EVE needs a place new players can try PVP easily

In a mirror match with 2 pilots at exactly the same skill level equipment will give you an edge, but in most cases it´s not the deciding factor.

Especially if you fight against an inexperienced player. The general fitting and understand how to use it to your advantage matters a lot more than the quality of the modules.

And your arena will give new ppl the wrong impression about PvP in EvE + the whole system would be used by vets anyway. So there is nothing to gain with such an idea and in the worst case you even shatter the little bit of confidence aspiring new PvPers might have.

You are the one who said that it would not hurt to have sex with a doll first. You are the one with warped, questionable ideas about that and how to learn PVP in EVE. Don’t blame me for calling you out on your not fully thought through actions. Hopefully you learn your lesson and think before you post something the next time.

Bad argument. New players don’t know dueling exists because the game doesn’t tell them, just like every other ‘suggestion’ in this thread.

Not responding to drama lama.

I could put to people in a room and

So wouldnt it be easier for ccp to tell new players that duels exist instead of your solution?

Tell them duels exist and give them a duel arena. Again, what’s the problem?

So how would you define a “new player” and how would you ensure that only new players use it and not, say, people who played for years and have a history of being bad at 1v1 and got tired of losing to “real players”?

It’s not about stopping old or skilled players, its about stopping ‘power creep’ of access to equipment that new players don’t have. The first thing new players do is look to blame equipment and skill points, thats what makes new players quit trying.

How do you know for sure that they don’t know ? Do you have a crystal ball that we don’t know of ?
When I was new me and my corp mates easily found out about it, you just had to undock from Jita or press the Esc key and find out that there’s this option to block duels.
Really ?!

Seriously dude , all that you did so far is to reject every reality of the game nuanced by others here and any feasible solution to this .
If you don’t want to be constructive about this and bash absolutely everything that others say , then please stop spamming the forums.

I think you’ll find everyone has bashed my idea for no reason at all. Don’t try and make out like I’m the grumpy one.

If you think that the addition of new player duel arenas is somehow going to send an irreversible and detrimental ripple effect through the fabric of eve, then you need to go to the doctors and get your head checked. The idea is really not a big deal at all and everyone is making out like its a nuclear bomb. It’s ridiculous.

Then I really don’t see the point. From my perspective I’ll start doing FW on an alpha alt, so already a challenge, just to gain experience and exposure. I don’t expect to win, I don’t HAVE to win, as I’m a grown up who can deal with loss and understanding there’s a hill to climb and the goal is learning to climb that hill. I come from Elite Dangerous where I mostly do piracy (although as an Imperial we call it taxation), it’s a learning process which takes a long time and will be littered with losses and mistakes.

People who go “eek, I might die” can’t be pulled into a PVP environment, no MMO has ever pulled that off without making its PVP meaningless.

Its just we dont think its necessary.

If eve devs could do 10 projects in eve and not more then i would for sure find 10 better things to spend their time on. Nothing comes at no cost. Even your “project” that actually isnt needed.

No, what is ridiculous is that you want to introduce something that is already in the game . Nothing can stop 2 friends to duel in a quiet system on a safe spot for a fair 1v1 frigate fight.

Look , I’m done with you.

You don’t understand the point because you aren’t thinking the way a typical new player thinks about eve. I suggest you make an alt and hang out in rookie chat for a few weeks, they do not speak like you.

If you think the idea is redundant then that’s fine, im not against you having that opinion. I’m against the notion that adding things to help newer players get into pvp is somehow going to destroy the game like people are claiming.

Just like you could do everything in the game without the agency, but guess what, the agency makes things more visible and organised for new players.

I’m going to play the game anyway. I’ve said everything I want already.

New players fighting each other is a fast way to reinforce the mistakes that new players make.

The best way to learn to pvp is to fight against veterans and experienced pvpers and then talk to them after the fight. Most are only too happy to help with good advice.

I AM in that rookie chat, asking questions and lately answering (easy) questions. Yes most people are incredibly lazy and unwilling to learn but you don’t solve that by adding this idea of yours. It’s not going to help.

You CAN’T solve that, as long as people are unwilling to read a simple wiki or watch a 3 minute YT guide to improve themselves then no matter what you do nothing will change. I’ve been playing online competitive/PVP games and MMO’s for over 2 decades, it’s always been that way.

What EVE NEEDS is a better NPE, the rest is up to the player.

Had that system in the game since eve was born. Maybe it’s time to add other options.

People don’t like to learn things when there is too much to learn at once, go figure. It’s not just a 3 min YT video, it’s the start of an entire rabbit hole.
