One of you asked me to detail—in a new post—the vision for EVE Online that I submitted to CCP Research as part of their survey regarding the Cradle of War expansion. I won’t be doing that, even though—at this stage—it is relatively easy to guess what my vision for 2026 might be simply by reading all my contributions to this forum, without exception.
What I can do, however, is invite you all to:
read this article from June 30, 2026, right away
apply those concepts to EVE Online while imagining the impact of CCP effectively categorizing the entire player base into two distinct, separate groups—“Classic MMORPG” players on one side, and players fueled by PLEX, injectors, and multiboxing on the other; and finally,
debate it right here, if you wish…
FENRIS CREATION would be wrong to ignore this vision. They simply need to ask themselves, once and for all, just how many dormant player accounts are sitting on their servers in 2026, compare that figure to the number of truly active accounts, offer a mea culpa, and then take immediate action accordingly… And—incidentally—when FENRIS CREATION realizes the unequivocal success of implementing such a vision, which will also require a good dose of unequivocal communication on his or her part, they should at least have the honesty to acknowledge that it was I—and I alone—on this forum who was right all along!
Video game publishers should never show such disregard for the time invested by players passionate about MMORPGs—players who value clear, unchanging game rules. CCP Games wrongly neglected this fundamental issue for far too long, sacrificing it on the altar of a purely “pay-to-win” strategy.
The success of World of Warcraft Classic is, in itself, glaring proof of this.
It’d be nice to have a list of the changes you’d require to make Eve classic.
PLEX and injectors seem fairly straight forward, but how are we preventing multiboxing and why? Multiboxing has been part of EvE since the days of chopsticks taped to mice.
I’m not against the idea of classic MMO releases. I’ve never played WoW but I watched EA ruin SWTOR with non-subscription based plans and general nerfing of content and buffing of leveling and would love to see a pre-Hutt Cartel expansion release of it, as that was a good game.
But I don’t think EvE is comparable to either of those, neither are a single shard, and WoW, certainly, has much higher player numbers. My greatest concern with your EvE Classic plan is that it will just split the player base and each server will be poorer because of it. 10k characters logged in would be a much emptier EvE than 20k
You are overlooking an important factor: the number of dormant player accounts on CCP’s servers.
You should ask FENRIS CREATION to be a bit more transparent on this point than they have been so far—simply by revealing that figure to us.
Here’s a clue: how many inactive player accounts are there in your own EVE contact list? Personally, as someone playing a character created in 2003, that accounts for nearly 100% of my EVE contacts.
As for multiboxing and the resulting proliferation of alts, the technical methods to block it permanently are very simple to implement. It really just comes down to the publisher actually wanting to do so.
Regarding the categorization of players into two distinct groups, that is precisely the point of such an approach: separating two playstyles that are, in reality, completely incompatible—given how much true MMORPG players loathe any form of pay-to-win gaming.
This idea has been put forward since before Wow classic was out. It came up during Beeitnam. It was brought up ten years ago. It was brought up after the game introduced Titans. It’s highly unlikely Fenrus would introduce this, especially while they’re working on a shooter and frontiers. But if they did it, I would play it.
“This idea has been circulating since even before the release of WoW Classic.”
Indeed, I was there.
“It was brought up back in the ‘Beeitnam’ era, ten years ago”
Indeed, I was there too.
“as well as after the introduction of the Titans into the game.”
Indeed, I was still there.
etc. etc. etc.
“It is highly unlikely that Fenris will implement this, especially while they are working on a shooter and on Frontiers.”
“But if they did, I would play it.”
I would play it too, even if it meant starting over from scratch! And I already know that plenty of my friends would play it again as well.
How many years did ACTIVISION waste before FINALLY making the right decision in 2019—listening to the demands of unhappy players and relaunching World of Warcraft in its Classic version? By doing so, ACTIVISION respected two playstyles: the TRUE MMORPG players on one hand, and the players who prefer quick, multiplexed matches on the other.
