EvE needs alphas and alphas need level 4 missions

You’re, of course, right. I was exaggerating, but they really shine out. There’s more of those than of the others, which is actually interesting.

No…

Alphas were banned from level 4 and lvl5 for a reason and giving them lvl4 and lvl5 back will also re-instate the reason why it was banned in first place…

So no…no lvl4 and lvl5 for alphas…

Become omega…

shhhh…

Not anyone knows me by now

I’m actually convinced they’re having it completely locked down contractually, because giving it in hands of people who know even less about the game and it’s social dynamics than CCP would definitely be a death sentence. No one else can run this game. No one!

Imagine that. You want to buy a company’s product and you’re being told “When you touch it at the wrong time, the wrong way, the players will revolt and you can kiss this game goodbye”. I know it sounds fanboy-ish, but EVE’s really unique and weird in this way, that we actually require to be propagandized because they’re always risking pissing us off the wrong way.

I have zero doubt CCP is making sure every former potential buyer got to be well aware of our rather unique and special community, even though it’s infected by casual gamers and morons. Imagine they didn’t. There’s no way this isn’t all contractually locked down to make sure a potential buyer doesn’t kill the game within six months.

Just look at this thread. There’s a common enemy (in this case the OP trying to harm the game by giving Alphas back lvl4s) and suddenly most people even in opposition to each other will stand side by side against our common foe.

Additionally, there’s no massive influence from PA visible at all. In fact, there’s no reason to believe they actually had any real influence so far. All that CCP did to turn this game into what it is now they’ve did before they got bought and there are no significant changes in money-making schemes even a year later.

This game still belongs to CCP. Everything else would be a death sentence.

Oh I was being more technical that theoretical when I said that. You are correct that CCP could have made stipulations in the sale that stated X, Y and Z. That is pretty common. But the buyer also knows this as the clauses are all time sensitive so they will just be waited out. So maybe PA can’t make any big changes to the payment structure for two years or maybe they can’t touch the Alpha/Omega structure, etc…but there are time limits on those.

My theory was PS just wanted the sever tech as it’s pretty unique (I’m guessing) but things wont start to unravel (if they do at all) for 12-24 months. It’s coming though…and you might be right about the death sentence.

Well…erm…no…

Since pearl abyss bought ccp as a whole they NATURALLY own EVE…

I simply don’t know why you think that would be in question…

And naturally they observe the income of the game and will close it the very moment it is not profitable anymore…

I think SP’s point is that CCP still retained creative freedom and probably guarantees on other areas such as account types, fees and the economy vs real money…He’s not being literal.

I would deny even that…

I would say that many of the ccp employees are working for pearl abyss games right now and eve is just like an engineless ship on the ocean with minimal crew…

This actual update was planned 1-2 years ago and i’m not quite sure that it wasn’t the last major update this game will get…

But i can fail in this(i hope)

You understand that this can be contractually dealt with, right? That EVE can not be seperated from the seperate legal entity that is CCP, which they still are. All potential influences can be contractually dealed with as well and, seriously, no sane game developing company would touch this game with a ten kilometer stick if they can avoid it.

If that doesn’t get through your thick skull, then I don’t know what. You’re literally just your ears instead of listening to actual reason.

Well than show me proof…hoping it could be as you say does not count, just FACTS.

In the buisness world your immagination does not count and i DOUBT Pearl abyss would have accepted such a contractual deal, they wanted CCP as a whole to THEIR conditions and seemimgly(from an outsiders point of view) CCP was desperate enough to give it to them…

They sold themselves to Pearl Abyss with anything they had(obviously because they had no other choice) and what we see now are the consequences of it…

Just accept it,you will not change it…

CCP is owed by PA…any deals made are pure speculation but no company would pay half a $B and not have full control at some point. The transition period could be 6 to 24 months…who knows. At some point if PA wants they could snap their fingers and CCP would be shuttered and removed from any mention in EVE and have the Iceland office renamed as a PA location or transferred to Seoul…

Shake your fist all you want with Merin but there is a new sheriff in town now…and we’re just going to have to wait and see what they want to do…

stupid thread. nuff said. :eyes:

Who cares what is theoretically possible? PA would have to be absolutely insane to shut down CCP and take direct control over EVE. Why would they want to get rid of all of the people with hands-on knowledge of the game and replace them with new people? And who cares if the rename the office, which company logo appears on the marketing material has nothing to do with how the game is run.

The simple truth here is that EVE going full F2P would immediately kill the game, and it doesn’t matter which company logo is attached to the decision. You’re posting inane nitpicking over irrelevant details and ignoring the substance of the argument that F2P would be a death sentence for EVE.

You know you’re the only person here talking about EVE going full F2P, right? It’s not what the thread is about, and it isn’t what anyone else has said.

Read the thread before flying off the handle with the exaggerated doom predictions.

(Edit: reply to below - when you learn to read complete sentences instead of partial ones, while inventing entirely different meanings than what was said, you might get another reply. Not holding my breath for that to happen.)

So apparently now we’re at the stage of the thread where you lie about all of the discussion about how “the subscription business model is dead” and “EVE not being F2P was killing the game” and pretend that this has been a strictly on-topic discussion of the OP’s request for level 4 missions.
