EVE is doomed

You can’t sell or give away the SP from bundles, they are consumed when claimed by your character. So there is no “infinite multiplying by buying on different accounts”. Sure, I guess extractors work but really, anyone who has that much cash with that little brains isn’t a threat regardless of the SP they buy.

Another clueless Raven thread.

Clueless? Mmm…
What clue you need to realize that you can extract SP?

And what it changes?
It’s SP from nowhere.
Under 4kk it’s not a real threat since you cant exctract below 5kk.
But over 5 it becomes P2W backdoor.

No EVE is not doomed.

It’s foolish to expect a game as old as EVE not to adapt to today’s market demands.

The consumer changes CCP changes the game to tailor to the consumer. Sadly, many people want instant SP and ships. I personally don’t like those huge SP packs, but people do buy them. That supports the game and CCP sees some income in that and we as players generally accept/tolerate that.

EVE still has things going for it. I personally think the mining rebalance was a pretty good idea. CCP layered up industry more mixing in PI/Moon goo/reactions.

CCP has made mistakes like they botch every event roll out for example. The roll out of their huge triglavan story line was full of bugs and what not.

All of these EVE is doomed threads are not even close at trying to be objective.

It has nothig with market demands.
Market cant be fulfullid with these bundles anyway.
But someone rich enough can easly pass through any time and gameplay limitations.

It’s called - P2W.

You can have all the SP in the world that can’t compensate for EVE skill.

Yes, it does. People want instant gratification. It’s why CCP added things like abyssal proving grounds and abyssal dead space.

The troll under the bridge doesn’t need any more goats to feed on.

Selling stuff also gives them development time. But its also an incentive to make new skills take longer which could be bad.

This is simple. Imagine all of the SP of players that have left and will never return. Now RP that your pool comes from there, and maybe you can hold off your doom for another day.

I’m more concerned with the $20 sub price and the fact that “wokeness” is starting to grip the community. The “woke” stuff is really dangerous and there’s a well documented history of “woke” cadres destroying communities from within. And with the $20 sub price, less people will be subbing to the game. This double whammy spells doom.

They’ve already said they’re removing being able to learn skills via time. How else you think you’re gonna get them?

Bah…people seem to have an extremely blinkered way of defending their particular ‘core principles’.

Let’s face it and be honest, you can’t get round the issue of complaining about SP being sold by making one example OK via some spurious logic, while all else is not OK, and calling this ‘balance’. To the person buying the SP…what the heck difference does it make what the source is ? If the entire complaint is that people can buy SP and thus progress without ‘doing the time’…what difference does it make that someone else did the time ? The ‘unfair advantage’ of P2W is there all the same either way.

I dont see how this is dooming though.

For most of my 16 years in EVE I’ve been told by the elites that SP means nothing. It’s time in game that’s important, not how much SP you have.

But now that you can buy your way to max skills, these same elites are having a conniption.

I’m so confused.

That’s pearl abyss vision for Eve online.
It well document Pearl abyss predatory monetization practices in other games it owns like Black Desert Online. The over arching goal became clear to me a about a year ago and that’s when i stopped playing.

Monetize EVE to the point its easier to just P2W, Reduce player wealth with scarcity to reinforce the need to pay to win. Increase Sub price and plex prices to cater to “Whale Players” who sell plex to buy injectors rather than playing the game.

The guy who bought enough injectors to max every skill and then streamed this act was enough to accept injectors were mistake and pissing in every vet players face. but CCP greed has had them making terrible choices starting in 2010 and after.

The only way EVE is doomed is if they can no longer make money. EVE might be over for individual players that don’t like the direction the game is going, but that doesn’t mean it’s doomed. OP said it themselves, players will buy Skill points, the fact that players are doing this means that the game making money off of that decision, just like they do off subs, PLEX, skins, etc. Adapting to the market is what games need to do to survive. As long as there are new players, this game will keep going.
