EVE Online Ecosystem Outlook

Various CSM comments leads me to believe that they do have a plan for this. But if that’s true, it begs the question, “why are they so reluctant to give us the details?” Well, I’m speculating here, but its quite possible that they are trying to limit the ability of speculators and the top 1% of being able to use these changes to accumulate even more wealth. In fact, this would also explain why they’ve apparently been intentionally pushing false changes to the test server (which is apparently so that those that follow hoboleaks don’t know what’s true or not*.) Moreover, they mentioned that in their quarterly survey “Wealth/power distribution and inequality between individuals and groups (the rich get richer)” was one of players’ top concerns. And this doesn’t even get into the whole mystery box thing CCP Hilmar is into.

So, idk. What I do know, however, is just because they haven’t shared the specifics of their play with us, that doesn’t mean that they don’t have a plan.

*Note that I don’t have a CCP source for this, only hearsay. I heard Matterall say this on TiS, and I don’t know where he got it from. However, I do know that I’ve seen stuff hit the test server that never came to pass; so, it is at least consistent with what I’ve observed.

In a normal situation that is a completely reasonable stance to take. But historically CCP has been pretty bad at actually having plans and following through with them. The fact it took us this long for them to even attempt to address it does not bode well for the future of these plans. Anyone with years of experience in this game will tell you to take any change CCP puts in and expect it to last for a year because they next step is just being started to work on and there is no time line for that.

So your great nullsec experience in leadership and how wars are fought is with Groon? And that tells you how wars are being fought now?

Wait, what? They waste time by intentionally creating fake patches? That’s hard to believe, but I guess you have a proof.

Generally speaking? From the tin-foil. Matterall’s a decent guy, but in the last 18 months, he’s really gotten a bug up his rear about everything being some horrible conspiracy among nullsec powers and the CSM. I only wish I knew what’s driving the nuttiness, because it seems like he’s making himself more insane every week.

The EVE economy needs fixing, but this sledgehammer approach once again shows that CCP doesn’t know how to balance changes. There seems to be no middle ground when these updates happen, it’s always to the extreme. The big groups will not feel this nerf anywhere near as much as the small corps.

After some internal discussion in our small industrial corp, we are unsubbing at least 6 accounts. We will keep our mains, but there’s no call to keep the exhumer alts. We don’t AFK, for us, the mining process was a good social activity, getting together to grind our moon belt, build & sell some ships and have fun. We will continue playing, but as this basically guts our play style, it won’t be as often.

Sure, it’s easy to argue that moon mining wasn’t always a thing, but the competition for belts is much higher - and it will be so much worse now. Anomalies in HS are of little value.

After 8 years of flying in EVE, this is the first time I’ve not wanted to bother logging back in. We may resub the alts if more changes bring the balance back later, but not holding my breath.

Just to make a point… you do understand that this update is not trying to bring balance, right? This update is basically burning things to the ground so a better foundation can be laid, and a more responsive system built upon it, which would then try to bring balance.

Or, to quote someone I don’t remember:

“Things are gonna suck for a while. But if they don’t suck now, they’ll suck more, for longer, later.”

That likely depends on what level ‘operation’ you’re looking at, doesn’t it? I mean, line members see just under 0% of how things actually work, as a rule.

That is literally his argument about why he knows better, because line members are sheep. But he is isn’t at any level to know what goes on so it is all in his imagination.

well tenicaly there exist ships full fitted and lootboxes u can buy that for Lp usualy there are t1 fitt but is a ship.

I think they will be fine i just bought a bundle pack a few days ago and will continue my omega for some time.

Ironically, what benefits null sec benefits low and high sec less…and what hurts null sec hurts low and high sec more. I do not think that there’s a way for low and/or high sec to win here.

I agree: There were a lot of empty words and phrases in that blog post (not including the part about botting, which I found to be useful, and enjoyed reading).

It would help if CCP were to include at least one example of each problem they intend to address.

That’s a fair point - except that this sucks much worse for small groups. Many players (and sadly bots) were enticed to join the game and start mining due to the introduction of moons. Now that moons in HS are not viable, there will be a massive rush for belts - ones which are already often depleted by NPC fleets.

Is there ISK to be made? Sure, and I’ll keep going, but I don’t see the point in paying for extra accounts that will make little difference now. I just hope that CCP doesn’t lose too many industrialists due to this. People love to ■■■■ on HS carebears, but we’re all in the universe together. We invested isk in our drills, we fought to defend them during wardecs, we’ve won & lost against gankers.

I could have a more positive outlook if we knew when the next change was happening, particularly the blueprint goo change, or at least some details as to what it would entail. Sadly I don’t actually think CCP knows what they will do.

To my knowledge, there hasn’t been a ‘diplomatically arranged small war’ among the null since Shadoo was leading major fleets seven years ago. There have been wars where certain things were limited by the diplos, like ‘ok, but nobody attack the stuff in highsec’ because nobody wants to deal with the headaches of fighting in highsec, but that’s it.

If you’re talking about the kind of border skirmishing and roaming into other peoples’ territories that happens despite formal NIPs… that’s not a war. Just like one group getting in as side action on someone else’s war? That’s not really their war. A war is when someone’s systems are going to burn. And when that happens between the null powers, it’s not because the diplos got together and said ‘ok, so we’ll burn this constellation if we can, and you guys can try for that one’.

‘Small wars’ among the null powers… don’t happen.

…and that, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly why I’m rolling Alpha until this ‘ish-storm’ blows over.

I’m ridiculously impressed this is the type of stuff that makes me want to invest in your game for the next 5-10 years, well done.

I can’t wait till seeing certain ships in this game becomes a wow factor again.

What about my comment is considered trolling? We have been asking for this for years and they are finally doing it.
