EvE needs alphas and alphas need level 4 missions

So is the HyperNet PA’s foray into loot boxes or was that one CCP’s great idea?

Let’s watch…

Why do you need lvl 4 missions as Alpha?

I get it, you want more ISK. But you have not explained why you need it?

That would require him to be honest and transparent…don’t hold your breath.

find me one omega that is willing to say security missions are first class in any way. and eve makes more in the pay to win plex selling then subscriptions. and even alphas buy plex. and there are omega that are just as much freeloaders paying for there omega with plex they get in the game, plex that might have been bought by a alpha

we need it because its the entry level pve that bridges into pvp. when a new player starts the game they mess around with all the starter quests til they find what suits them. the ones that like combat start with belt rats, then maybe some pve sites, none of those players make enough isk to replace cruisers or more tho, dont argue about that the stats ccp has been collecting show that. its not my opinion its just the way things are. sure more skilled players and the ones with many maxed skills do better off but this is about the newer and unskilled/ just bad at the game players. when these players move to cruisers or just better fitted frigs and destroyers the cost of replacing those ships requires at lease the amount of isk they can make in security 2-3. yes i know there is better ways that better players can make isk. from day one players are told not to play with a ship they cant afford to lose, so most players don’t even mess with pvp till they can make enough doing something with a reasonable grind to replace the ship they would use in pvp. if the grind is to much many will just not even bother or quit before even seeing how awesome this game can really be out side of high sec. they quit not even know the game is good. level 3 missions can pay enough to replace crap pvp fits but then they spend 3/4 of there time farming and rarely want to go far from high sec. the level 4 was something a alpha could work to that would allow them to replace “ok” pvp ships fast enough they would be willing to risk them and go see the real game. lets be honest about this 99% of those alphas are going to suck no mater what they are flying. they will be out played, out skilled and out classed. But they will get a taste for that rush of real eve pvp. some will go to buy omega others will buy some plex from time to time for skill injectors and isk for battleships, others might not but they would still be out of high sec more often. a player is more willing to spend cash on a game they enjoy, then they are to pay to enjoy a game.

alphas dont need level 5 just 4. i dont think any of the best stuff should be free. and the reason for removing them was total bs, 10,000% bs, it was just lack of ability of the devs to find a real solution to a problem that still exists

Level 4 missions are not “entry level PvE”, they’re endgame-level PvE on the mission track. Nor do they bridge into PvP in any way. They have nothing in common with PvP mechanics-wise and they do not involve any interaction with other players. The only “bridge” is that level 4 missions give more money than level 3 missions, which is just the same blatant “ALPHAS NEED TO FARM BETTER” begging attached to wishful thinking about those alphas using their money for PvP.

And no, don’t give me any of this nonsense about not being able to afford a “first taste” of PvP. Alphas can easily afford T1 frigates with level 3 missions and even the occasional T1 cruiser. That’s plenty to get a first taste, and if they want to continue PvP they can pay for a real account.

you will when omega just isnt enough, when you need 200-1000 usd a month extra in plex and other micro transactions just to even play. just like all the those types of game i pointed out if you push away all the alphas you stop getting new players. when that happens PA will have to squeeze the players it has more. it will become more pay to win, and players that do have omega but not the extra 100s to spend will no longer enjoy the game and quit. as the total players drop the p2w micro transactions will increase will increase pushing more out. this isn’t my opinion its what is happening.

Restricting lvl 4 missions feels very arbitrary when most alpha bots just rat anomalies or farm faction warfare for way more isk.

At least those things require them to leave highsec and potentially become content for real players. Nothing is gained by making their zero-risk highsec farming more profitable.

I’ve got a scheme layed out somewhere where EVE could have a whole series of different unlocks for paying different sorts of fees. Around the second level or third level is “access to level 4 agents in low sec”.

I’d be fine seeing level 4 access for Alphas (or for an Alpha Plus type unlock) if the only level 4 agents they could access were in low-sec and the missions were set up to be in low as well. That would push them out of high into more engaging parts of the game, and make them potential content for other players.

like what? botting :stuck_out_tongue:

exactly what i said…

And it IS a solution…it works and reinstating it would just re-instate lvl4 botting…so WHY should ccp do this?

Alphas don’t need the dirt under the fingernails of omegas…they ALREADY have too much…

They should get LESS instead of more…

Become omega.

Problem solved.

I’m sorry, you’ve just said some things that totally invalidate your opinion in this matter.

Yeah, not gonna read the whole thread.

Alpha’s already have plenty of content available to them. When they get up to where they can run lv 4 missions in a properly fit Battleship, they should already be Omega and paying for a sub with ISK / PLEX or real life currency.

Actually this is what the thread title should have been:
Eve Needs Omegas and Omegas Need Free 1 Month Sub Per Year

Mission running has limited interaction with the rest of New Eden.

Likely PA, because it’s not only perfect for Koreans …
… but the release is also pretty well timed with Korean localisation.

I find this funny for 2 reasons - 1st, the game is going on 17 years old, and almost that entire time there was no such thing as an Alpha account. 2nd, people were buying PLEX to pay for subs LONG before F2P was a thing. I know because I was doing it in '09.

If F2P was a thing that entire 10 years I was gone I may never had stopped playing. Just being able to play would’ve kept me here, and I would’ve done whatever I could to keep playing, Alpha OR Omega.

Make friends in general.

Be helpful.
Be social.

… or literally all of the above, combined, because in EVE that’s possible.

People underestimate the impact the social aspects have, or don’t even consider it. Being known by any amount of people can and will help you tremendously in terms of content and making money.

… or …

Get a job and buy PLEX with cash,
which is the single most economical thing to do.
