Yeah, sucks for you as a vet not having new players to kill with ease.
I will also add that PVP is the last part of the game that has gone undeveloped from a new player pespective by CCP. All other career paths have had an overhaul and introduction and the game has benefited from every overhaul.
Excuse me? CCP has reduced the number of modules available, they have made modules more comprehensible and gave them dedicated roles, they make new ships and rebalance ships constantly, they made it easier to get into ships, they introduced risk-free, fair arenas, they made changes to FW plexes like Novice to allow only weak ships. All these changes were also meant to help “new players” to get into the fray faster and more effectively.
really??? how do you develop interaction between two players? They’ve done a lot of buffs/nerfs to pvp ships. player interaction =/= development.
what part of “i don’t pvp” did you miss?
Most of what you just complained about, falloff, range etc, they get basic learning from the tutorial and career agents.
90% of all newbros that i’ve seen enter the game and interact with, go straight to mining after doing the SOE
In PVP, two players either interact when one or both pilots think they can win the fight. If you are a new player and try FW, you will quickly be conditioned to think you are going to lose every fight, thus avoid interaction.
Why not?
Because there is no easy way to try PVP. Going to low sec and getting stomped is not trying PVP.
I learned exactly like that, throwing cheap fits into fights after some study, and eventually some worked. PvP learning is trial and error, and losing stuff and failure is the most important piece of it.
You don’t learn much from a win or staged fights you didn’t know before, you learn from the loss in a real combat situation. Ask your opponent why she or he thinks you lose.
This is not just veteran bs, I learned solo by watching YT videos, and trying things out. A big part was also to join as much fleets as I can of Spectre, Bombers Bar, and other communities. These are the safe zones for learning PvP, because you are not alone, and mistakes do not mean immediate death like in solo PvP.
Faction frigates are not weak.
This is what you would do after you learn the basics, yes. My idea is meant to preclude this, not replace it. The game should teach you the basics of how to defend yourself and attack other players, currently, it doesn’t.
You learn how to shoot at a target and what modules you could use to be more safe. Its not that hard to activate your gun at a player instead of an npc.
I will tell you how I got around this when I was very new to Eve. Looking for that fair 1v1 that you speak of , I just dueled a corp buddy . We tried every possible t1 frigates with every conventional an non-conventional fit that you can think of . Later we realized that we are wasting too much t2 modules and we just moved to singularity server for this . Eventually we learned every basics about t1 frigates and we got bored fast of doing this and ended up in FW space on TQ. There it was totally different and entertaining , because of many unknown parameters , you had to figure out what is bait , learn to fight outnumbered , what targets to pick first , how to manual pilot , how to make a proper sling shot, etc.
Basically this rejuvenated entirely our PvP experience , fighting outnumbered and against better opponents with better skills made us better pilots.
What you ask is that new pilots should have sex first with a silicon doll , when they can just do it with a person.
Players behave differently. You can’t learn how to move against players by fighting npcs. You also can’t effectively learn in FW because you get destroyed too quickly. By only allowing equipment and ships available to new players, it gives them a chance to survive for more than 2 seconds and actually do something.
Doesn’t hurt though does it.
What’s wrong with creating an environment for this?
So what is stopping experienced players to enter those arenas as well?
Just because they won´t be able to use better mods, that does not mean that they won´t be killing inexperienced pilots left and right.
Do you want to put an SP limit on it? Does not matter either because the vets can still stomp new players into the ground even with alts.
And I promise you these kinds of arenas would attract at the very least a few vets who will just farm easy kills. And in that situation new players, might even get the feeling that they don´t even stand a chance against other fellow new players, because they have no chance of seeing if it´s an actual new player or just an alt. I guess that will motivate them a lot.
I’ve been playing eve for 10 years and for most of that I’ve been doing FW.
Novice plexes should disallow faction ships. At the very least they should disallow pirate ships. There is nothing to be learned by a noob from fighting a faction ship that is better in every way. The only thing to learn is to not take the fight.
FW is dead-ish. There are not constant fleets. And whilst people may hand out the occasional freebies, people are not interested in helping noobs where it counts: helping them get their own kills.
How about more events like this?
A Band Apart’s 7th Annual Frigate Free For All | EVE Online
It’s on the log in screen.
If you have sex with a plastic doll first, you don’t learn how another person responds to your actions. You don’t know what is pain what what is pleasure. You don’t learn what is acceptable, what is not, when to stop and how to read the mood.
Yeah so why would you want vets having powerful faction ships to do their bidding on top of that? Like I’ve said before, it’s not about making a perfectly equal fight, it’s about giving new players an environment where winning is more correlated to skill rather than access to better equipment.
Please don’t try and say equipment doesn’t matter, it does.
The environtment is already in the game , but you just refuse to see it …
Did CCP removed dueling from the game ? No.
Nothing can stop a new player to make a friend and try this fairly as you want to .
I’ve already explained my actual idea along with the rationale, and why you are wrong. I’m not going to argue about it in terms of having sex with dolls.