To understand this, FENRIS simply needs to analyze and correlate the figures for dormant player accounts against all the expressions of dissatisfaction received so far, whether on this forum or elsewhere:
In any case, FENRIS CREATION will have no choice—especially if Icelanders decide very soon that their country should join the European Union. The disastrous economic consequences of Brexit for the UK serve as perfect proof to date that it is better to be—and remain—inside the Union rather than outside it; something the Ukrainians, for their part, are eagerly hoping for!
As we await that pivotal moment for Iceland on August 29, 2026, here is the latest on the Digital Fairness Act (DFA)—regulations with which all Icelandic companies, including FENRIS CREATION, will also have to comply:
As a reminder, here is the priority call issued in March 2026 by 87 European associations dedicated to protecting European consumers—both online and offline—along with 116 scientists:
Take the current daily logged in players… at the moment about 27.000.
Remove multiboxers.
Remove those who think that they’ve invested too much time and effort to start over.
Remove those who won’t switch simply because all their friends/corp mates won’t either.
Remove those who don’t want or cannot pay for another subscription.
Remove those who are comfortable enough to pay the current subscription with PLEX.
Remove those who simply don’t care.
What’s left are those who would play the “classic” version. Now, if you were the developer who needs to invest significant amount of money and work hours to not only acquire and setup new hardware, but to refactor the whole code base, split the development workforce, implement and run new maintenance procedures for two completely different server and client branches of the game, would you do it?
Since you are comparing it to WOW… How many concurrent players and subscribers did WOW had when they decided to invest in “classic”? An how many players does EVE have now?
Lol! I completely understand what you’re trying to tell me. The thing is, you’re completely off the mark—in fact, I’d go so far as to say your analysis literally lacks common sense…
Because limiting FENRIS CREATION’s potential market solely to players currently active on the EVE Online server isn’t just the kind of mistake a novice entrepreneur would make—the sort I wouldn’t risk betting a single cent on—it is also, and above all, a massive blunder…
As I’ve mentioned many times on this forum, you have the active players—maxing out at 27,000 today, and likely far fewer for the very reasons you rightly pointed out. Then you have the inactive players; only FENRIS CREATION knows the exact figure, but I’m certain it’s a staggering number—one that alone demonstrates the scale of the waste orchestrated by CCP Games between 2008 and 2026 (with 2003–2007 remaining, in my experience, EVE Online’s true golden age). Finally, you have everyone else—a group that requires a solid market study just to categorize and figure out how to approach them…
It comes down to one of two scenarios: 1) FENRIS CREATION has a highly competent leadership team capable of acknowledging mistakes and re-evaluating their approach following the financial failure of the disastrous marriage between CCP Games and Pearl Abyss. In this case, FENRIS CREATION could quickly bounce back and make the necessary decisions to save the franchise at the eleventh hour—decisions that would certainly include launching an “EVE Online Classic” without PLEX, skill injectors, or multiboxing (which would be far from a foolish move); or 2) FENRIS CREATION is staffed by people wired like you—people incapable of admitting their mistakes or even questioning… …question, in which case the contest will be over very quickly, given the major announcements currently coming from all the competition in the sector…
You shouldn’t be asking me that kind of question, but rather FENRIS CREATION, which wrongly keeps certain information under wraps—such as the number of inactive players who have tried EVE Online at least once, etc.
Maybe…just maybe…that common sense isnt even in play here. Lets look at it from another angle.
Maybe, its just your obsession of this subject thats the issue. As much word salad as youve spilled all over this forum about this, it would seem that its become a bit cringey on how deep youve dissected it. An eve classic server was when it really went off the rails for me.
Its like trying to walk through a picket line or something. Maybe, just maybe, the more you try to continue belaboring this issue…the more people will just stop reading it and wishing it to fade away.
There are many people that have theories about whats wrong with this company and its supposed shadiness…but they arent eating, drinking, and sleeping with it like you are.
You shouldn’t be asking for the classic version either, because, as you said - FC has the numbers. If they saw market potential, they would have capitalized on it regardless of whether someone asks for it or not.
