there are plenty of guys that make enough isk to plex there accounts. but they do more than LVL 4 missions
Gila with fit 420mil isk at current fit
Im thinking there are ships for the job without using faction modules
I do not even try to plex my account
I am down 1 bil isk in a month,
Half the reason is trying to get into nulsec.
Ship gone, pod gone, all implants gone
i get it, this is where you make a decision to stay and pick up the pieces or go play some thing else.
Ok, so, just to check: you’re trying to get into nullsec as a solo player? Like, do you mean to do missions in nullsec from the Guristas, or Mordu’s Legion, or something? Because you can’t own space as a solo player (need an alliance at least).
Oh been there a couple of times, and I am still here, it is only a way to pass the time, I am single, but at this stage, …
Just had a look at the insurance thingy, 2mil isk insurance on Gila gives a 7 mil payout that does not even cover my EM ward amplifier?
So you mean I need to own space to do gurista quests to get 80 000 LP to buy a Gila original blueprint?
Or belong to a guild where everything gets serious?
Arrendis is correct Null is no place for a solo player. and ill say this, that struggle with loose will never end in this game. like i said earlier ive been playing for a while and have probable spent enough to buy a car playing this game between subscriptions and plex. I don’t really like the direction CCP is going so do i dump the investment that ive made in eve or do I stay and play something i don’t like. so the bottom line is eve is like an ex wife, something you love to hate and cost a ton of money
No, you need to go up to Venal and do missions for them. But you need to get there. Don’t do that in an expensive pod, and don’t do it in a Gila. Get into Venal in an interceptor, or a covops frigate—something that’s hard to catch. There are markets up there, but remember: it’s not safe. As soon as you undock, you are being hunted.
And the Guristas don’t give you BPOs, they only give you BPCs. Seriously, you’re better off just running L4s in a T1 battleship in highsec. The ship is cheaper, and if you use a Dominix or something like it, you can keep on using your drone skills.
Or, yeah, you could join a nullsec alliance. Pandemic Horde up north, Brave down in Catch/Esoteria, or KarmaFleet in Goonswarm are all good places to learn. They’ll all teach you how to survive in null, and how to make money. And most of them don’t really require you to be all that ‘serious’… just, you know, pitch in. After all, if you’re making money in part because of the infrastructure and security the alliance gives you, it’s only fair to help the alliance out by showing up to 1 fleet a month or something. Hell, with Karmafleet, there’s usually Home Defense fleets every night, so you can just hop into a Jackdaw or Harpy for 10m and be fine.
So the problem with guilding is that you play as a team and that means that you have to be online at certain times, my work hrs are irregular, I got into a guild and after a month left the game, paying the subscription but not playing, the fun of the game was gone.
That is not the case with the large nullsec alliances. We all have coverage around the clock, 24/7. There are things going on all the time for whenever you’re available to do things.
Edit: For example, yesterday was kind of a slow day, what with a lot of people reacting to the unexpected early patch. We only sent out 12 home defense fleets in the last 24h.
Decisions decisions decisions, I so love flying this ship!
And I am playing two chars Omega at the same time, the other is support
Best blog I’ve read in quite some time. Time has taught me to be quite skeptical when CCP comes out with “Hey, we’re listening, and we’re responding, and we’re making effective changes!” statements. Especially ones that are somewhat vague on specifics. So yes, I’m still skeptical here, but at least it looks like you are focusing on the right areas.
So, first off, GOOD JOB CCP on identifying areas that need work. That blog covers in one way or another a bit more than half the issues I think EVE has been crying out to be resolved for about 8 years now.
Second, I would be cautious when saying “We did Blackout and other changes, and the result was botters left in droves and new players are steadily increasing.” I honestly don’t think the botters will give up that easily, and I suspect that a lot of the “botters went away, new players arrived” shift may simply be a case of “the botters whom we could easily detect changed to new botting techniques that we cannot so easily detect so they look like actual players to us”.
Last, the blog reviews a lot of key problems. That is hopeful. However, it’s not like it took rocket science to identify those problems - players have been pointing out exactly those issues for a decade. It’s nice you have an official corporate focus on problem areas, even though it leaves me to wonder where that focus was since 2010 or so.
The problem has always been that CCP’s ‘solutions’ to identified problems tend to be ham-fisted, too broad, not specifically focused on the actual problem areas, create unintended consequences, and often nerf real players as much or more as they do bots. They also consistently benefit established/wealthy players more than newer players.
So CCP, please, please, PLEASE this time… identify creative and focused solutions to the actual source of problems in the game. Do not opt for the easy and cheap tweaks that you’ve so often employed in the past that result in band-aid solutions that quickly fail to achieve anything meaningful.
Your vision looks pretty good. Please get some decent glasses so you can aim solutions at those problems without shooting yourselves (and us) in the foot. Or both feet.
message me in game ill be on i a few hours, im a truck driver so it doesn’t get any more difficult than that when it comes to hours and time to play. i have guys in a major alliance and in a hi sec corp. ill talk this thru with you, maybe i can help point you in the right direction. anyhow off to do my day job cya fly dangerous
that’s usag btw
I will give you this caution, though: If you decide to try to get into a null alliance… don’t start off flying Gilas. Start off ratting in something cheap that will earn its value in relatively short order, like a Myrmidon. They insure reasonably well, they tank reasonably well, and they’re completely disposable. Where the Gila hull costs 200+M right now, the Myrmidon costs under 100, fully-fitted for making money.
Don’t fly what you can’t afford to lose. Ever.
Thank you for the advice, will have a look at one and what I need to train for them, hopefully nothing, lol
I have ever always flown what I can’t replace, to be able to stay alive, lol
Oh yeah and then I die!
For high-sec missions, you want things with good survivability and low cost. Look at your missile skills and shield-tanking skills. As much as I hate to say it… consider a Drake for high-sec missioning, set up for passive regen. (Shield Power Relays and Core Defense Field Purgers)
Think all mentioned are at max already
