Well I’ll give you one thing with that attitude you’re certainly playing the right game but to do that to a company IRL that’s just plain nasty.
I don’t know how all countries do it but generally in the one I’m from you book with a non refundable deposit which is a fraction of the full cost. If you can’t make it then you lose the deposit and if they can’t fill the room during when you would have been there that deposit helps tide them over. After all if they’re not making any money they won’t survive very long.
It’s not your fault a new virus has emerged but it’s not the hotels either.
When you book anything in advance you are taking a risk. When you go abroad you would usually have insurance to cover those kind of risks.

It seems that Reykjavik Excursion fanfest page has stopped working. Golden Circle with devs has been cancelled too. I got email about cancellation. Instead RE fanfest page you are now directed to different activity page that has more activities than RE fanfest page had. For those who are still thinking to go to Iceland I created Advanced Google search that has search word Iceland always and either words travel or corona. Search has been limited to one week time so it should give up to date information about situation in Iceland.

Perhaps some future CCP event should be “All inclusive”? Including flight, hotel etc.
Kind of personal arranged by an CCP agency,a personal custom offer.
If a future event would then get cancelled,the participants can get all their money back 
Or some kind of step-back-insurance with the CCP tickets which cover booked flights/hotel,for a few % more ticket cost.
Going on their content history, you’d get your tickets and free goodie bag, but the airport would be only half built and Iceland would just be a drawing

Now that some time has passed, I have to wonder if the opinions of all the toilet paper hoarding headless chickens previously saying how CCP was overreacting have changed at all. I guess that as long as you have the internet available when you can manage to uncurl yourself and leave the corner of your room furthest from the door, you’ll be okay.
