Null is getting a huge shakeup to give the rest of the game a life line. The value of isk and minerals is on the increase, so other areas of the game have value. The blackout is also only the beginning. There will be a rebalance of rewards for null.
The only players that are quitting because of the blackout (or vni changes) are botters and farmers too entitled to play in low or high-sec. They are not going to be missed. They’ll make room for more interesting gameplay.
Level 4 missions disabled for alpha players is what got me unsubbed for this game, because i can no longer do level 4’s with my alpha friends.
yes you can.
One of your bot friends need to be an omega.
yeah thats really no excuse as an omega can pull lvl 4s and alphas can go with them
There is little or no chance of Eve having too few predators. Eve is a game were being the “bad guy” is encouraged, and being a “carebear” is mocked.
If you want to see what a pure, predator only environment looks like in Eve, look at the kill stats in Faction War zones like Black Rise. It’s mostly pirates vs pirates, which is okay if that’s what you like. The irony is that FW was supposed to be a way to ease new players into pvp, but that’s a different story.
You can have prey only environments. Wow does that with their pve servers. Surprisingly, you can easily do this in Eve by forcing the safety switch to green in high-sec and creating more pve content. I’m not suggesting this, or even want it. It also has about as much chance of happening as satan ice-skating to work.
Lastly, it’s not just Eve, all MMOs are declining. Google this for yourself.
between people that want to do single player online and people getting their 5 min fixes in MOBA type games where theres still no team work. I get to listen to my wife yell at her teammates all the time because they are running off doing whatever and getting taken out while she having to fight a group they ran into.
As I said in other context, the nullsec shakeup and nerfs finally reveal that nullsec gameplay is super niche and doesn’t offer much aside from superior and safe ratting and mining income. Take this away and you are left with … nothing … you can’t find in (or from) other space.
You and CCP have to ask, what is the reason for people to live in nullsec nowadays?
no local and gates !!!
That’s no reason to live there, but to roam and invade.
roaming of people who enjoy no local and gates !!!
Roaming in empty space because nobody lives there, and not finding other roamers because … no local.
Once the safety nets have been removed CCP can up the rewards, albeit in a very different way than it is now. Hilmar stated this in that Finland interview.
This would be the right move … but I have my doubts CCP will be able to create good conflict drivers. Just upping the ratting bounties will not do the trick.
Actually null has not changed that much compared to before. It’s just that you can’t play safely by docking the moment a fleet appears.
It’s a sandbox, you search what you want.
on the opposite, I found that local was a deterent to living in null before. People knew you were here and were hunting you instead of mining their own business.
IMO the only issue is the lack of commitment generated by the cloak.
You can use DSCAN, when cloaked and find about people who are active while they can’t. IMO the acquisition of intelligence should require active gameplay, not “use the cloak, luke”.
Something like : if you do not appear on dscan, then you lose dscan usage. If you do not appear on overview, then you lose overview usage.
From what he stated it will be a changing/finite income source. I’m going to guess it’s finite blotches of moongoo or similar. And then increase the importance of those products.
I can see null becoming “the dark void” so to speak, combined with massive restrictions on cyno/insta traveling meaning the good old days of freighter runs. So lots of effort and active manpower involved, instead of afk autistic grinding.
null still has a very good reason to mine.
https://ratemy.rocks/?loc=moon&sec=nullsec
Just you can’'t do that with AFK rorquals as easily.
You know, nobody with sane mind wants to not AFK mine. This is still a game not a labour camp.
Then change mining. Why not use that old hacking mechanic where the cans “explode away” and you have to catch them?
Mining laser on the asteroid, then ever so often a chunk of ore breaks off that drifts away. You can’t see it in the overview, you have to “grab” it from the screen. And they’re visible to everyone, not just the miner.
Sounds familiar right, just on a smaller scale.
Who would be so stupid as to propose that ?
