But insurance is a scam on its own at the moment, it seems like you give money and they return it to you if you blow up your ship?
Nowhere near the cost of replacing it?

i stopped using insurance for that very reason many years ago. the key is “don’t fly what you cant afford to lose”

So I use it since a few days on every account at least once a day

To put it this way, at 49mil skill points I still do not do PVP, mining is a bore, glad there are some stronger NPC coming to attack while mining, but risking low sec for guaranteed PVP and no way of recovering what you lose, what is insurance there for then?

That then also means do not advance?
Do PVP or get out?

Well, I’d hope you’re not paying for other players to radically overhaul the insurance system, or for CCP to respond to 1 post in 400+ within 10 minutes, because neither of those is at all a realistic expectation.

As for @usag’s point… there are easy ways to avoid that—put a modifier on insurance so the bigger the ship, the lower the % of cost is covereged.

The real problem is that if you make insurance cover the cost of fully-fitted ships… we will horribly abuse that. And we’ll do it at the kind of scale that only we can. Basically, what it’s going to come down to is: if you want the ISK, you gotta work for it. Because any workarounds they put in for the solo player, we can use for each and every one of our 29,150 ‘solo’ characters, simultaneously.

Making things scale well in a way that gives small groups/individuals opportunities without making those opportunities so good that larger groups want to take advantage of them is hard. If it weren’t, they’d have gotten it done a decade ago. The biggest thing that makes it all work IRL is something CCP can’t use…

Because what makes it all work IRL is ‘it doesn’t’. Seriously, try being a ‘solo player’ IRL. Be self-employed without an extremely rare and specialize skill-set that lets you produce things nobody else can (because in EVE, that doesn’t exist). Know what you’ll find? RL’s game balance sucks! The RL devs got lucky, though, because unlike EVE… the only way to stop playing is die.

I am kinda surprised by their subscription numbers, though. 7b? I mean, that’s almost as many accounts as WoW.

Just remember Wow is dead

I hear and agree, So IRL if I crash my car insurance pay’s out or replaces it? Premium goes up, No claim bonusses, etc, etc?

LOL, was thinking of going back to wow instead of staying here, would love to stay though

ive been here for 12 years its hard to say if its better or worse, so many changes. i will say im looking for another game because this is getting to frustrating.

Seems I have only been playing 4 years, thought it was more, to me at the moment losing a ship means I have to input real money,
And the ship I fly is only a Gila?
I cannot make enough isk in game to buy new ships?
Now I have to try to get into Guristas to get the Original blueprint aaaahhhhh the work the hrs

Uhm… what do you do in-game that you can’t afford to lose the ship you’re using to do it?

this game really isn’t geared for the casual player. and that’s the main piece CCP miss when they start making changes to the economy and so on. it makes it hard on players that don’t spend hours a day. your really have to be multi skilled to survive. I.E. miner /ratter/ industrialist

LVL 4 Quests?
