.
Yes numbers are down, but they are not down as dramatically as people keep trying to say. the long term EVE offline graphs drop data points which makes it look worse than it really is.
I think, average concurrent players dropped because in rencent months CCP banned lots of botters plus blackout plus other things.
But, yeah, activity slowdown a little.
Games like EVE Online are Unique! CCP could use this factor in your favor!
Strangely, EVE Online grown up in social media, web site content, videos but not in players.
The only thing I blame CCP is The Alliance Tournament that won’t happen this year! There should be three such tournaments every year!
I have an idea to built PVP Arenas in highsec near main trade hubs! 1x1, 2x2 fights generated and managed by software! Players that wishes to join only have to pay for the “pre” fitted ship to choose for! Making it more fair to compete and with rankings! A more complete idea of this Arena Coliseum PVP should be discussed! Arena PVP exists in Abyssal space, but it isnt always fair and ppl arent watching!
Ppl can watch it and make bets!
Looks like metaplasmids are gambling. Fairly straightforward, you take items with some value (you bet some money on having good luck), roll the effects, then its worth less or more. You can of course argue that its not using real money, but contrargument is its not about money but the effect gambling have on your brain.
CCP is eager to take your money even if it involves exploiting addicts gambling habits.
In relation: “CCP and you”, you are only a customer they want to exploit, its that relation. They are no different in that aspect from EA.
Go read legal definitions of gambling. Mutaplasmid don’t count.
That’s not to say I like them, I dislike them as rng is a cheap way to increase grind dramatically, and they hit the same brain centres as gambling does.
But legally they aren’t going to run foul of gambling laws.
She is too old and dry. No energy left. Her ass probably isn’t even half of what it used to be. She would struggle with scamming a five year old. Remember when people talked about her? When she was the hottest chick in all of Amarr?
Nowadays she is probably selling rugs to rookies at a permanent 50% “sale” to feel like she still got it.
